This diary is dedicated to a little experiment with the 2 ladies at the back, 2 Dance World from Royal Queen Seeds. I have one just about to end its flowering cycle and I quite enjoyed her so I want to give her another go. Trained in a manifold she grew very thick short and bushy with a beautiful canopy. An incredible Pine, Citrus, Pineapple and Spices combo of fragrances.
Those 2 are from clones and have rooted the same day.
They will both grow in a fresh batch of soil.
Both pot will be layered and spiked. Soil recipe at the bottom as usual.
Both clones will be trained approximately the same which will start with a funky fim. Noding is already alternate so not a true FIM, and I might change my mind and top them, I was just curious there.
Knowing they get short and bushy I will just be randomly playing with them.
Let's see where it goes.
Day 1: They rooted in a jiffy pellet. they seemed to have a pretty vigorous root growth.
Day 7: They have established themselves in their new pot which is a mix of coco, perlite and worm castings.
---------
Soil Recipe :
Base Mix
8 Liters organic soil mix or quality compost
8 Liters coco or peat
8 Liters perlite/vermiculite (70/30)
8 Liters earthworm castings
1.6L Bio-char
Amendments
250ml General fert. (2-3-2)
250ml crushed oyster shells
185ml ground oyster shells
185ml dolomite lime
60ml seabird guano (11-3-2.3)
125ml feather meal
185ml bone meal
125ml soft rock phosphate
125ml powdered gypsum
125ml High PK fert. (approx. 4-9-9)
185ml kelp meal
1L composted steer manure
125ml azomite
250ml alfalfa meal
250ml granular humic acid
250ml organic rice
125ml zeolite
125ml rock dust
125ml diatomaceous earth
250ml insect frass
High N layer blend :
2 parts blood meal
1-2 parts feather meal
2 parts high nitrogen bird/bat guano
1 part ground oyster shells
Spike Veg
3 parts blood meal
1 part steamed bone meal
1 part high N bat/bird guano
1 part feather meal
1 part kelp meal
15ml ground oyster shell
Spike Flower
4 parts feather meal
1 High PK fert (approx. 4-9-9)
1 part soft rock phosphate
2 parts steamed bone meal
2 parts high N bat/bird guano
4 parts kelp meal
1 tbsp ground oyster shell
1 tbsp Azomite powder
Looking good, slow and steady growth like her predecessor.
Day 12: They were fimmed, although not really as the nodding is already alternate. Let's see what happens.
Day 16: Some branches were tied down already. trying to get her to expand as much as possible. The previous training I did with a Dance World, ended up with a very bushy plant which did not allow a lot of light penetration.
Day 18 : They were transplanted in a hempy bucket, I would like to play with it once more. I did not use layers only spike in the super soil.
it follows the same recipes as the first transplant in week 2.
Day 19 : They were both topped in order to keep 5 branches on each plant, I would like them to spread out as much as possible as they get so bushy. Trying to adjust from the first grow.
Day 21 : They were tied down in order to start growing outwards instead of up.
Day 22 - 05/11 - The idea is to keep 5 colas and train them in a star shape, one of them is a little more cooperative than the other.
Day 24 - 07/11 - They were given a basic microbial tea. Growth has improved quickly after that.
Day 27 - 10/11 - They were trained some more, just keeping those colas growing horizontally. All the growth except for the first 1-2 nodes was removed. They were also given a Sprouted Seed Tea (Alfalfa,Barley,Corn,Cannabis). I have never given this tea right after a training/timming session. Let's see if all the beneficial enzyme, hormones, amino acids, etc help reduce the stress.
----------
Tea recipe :
for 1L:
24ml Vermicast
6ml BS molasse
0.65ml Fish Hydrolysate
2.5ml Kelp meal
0.65ml Soft Rock Phosphate
Sprouted seed tea :
1.5g alfalfa seeds/L
3g of Barley seeds/L or 7.5g malted barley flour/L
3g of corn seeds/L
3g of cannabis seeds/L
1. Measure ammount ie 50g
2. Soak in water for 24h
3. Drain and put in cloth, rest for 24h ( Ideally you want your seeds to weigh double after step 2.)
4. Ready when sprouts are about the length of the seed, if not repeat step 2 and 3
5. put in blender with a little water and puree it.
6. Puree can be frozen into cubes for further use.
7. Add in you total ammount of water and drench soil or foliar feed.
Day 29 - 12/11
Still looking happy, I see the roots are coming and feeding all the way up just below the mulch, lovely to see, I will upload pictures of it.
Day 33 - 16/11
They are both growing in the room with 2 chocolates in 10L fabric pots, those 2 plants are not covered in any journals though. But I can really see the difference on growth between the two, The DW grows slow, strong, with regular tight nodding and the chocolate fast, thin, tall and stretchy. Its a nice variety to have, but makes canopy management interesting in the later stage.
Anyway, I continue removing any growth below the apex of each colas, and tie her down to grow horizontal. She will soon reach the desired length and then I will let her grow upwards.
Day 37 - 20/11 : They were given 2L of water each with minimal run off. The EC was measured at a staggering 7 !😂😮What do you guys think of that ? She seems to be doing fine though. It is living organic so it isn't as relevant as in synthetic or simple normal organic.
Day 38 - 21/11 : Little photo shoot today. They are very happy, they grow strong and steady, They are really a lot of fun to train and pretty easy to grow. I think the hardest is to manage the thousands of branches she tries to send everywhere. They already have a really strong stem and the colas are all looking pretty good especially on the Star, the Crook is not as constant.
@BeefWellingtons, You should give it a shot, you can find ways to make it fairly easy. I just puncture hole on the rim of the pot and attach my ties there , from there i just shorten or loosen them up , or move it left or right if I want to move the colas.
Omg its a heavy soil..... did you test the EC=? iam courious how the girls did it... i wont put a seed into that soil,, but the Clones , i will see. Ok they made it and look very good. may you get the EC of your Soil=? iam nosey
@Mrs_Larimar,Yeah it is indeed quite a heavy soil. And you are right I wuoldn't put seeds in this either, even clones were initially put in a milder mix.
Also the way I normally prepare my pots there is only around 7L of that soil in a 10L pot.
For the EC, I haven't measured it, I do have a EC meter but as far as I know it is for liquid.
How can I go about getting the EC ?
Super Healthy, and ive been reading more.... like you said in an organic grow the runoff Ec... who cares, the organic elements show up a biiig EC that has nothing to say.its only for sythetic fertilisers
This is one of my favorite strains. If you got the stretchy sativa phenotype, just pay attention to nutrients you give her because it’s a very sensible pheno. Good luck, I’m following!
