FoxyLoxy I have 2 strains, 2 seeds a piece for this grow. I have the GG#4 from Expert Seeds, 2 Black Sugar seeds from Seedsman, all 4 have germinated, paper towel method, although I'm surprised how slow they took to pop. Any ideas why? Took about 3 days which forever in a sealed sandwich bag it takes maybe a full 24 hours. Anyway, not much going on here, I used peat pellets, they only today sprouted somewhat and shed the shells, well all but one did anyway. I'll make sure to post pictures as the weed progresses.
I have two separate lights here, both LED, I have a 135w HLG Quantum Board, and a 1000w KIng Plus (although its certainly not giving off 1000 watts). I have some surrounding 100w CFLS that I was using prior to getting the Quantum Board, from time to time I'll use some of them if it appears the plants isn't being totally engulfed in lighting, but they do a pretty good job together, I do need to install the lights better though I have the king propped up on the side of the plants with the QB above.
I have one other grow happening right now, but other than this I've never harvested before. This is going to be my second grow started, first official grow from strain banks. I did previously try to do a grow from a strain bank before, but all 5 died immediately after germinating.
For this grow I'm using Fox Farm Ocean soil, although I'm using FF trio nutes for the other grow for this one I'll be using Advanced Nutrients, I got a sample pack that includes quite a few nutrients that I'll include in the weeks to come when I start them.
Happy growing!!!

FoxyLoxy not sure which is which. slow growth, stunted or shocked maybe? the one looks like nute burn the other one is clearing it up, they both originally gained nitrogen def, but i used coffee as a natural remedy for that. any ideas why they arent flourishing ?

FoxyLoxy unfortunately one of them has died, so the title is now gg#4 OR black sugar, having a little nitro def but other then that a healthy girl, a little stunted growth but hopefully we will see improvement by next week. no big changes.

FoxyLoxy what..the..hell. what happened? i dont understand why this happened like this. it clearly was the gg#4 because it auto'd, again before i knew it since its my first run and with autos at that. so for a bit i didnt realize but im just totally at a loss. it smells great, actually losing a bit of its stickiness and smell. when should this harvest? why did this happen?
i have so many questions im hoping someones had a similar experience. i think it also looks deficient although ive been told it looks very healthy. when should i clip it?

FoxyLoxy Im just going to be harvesting this within the next few days, im not sure whats up with this plant. but its starting to lose its smell and im concerned so i flushed it this week and now i will cut it tonight or tomorrow.
i honestly dont think this was because of the breeder or strain even though it was autoflower, this was purely me, id be more than glad to try this out again when im more experienced.

FoxyLoxy this went basically as bad as i couldve expected for a first harvest. i didnt flush, it obviously is very harsh, but actually not as bad as i expected. to yield a gram though, i mean i had some serious issues and inexperience. but i hope to try again with expert seeds down the line
Advanced Nutrients is a great lineup. I use their Sensi Grow..... The soil you are using already has nutrients in it.. Most growers will not use both because there is no way to control or know what the plant needs in different stages. If you plan to use the ADV Nutes you should use a medium such as Pro-Mix HP which is inert.
Good luck :)
@Hellhazard, so does that mean I need no nutrients at all, maybe should just use minimal doses of it? I mean I have some super silver haze clones in the same soil and they were deficiency ridden. Or is there certain ones I should be using and staying away from others? The problem with this for beginners is its literally a guessing game. I want to use good product for the best outcome but it's difficult when you want to use multiple brands and not be able to know what you need more or less of.
Thank you for the tip!!
@FoxyLoxy, You shouldn't need any nutrients added to a potting soil although some growers amend the soil with compost teas later in growth and flower. It is more of an Organic way to grow and there is plenty of reading on those subjects available.
Also, your claims to "deficiency ridden problems" could easily be attributed to environment and not lack of nutrients in the soil/medium. Cannabis is hardy and will normally survive but the end results suffer greatly...... Until you are fixed on a medium, nutrient line and ability to properly control your climate (air movement/temp/RHumidity) you will always notice issues and people will comment their idea of what your issues are sending you in all directions.....mostly as a nutrient deficiency (when usually its a PH issue causing the plant to lock out nutrient uptakes).
Unfortunately there is no way for anyone to read a diary and tell you exactly what your issues are 100%...but you will learn over the next year what they are and exactly how to fix them through trial and error and help from other growers....Just dont kill stuff :D:D:D
@Hellhazard, Thank you for your comment. I find it so weird, marijuana is definitely a resistant plant for sure, people have all sorts of different opinions of how the plant can or can't survive. I've read about the organic approach and I've read about nutrients. It's weird though about what you said about using advanced nutrients with an inert soil. The sample pack of nutrients they sent came with directions and it specifies to use advanced nutrients with fox farm soil. Just got a laugh out of that when I read your comment and then read the directions for the advanced nutes line.
@FoxyLoxy, I'm not sure of what you are saying... I am under the assumption the Fox Farm soil you have is nutrient packed in the bag already...They may have a line of inert medium also that I am not aware of because I dont use or shop for it.
One word of warning 99% of the growers using this forum, myself included, are not professional horticulturists and will often give misleading, but not intentional, incorrect information....Hell I even get incorrect information when I go to the hydroponics store and ask questions about nutrient lines or lighting ect...... Sorry if I confused you. I feel confused LOL
