soaked the seeds in a cup with some acti vera, kelp meal and a bit of em-super cera c powder by 23 celcius.
most of them had sprouted or at least cracked open a little bit within 24h.
i noted that none of the cbdivine seeds poped jet.
i also started some of the seeds i found in my last harvest while trimming.
after the 24h soak i moved them to 0.16l cups filled with a peat moss pellet and homemade light mix with lots of coco and perlite.
this is the first time i use peat moss pellets. i choose them because i wanted to try them out and for the water holding capacity they provide to keep the roots moist in my dry living room.
well i guess i underestimated the peat pellets inside my light mix and overwatered i guess some cups... or planted the seeds to deep into them, i am not 100% sure.
the seeds from my last harvest have been the first ones out along the ice cream cake and the acapulco gold. i moved them direct under the lights and the other ones stayed in the propagator box where i had a temperature of 22 celsius. a blueberry and a jack popped but looked a bit weak. my bonus seeds the Mac1 popped all in the ground but the root rot killed it i guess like one of the blueberrys and jacks as well. i guess i should't had watered them when i moved the others out. it was to damp with the still pretty moist peat pellet. first time i am using them and guess i have to pay the price...
the weak blueberry and jack damped off by the end of week without further waterings, but they never looked good anyway. have to restart two of each seeds again. stupid me...
the cbdivine seeds never popped even in the soil not after a week. this is disappointing!
i give them one more chance and order an additional seed pack because i really want to try this strain for it's medical benefits.
i added a dimmer to my lights and had them first at 45cm and at 0% i wanted to try if it would be enough to support the growth behind my window but it was not strong enough. the seedlings started to stretch as you can see.
i turned up to 100% and lowered to 35cm wich was a setting that worked out last year by week 5. the plants stopped to stretch and by the end of week i turned it down to 80% to see if the y
start to stretch again. i would like to find out on what kind of dim setting i can hang down the lamp to like 20-25 cm in this early stage to safe some energy.
a far from perfect start. bummer that so many seeds damped off, try again... but happy to see the barneys farm seeds shine as well as some of my collected ones from last year. i germinated 12 and got 9 seedlings. wonder how they gonna grow and develop. doing this only to observe and hand them out to friends that like a plant in the garden just for show and not to consume.
interesting week.... last saturday i planted two more jacks after 24h soaking, both popped both came up, one got a bit strangled by it's seed shell but should develop as well.
mid week i soaked the next batch as soon they came by in the mail and planted them by thursday.
all blueberrys and jamaican cbd seeds popped and came up by the end of week. most of the blueberrys needed some help with the seed shells to come off.
the cbdivine are disappointing! this time three popped after 24h of soaking but the tap root didn't start to develop, the other two didn't even popped open after three days in soil.
i took them out and soak all of them now again to see what happens.
this time i was aware about the moist level and as we can see all other seeds liked the treatment.
i bought ten seeds in total and not one of them made even a tap root so far, all thumbs down...
while the space became tight i planted the leggie ones from my own seeds in bigger containers, placed them deeper to support the long stems and then strait out with them into my big pots with some protection against the wind.
the light at 35cm and 80% worked well. i guess it is strong enough like that. will see how the new seeds react and maybe try to low and dim down further.
happy how the barneys plants look and plan to transplant by the end of next week to 3.8 l root pouch bags and move them outside as well. because the temperatures are already mild around here. warmer than usualy
lamp still at 35cm and 80% of power.
Acapulco Gold and Ice Cream Cake got transplanted on the 13.4. to 3.8l root pouch bags by day 20. they like the more nutrient rich soil of course and got watered in with compost tea.
the rest will be transplanted by the end of next week as well when they reach day 20.
moved them by chance outside to get them some direct sun.
i will have to wait to move them outside for a bit. for next week temperatures will be only around 9 degrees during daytime and around freezing level at night, crazy after the hot weather we already had. on the pictures the temps climbed up to 28 celcius.
from hot to cold in no time, winter came back. no chance to give the plants some time outside. nights close to freezing and cloudy or snowy/ rainy days around five celsius.
last weekend in the sun left some mark on the plants. was a bit to much sun and head. sadly my cover crop in my outside pots had some spider mites on, they got onto my seedlings.
started to spray with EM5 and EM Pflanzenfit.
on the ice cream cake i spotted white pistils, i hope no preflowers. gonna go up to 15h and a short blast of light during night, to prevent preflowering, it looks like more than just sexing.
