Just started germinating (26 Oct 2018). Using the Paper Towel and Distilled Water method. Hopefully I will have sprouts next weekend to kick off the veg schedule. 2 days later I have all 4 seeds with 1 inch tap roots. just potted them and moistened the soil with distilled. I'll be adding some seedling nutes in a hour :) 2 days later again all 4 popped through the cocoa!

Is it too early to defoliate some of the fan leaves? I have some that sit on top of the Cocoa Coir and would like to know if removing the lower leaves would have a negative impact. Thanks :)

I'd say its fine to remove a few fan leaves in order to open up your plant more . Although its a bit early for that so I wouldn't go ham on that I would only remove the bare needed ones . You might also want to consider a way of training your ladies to open them up more maybe some LST or even you could top them and that would make the little tops shoot up . I would Start by removing the leaves that are touching the soil first this way it helps prevent any unwanted intruders to your plant as well as the plant well think its being grazed and will grow abit more in order to recover . Over all your well on your way to getting some kick ass medicine! I hope this information helps you to understand your options ! -Happy Growing!

One of the plants has much broader leaves. Could this be a different strain from the same breeder? Perhaps its an early indication of a male of the same strain? I have raised the light a few more inches to try and get them to stretch a bit. I'm still looking into humidifiers that I can use to increase the RH some more. Suggestions welcome! :) I think I'm going to have to get in there and defoliate a bit. Raising the light up hasn't encouraged any extra height out of the plants and those fan leaves are huge.

Trimming out the bottom fan leaves has caused the tops to shoot up a little. Girls are looking a lot better than last week. Plants responded well to the little trim they got but are still really bushy. Hopefully next week they stretch a little.

Had a little vacation this week and one of the girls got a little dry. She bounced back like a champion though! I got a little bit of a stretch out of them and they are looking good to go for flipping.

Spent about 3 hours removing fan leaves and small inner branches that were dying off. The tops look absolutely stellar and I'm pretty happy with the structure. I don't know if I'm going to have to scrog or not as the branches seem pretty strong to me. I guess I'll know in 2 and a half weeks.

Thanks so much for the tips! I really appreciate it :) I'll see what I can do about a humidifier to raise the RH a little. I was hoping that once I used the larger pots that the RH would increase some but it hasn't. Winter is setting in and it's really noted in the RH of the house. Blackdog's lighting footprint indicates that 28 inches is the correct hieght over the canopy but I'll see what 30 inches does to the plants. I topped again and took out only a couple of fan leaves from each one just to clear the way for watering and open them up just a little. Hopefully everything works out fine :) Thanks again folks!

Your RH is very Low .... try to rise them in Starting an HUmifider.. i will post you here an VPD Chart.. there you see wich RH you should have in every Stage of the Plant in dependance to your Temperature http://www.just4growers.com/media/23631/vpd_2degree.gif

Hi, first thing i see if i look at your Girls is, that the Ndes are very near together, having fewspace between the Nodes. That is a sign that your Lights are to strong/ to near to the Ladies. I would recommend to rise the LIght, that they have to strech a little for the LIght and build Space between the NOdes. If they have stretched you see what can be taken away.... Happy growing. Going to follow this grow. The plants look like mine - super bushy. almost to the point it is worrying! But I'm sure this is usual with hydroponic grows, especially under LED lights. Anyway - good luck and the plants look super healthy. I am interested to see how you tame them!
