Fast Buds living up to its name. Just put these seeds into a wet paper towel 24 hours ago and they germinated! I've never seen seeds germinate that fast before. 2 days was impressive to me in previous . Hoping that means these 2 gals wanna live. We'll see.
They were just moved from the papertowel into cups with seed starting soil.
Light is 30" above running 24 hrs at 30%
Moved them into pots from their compost cups.
Split the soil up at a 1:4 ratio using 1 part the nomads TLO to 3 parts potting soil from Coast of Maine.
Put that mix in the bottom of the cup then topped off with more potting soil.
One of the Tropicana Cookies has been growing weird since it popped out of the dirt. No issue with her sister (or the other 2 strains sharing the tent).
Moved the girls into slightly larger pots.
Mixed my homemade TLO with some potting soil from Coast of Maine at 1 part TLO, 2 part CoM.
Put the mixed soil at the bottom of the pot and put just CoM potting mix on top. This was to keep the lil ones from getting burnt from the rich TLO soil.
So far they are only getting fed with spring water collected from a mountain spring close by.
After watching some of Jeremy Silva's videos from Build-a-Soil we put in a humidifier into the tent this grow. What a difference getting humidity levels constant and stable has made.
Give props where pros are due:
I say "my homemade TLO", but I'm using the TLO Supernatural Soil mix 2.2 from The Rev. Found in the book True Living Organics 2nd edition.
Still just giving them water. And with the humidifier in play not much.
Prepped the 3 gallon cloth pots using the layering method from the Rev's book True Living Organics.
Trying some advice from Jeremy Silva at Build-a-Soil by prepping the pots and let them set for a bit for the cover crop to come in and layers mix before transplanting.
Made some mulch from straw and coco. Mixed at about 3 parts straw 1 part rinsed/buffered coco. This is the first time using mulch with clover cover crop.
5th node is just starting to show planning on topping them when they're transplanted.
Was a little reluctant on choosing the "veg" button for this week as these gals are definitely well on their way to flower.
Transplanted the gals into 3 gallon pots and then did a topping. And let them grow.
Most recently added the scrog net. Never tried scrog with autos, It's worked in the past for photo strains, fingers crossed.
Increased the light on the LED from 65% to 75%
Will probably be switching the lights to a 12/12 schedule soon. Had issues with some other auto strains trying to reveg when I keep them on 18/6 through flower.
Speaking of lights this week started supplementing UV spectrum with a couple T5 UV bulbs installed in the tent. so far were running the UV in 3 min intervals once an hour for four hours a day.
So far the only "feeding" has been a few drops of CalMag in one watering and a run of Bigfoot Gold mycho in another.
Probably could have tagged last week as "flower", but this week is without a doubt flower.
Since we're deeper into flower, started increasing the amount of dark time the girls are in to 9hrs. Should be at 12/12 in a week or two
Also lowered the humidifier to 50% rh.
The girls have really taken to the ScrOG.
Did a top dress this week with a mix of Bat Guano, Kelp meal, and Feather meal.
Other than the top dress it's been nothing but spring water.
Speaking of under ground water; we're testing out some self watering bases for cloth pots from AC Infinity. It uses a wicking system to keep the plants watered perfectly.
So far so good!
Really blown away with how early the Trichrome are coming in on this Fast Buds Tropicana Cookies!
The girls have taken very nice to the ScrOG. Their trichrome growth is impressive. This is the first grow where we've seen "resin rails".
Much to the dismay of Grow Diaries still only feeding them mountain spring water. Adding water to their wicking bases 1 gallon about every 3 or 4 days.
Dark time has been slowly increased this week to 10hrs
Had a spike in humidity this week. Powered down the humidifier for the time being.
Plan on doing some top dressing probably next weekend. Still deciding on with what though.
Note for this strain:
TC seems to want to grow bushy. Kind of Indca-ish
The smell has been turning citrus-y.
This week we slide the light back to 13 hrs of light
No change to the UV light sequence
Did a top feed with a blend of (fed at 2tsp per plant):
Seabird Guano
DTE General Purpose
Worm castings
Molasses Magic
Key to Uptake
Key to Boost
Key to Silica
Topped off the top dressing with some spring water with 10 drops of Cal Mag.
Strain finds:
Tropicanna Cookies is staying bushy, buds are very indica-esque.
Did not expect to to see purple coming out.
Resin production is unreal.
Citrus smell is potent.
These are some sticky, stinky gals!
Did a trim to clean up the ladies, get some air flow into the branches.
Been feeding water still filling the reservoir about every 4 days.
Strain notes:
The buds are coming in very dense
Riding it out to the end.
Filled the reservoir and gave a (what could be) final topdressing with worm castings and my late flower blend.
Trichromes are starting to go milky so not long now!
A floater week. Did nothing but added water.
Just waiting on the trichomes to show a little amber.
Trichomes have started turning milky.
The smell is really strong!
