Germination day! First time grower.
For my first time grow I decided to try my luck with autoflowers. The reason why was due to grow time, as I am growing for personal use I would like to switch up my strains every grow.
For this grow I have went for Auto Daiquiri Lime by Dutch Passion - US Genetics catalogue, & Auto Royal Cookies by Royal Queen Seeds.
After countless months of research, YouTube videos, grow guides, forms and speaking with friends who grow. I decided I would try a hydro grow in rockwool & coco.
Day 1 plan:
-1.5" rockwool cube x2 - ph'd to 5.5
- Rockwool cube placed inside of zip locked baggy (to help regulate humidity and keep rockwool damp)
- Bagged rockwool place inside propagator
- Hygrometer placed inside propagator to monitor temperature & humidity
- Propagator placed on seeed heat mat inside grow tent.
- Mars hydro 300W L.E.D placed 12" above propagator
I hooked up my 360 camera so that I could monitor the temperature with ease from my phone and not have to constantly climb into my roof space.
Next steps in 2-3 days time I will hopefully see signs of life and I will start to regulated my seedlings to the transition from propagator to grow tent environment.
By day 4-5 I will transplant into a 4" rockwool cube.
Stay tuned guys and watch me learn.
Begining of week 2 now, early hours of this morning (2am) I pre-soaked my 4inch rockwool cube in ph'd water with 1ml of voodoo juice by advance nuitrients, pH was 5.6.
07/11/18 8am - 4 hours before lights off I Transplanted both the girls in to a 4 inch rockwool cube this morning. I decided to change my light cycle to 20/4 (lights off now 1pm-5pm).
After I Transplanted the 2 4 inch cubes went into the Propagator with the lid slightly lifted to allow more air flow and vent of top left at half way open.
I increased the height of my light to allow the seedlings to start to stretch.
I have put my air intake fan on a timer to bring fresh air from outside every 2 hours for 15 minutes.
in the next few days I will remove the lid from the Propagator and allow the girls to adapt to the grow tent environment.
Day 7:
Light feed of root stimulator in pHd water of 5.8
Day 8:
Transplanted into 4in rockwool cube (cube soaked night before for 12hrs in same root stimulator + water)
Day 10:
Transplant in to final pot - Nutes mix tyre into 2GL of water:
2ml CalMag
2ml FloraNova Grow
2.5ml Voodoo Juice
4 drops pH down
5 drops pH up
Ran around a GL of water through the Coco and allowed to run off for 30 mins, just to make sure the Coco is nicely treated.
Once run off had died down I made a hole in the Coco deep enough for the 4" rockwool cube.
Inserted the cube so it was snug against the edges and gently pushed in the Coco from the sides, and light covered the top of the rockwool to prevent algae build up.
then watered around the edge of the rockwool to get rid of any air gaps.
As I have removed the seed heat mat I have added an oscillating heat fan on a timer to come on for 15 mins every hour. and 15 mins every half hour when lights are off. I'll adjust this accordingly over the next few days once I get some proper readings.
Now to just water every day and give them love.

both girls are looking good, the cookies more so than the d lime (slight burnt tip on one leaf) but other than than both looking healthy and nice shade of green.
I bought some digital timers too, and have set my extractor fan to come on for 2 minutes every 4 hours, my air intake fan to come on for 5 minutes every 2 hours.
I was also having some issues with keeping the grow tent warm, so I bought an oscillating ceramic heat fan which comes on for 7mins twice every hour. they are all set in this order at different times through out the day:
1. extractor 2mins
2.heat fan
3. air intake 5mins
4. heat fan
and so on. Environment is super important so I've been checking every few hours to monitor the high and lows in humidity and temperature.

My WiFi 360 camera arrived today!!! I can now check on them wherever I am. it was killing me having to climb into the roof space every couple of hours to check on the environment and to see if my timer schedule for the fans was being effective. still a few tweaks to do with the heater but I'm going to get another digital timer from tesco.
They have grew so much since yesterday, they are loving the flora nova grow.

Lights off 12-6 new photo added of night vision shot from the new WiFi camera, I can't believe the quality of the night vision from the camera. I'll be giving them their daily feeding at 6:30-7pm as the lights will be on then.

So over the last couple of days I've been experiencing some humidity and condensation build up on the sides of my tent. To combat this I've readjusted my timer for the extractor fan to come on for 7 minutes every hour, added my mini dehumidifier and changed my air intake fan to take fresh air from my kitchen instead of outside. This should also help bring more c02 and warmer air in to the tent from my flat.
I've ordered a plug with a built in thermostat rod which will allow my heater to be controlled by temperature drops and will hopefully keep it at a consistent heat
I also tested my run off from my plants today which was coming out at 6.2 so I ran more feed through today to make it closer to 5.8 which is what the pH is when I water them. I was able to bring this down to 6.0 pH which I am more happy with.
22/11/18 - 23/11/18
So last night I had a bit of bad luck and dropped my pH pen in my bucket of nutes, to say the least I was royally pisssed off, so I did not get to water my girls last night. This wasnt the end of the world as my coco was still nice and heavy and thankfully good old Amazon prime was there to have my back! My new pH pen came today and I mixed up a new batch of nutes and everything was back on track 👌.
My new thermostat plug is working a test and I have seen so much growth in the last 2 days. I can't believe I over looked the fluctuation in temperature. My tent was getting a blast off hot air every so often and then cooling down, this was also starting to cause bad condensation aswell and giving me other issues. So the air intake fan has been removed and my extractor fan has been increased and my temperature is perfect so hopefully that will help the environment to be more stable.

Both ladies are looking great, responding well to upped PPM of 760. Loving my new pH pen it as the display lits up and is much easier to read, hopefully won't drop this one into my bucket of nutes lol. Gave the girls another feeding today let's hope they can definitely handle this higher ppm and don't get burnt.
work has been so hectic I haven't had time to update my journal.
Sooo here it is...
I had my work winter conference and had set up a bottle drip system for both plants hoping that it would sustain them whilst I was away for 3 days. Boy was I wrong, I didn't turn the drip on a high enough speed and my coco started to dry out.
when I returened, Al sorts of issues were going on with my plants, refer to my photos. Certain nutrients had been locked out and my pH was all out of wack when I tested the run off. Out of the 2 the cookies seemed to handle it better.
Anyways then I had my parents over for 4 days and I could overly tend to my plants the way I wanted to, other than watering them on the sly everyday they were here.
after my parents left I was finally able to tend to my plants properly andflush both of them with phd 5.8 water until the run off was the same.
then waited a day and watered with half strength nutrient at 330ppm.
a couple of days ago I decided to switch them over to FloraNova bloom as I felt they were needing more N. Hopefully that will pay off. D.lime hasn't seen much improvement in growth but we will have to wait and see if she recovers.
