Mephisto Sour Stomper + Double Grape & Biotabs first run!
A new growing cycle is beginning, and I'm intrigued by the concept of Biotabs. I've seen others achieve impressive results with them. While I've traditionally found success with Advanced Nutrients, I acknowledge that the ultimate taste of the buds remains consistent. Therefore, my focus has shifted towards achieving richer terpene profiles that you only found in Organics. I've encountered challenges with Biobizz in the past; managing numerous bottles for organic growth can be cumbersome. Hence, I'm considering a switch to a simpler approach of blending everything directly into the soil and relying solely on water for nourishment or eventual feedings in flower.
Despite hearing positive reviews about Mephisto beans, I've never personally grown them. However, their high cost in Europe has been a deterrent. Unfortunately, my initial experience with them hasn't been favorable. Two double grape beans failed to germinate after more than five days, and only one Sour Stomper has sprouted thus far.
Finally, getting those seeds to sprout was a bit of a struggle. I had three duds, which hasn't happened in ages. Weird, right?
I'm chalking it up to the brutal end-of-winter chill making it tough to keep the tent cozy at a steady 22 degrees. But hey, now that winter's on its way out, the temps should even out. Winter growing, especially with organics, is just not my jam.
Anyway, soon I'll have some room to spare in my main tent, so I'll shift the gang over there. For now, they're just chilling under my other lights in a little makeshift spot.
Oh, and if you're curious about my soil mix, I've been following the "Just Add Water" Strategy from Biotabs. You can check out their manual if you're interested. The only tweak I've made is popping the Bio tab in around day 7 and the other one on day 30, as per the recommendations.
Manual:

Soil Mix:
70% Biobizz light-mix & 30% Perlite
Let's see how this experiment goes. If it pans out, I might treat myself to an autopot and go full-on automation mode (a guy can dream, right?).
see you next week!
Hello, another week and they're thriving!
The largest one is currently at 15 days, the medium-sized at 11, and the smallest at 9 days. I plan to introduce the bio tab to the smallest plant on day 14 as a test, as I've done with the others on day 7. Since I haven't transplanted them or made any changes, I'm concerned about potential nutrient toxicity, so I'll exercise caution with this one.
However, everything seems to be progressing well, and I'm eagerly anticipating the results! :)
Starting off a new week, and the gang's growing a tad slower than I thought, but hey, it's all good. The one giving me some worry was Sour Stomper B, she was lagging behind the other two, but now she's starting to catch up.
Gave the older one a feed yesterday with 1 gram of Bactrex.
I was thinking of giving them some Orgatrex, but I reckon the soil's a bit too spicy at the moment, so I'll hold off on that for now.
That's it for this week.
Another week kicking off.
They've definitely changed quite a bit since last week. The two little ones are lagging behind a bit... it's interesting though, those are the only ones I've started off with jiffies. The big one just went straight into the pot. Maybe the jiffies are the culprit?
Also, looks like they're showing some signs of too much nitrogen, and also and I doubt Sour Stomper B is going to grow into a big girl.
I planned to insert a new tab on the Sour Stomper A, but I will wait a couple of days before.
Feed everyone with 1gr Bactrex on day 21 and also doing some LST almost everyday on the Sour Stomper A.
Starting off the new week strong! Things really took off last week with some impressive growth especially Double Grape. I've been keeping an eye on them and doing lots of LST, making sure they don't get too stretched out and stressed from the light.
Just gave them their first dose of compost tea, 500ml for the big girl and 250ml for the little ones. Also popped in some tabs for everyone on day 30.
That's it! Let's see how they bloom. So far, so good!
Hey there,
Just checking in for another week! Things are looking pretty good overall. They're in the early flowering stage now, and most of the crew is doing great—except for Stour Stomper B, poor thing's been having a rough time since the get-go.
I messed up a bit by putting the tabs in too early, so there's a bit of nitrogen overload happening, but hey, we live and learn, right? Despite that, the girls are holding up well.
Today, I gave the older one their first dose of bio PK, and the younger ones got their first taste of compost tea on day 35.
Oh, and shoutout to Biotabs for being awesome! I got my first Bactrex, but it was more like a rock instead of powder form. I hit them up, and they were super cool about it, sending me a replacement and some extra goodies.
As another week begins, the plants are looking incredibly beautiful. A plethora of trichomes has emerged since last week, especially on Double Grape; she is exceptionally stunning and frosty.
I'm truly in love with them. Even Sour Stomper B, which was previously struggling, has found her way. Though she is suffering from nitrogen excess, I take full responsibility. I recall that when I put the tab on day 30, the tab dissolved unexpectedly, which may have contributed to the issue. Nevertheless, apart from that, I am immensely pleased with their progress. It's been a while since I've had plants that looked this healthy.
Today, I applied Compost Tea to the older plants and administered 8ml of Bio PK-5-8 to each of them on Day 42.
And they are drinking a lot of water, like 1liter every day.
Hey there!
Another week kicks off, and things are really blooming now. The buds are plumping up nicely, and there's a whole bunch of trichomes popping up.
Looks like Sour Stomper A might be dealing with a bit of a potassium deficiency. I've already given her some PK 5-8, but since she's nearing day 60, it's possible this fading is just par for the course as she likely prioritizes resources for bud production over older leaves.
Sour Stomper B, on the other hand, is absolutely killing it. She started off a bit slow, but now she's flourishing.
As for Double Grape, despite having two duds during germination, it's shaping up to be one of the most stunning plants I've ever grown.
Btw, they smell fucking amazzingggggggggg
Cya
Hey,
Just checking in - another week kicked off, and things are smooth sailing. No major hiccups.
Watching the buds plump up each day is pretty awesome. They're really coming along nicely. Still sticking to the booster schedule as recommended. They seem to be loving the compost tea + pk 5-8 combo.
That's it.
Hi there,
Final stretch for the girls!
Sour Stomper A is ready for harvest. I'll cut her today—checked her trichomes, and there's a good percentage of ambers.
Double Grape also looks ready, but I'll give her one more week. She's gonna yield well, I think. Her buds are so heavy the branches are falling.
Sour Stomper B still has 1 or 2 weeks to go, though I'll need to harvest her in 8 days since I'll be away at the beginning of the month.
I enjoyed how fast these strains were. I bought them based on the breeder's and growers' reviews, and they didn't disappoint in that matter.
I'll update later with the harvest.
This strain was super easy to grow, really resistant, and smells freaking amazing—and it grows super fast. After drying, I couldn't resist and had a joint, and even without any curing, it tastes amazing.
Despite a few minor issues during the grow, she yielded pretty well for her size and really happy.
Update:
113grs for 2 girls, I'm very happy with the result
One of the prettiest strains I've grown. Despite wasting three seeds with only one germinating, this one exceeded my expectations. It has a good yield, is frosty, and smells great. I can't wait for it to cure so I can taste it at its full potential.
Will be growing Pinot Noir next cycle, which has Double grape as a parent.
hey man, great looking plants. Actually doing a sour stomper run myself using almost all the same nutes, just without the PK booster compost tea. It says you were using 4ml/l of orgatrex and 8ml/l PK booster, are those numbers right? Just wondering if I should increase mine, currently feeding 2ml/l orgatrex and 1ml/l PK booster but I'm not sure if it's enough as I'm seeing some slight deficiency
@ayca_roomba, Hey there, thanks!
If you’re not using compost tea, you probably won’t need the extra Orgatrex maybe your 2ml is enough. When managing multiple plants, the site's UI can be confusing since some nutrients might overlap during the weeks.
Here’s what I’ve been doing:
Since Week 4:
For 1 liter of tea, I add about 4 ml of Orgatrex and 15 grams of the tea, then let it bubble.
(Note this enough for 2 plants, each one get 500ml)
Week 5:
8 ml of Bio-PK.
Then repeat this process until the end.
I think you can increase your Bio PK input, I remember being afraid of using their recommended dosage and asked them by email and they said its not a problem even for autos
If you have any extra questions feel free to ask.
n7ce, enjoy the smoke...
kinda bit fluffy, maybe an additional lamp? I had 120w (sanlight) in may small tent, it was too few on 80x40 cm, with an additional 30w bloom lamp and 7w uv for 1h/day much better. just sayin..
@Own_Tomatillo, thanks for the tip, man! Indeed, that light wasn't strong enough for my tent, but I ordered a new panel that will arrive next week. I hope my plants will be fatter in the next cycles!
@wunderbaer, thanks, man! Indeed, it's great genetics, and I recommend it. Besides the poor germination rate I had with Double Grape (possibly due to old seeds from Seedsman since meph still wont sell in Europe since brexit), it's one of my favorite strains I've grown so far. I will probably grow it again or try some crosses from the breeder.
@Biotabs, thanks :) A big thanks for your products and support! I was harvesting the Sour Stomper a few minutes ago and noticed how solid and well-structured the buds are. The pictures don't do them justice, but even the popcorn buds are beautiful and no fluffy spots at all.
This was my first run with Biotabs, and I made some mistakes, however, the results were amazing. I bet the next ones will be even better. 😍
They are really starting to fill out now! I’ve had issues growing in jiffy pellets before so I think you are right that they are possibly the culprit. Keep up the great work 🌲
Look how gluey they are😍
fantastic
thank you for the long Text, andrating of our Products.
you nailed it in saying " feeding the soil, and not the Plant, thats the key for sucessful growing, saving envoirement, and saving money in the end.