up planted acapulco gold, cupcakes and dreams will follow mid next week. all the plants got transplanted so far by day 21
germinated and seeded in another acapulco and ice cream seed, first because i got worried from the preflowers, second i want to try how different it is to direct seed into the 3.8l bags in a peat moss pellet with a bit light mix around and third to germinate seeds on 420 ;-)
plants like to feed on the now richer soil in the new pots
winter week. plants spent the week in the garage under the lights. on monday we had the only frost day from the cold weather front, otherwise just cold and clowdy weather with the snow coming close. on the weekend the average temperatures came back as well as some sun and i was happy to bring out the plants.
switched to 16h of light to help the ice cream cake to reveg. they feel soft and showing growth, i think they will be fine. i will top them soon as well.
one em pflanzenfit spray a week and i watered root enhancing bacteria in.
transplanted the jamaican an the blueberrys mid week as well, veg and the amended soil will kick in now.
average week on the weather side. first half sunny second half cloudy with some rain and cooler.
the plants spend the first days outside during daytime and on the second half of the week in the garage under lights.
they looking good so far. by sunday i topped the cakes and the golds. acapulco gold will be mainlined while ice cream cake shall grow into a big bush, thats why i toped down to one node on the golds, one to the third and one to the fourth node because the sideshoots looked best on those nodes. ice cream cake i topped above the sixt and pruned up to the third node, to have four nodes and eight branches to work with. the other plants i pruned up to the third node. will top them within the next two weeks as well.
some sun, some rain this week. plants spend the first nights outside with night temps around 6 to 10 celsius.
due to the weather this spring the garden is covered with aphids, trying my best to keep them off the ladys.
topped the jack herer. this is the last time with all the plants in the house. next week several will go away to friends.
always hard to decide wich to keep. but nice to keep the best ones for myself.
the blueberry shows different phenos, i will keep one that shows some purple on the stems. two show a bit purple and narrower leaves, three are full on green and have more wider leave blades.
the jack as well, one looks like the more indica pheno, i will keep the one that shows sativa and indica signs.
Average week on the weather side. Often rainy and cloudy days but with days in the twenties and nights around ten Celsius.
Decided for my final five plants and planted them on a root day on the 18.5.
Along with them the first load of companion plants(basil, marigolds)
At the same time i topped the jamaican dream down to the third node to prepare for mainlining, the bluberry i topped above the sixt node to have for nodes up from the third to create a big bush.
Average week on the weather side. Often rainy and cloudy days but with daytime in the twenties and nights around ten Celsius.
been busy spraying em5 almost every evening and preventing the slugs from eating my companion and hemp plants.
hoping for sunnier days soon.
the plants develop fine right now. ice cream still didn’t flipped fully back and with that kind of weather even less…
starting to mainline acapulco and jack next week
very rainy and cloudy week. temperatures are ok and only one night was around 6 celcius and the they only up to 14 celcius, but very little sunshine....
everything is very moist and i have a hard time keeping away the snails. aphids become more and more a issue. sprayed a beneficial microbes product with soap(natural/bio andermatt) and a tea from vermouth and garlic, some spidermites are still there as well and the very very wet mulch attracted fungus gnats.... mhhh... i will keep it up with the sprays and don't relay just on the em products for pest prevention.
otherwise the plants looking good. i started to mainline on acapulco and jack, ice cream is keep switching back to veg but now it looks better i would say, the stems of jack and blueberry are swelling up. maybe i get to top the gold next week again, the jamaican i will start to mainline as well.
i try to go away from the stem in a 60 degree angle instead of trying to keep it very low.
great week, finally sun! plants going strong!
it's been shady since two months...
plants loved it in the sun!
cupcake in the open area got a bit too wet, i cover her now when it rains to lower the moisture.
pest control with vermouth/garlic tea and em 5/pflanzenfit. it works.
started LST the ice cream and cupcake. ice cream coming now back to veg properly!
backside branches of cupcake are smaller and the lowest suffer from a snail attack.
mainlining coming along nicely.
jack herer is pushing hard
applied compost tea and sprayed vermouth/garlic tea
hopefully this kind of weather is staying for a while.
average temps, shady days with rain and some sun this week
mainlining and lst training. topped the jamaican dream to four tops.
applied compost tea, sprayed em pflanzenfit and em5
happy to see five bladed leaves on the ice cream again.
good to see them going off now!
warmest week so far with temps up to 29celsius, several days of full sun and some rainy ones in the end
kushman ciropractics and lst on the bluberry and ice cream.
harvested the first cut of artemisia annua from the cover crop.
applied compost tea to the soil and pflanzenfit/em5 mixed with vermouth/garlic tea as a foliar spray
warm and sunny week with some rain
compost tea and em spray as usual once a week
topped again up to eight nodes on the mainlined plants
time to apply the cages and maybe topdress them the first time soon
warm and partly sunny week with some rain, it had a bit of everything in it.
compost tea soil drench and em spray as usual once a week, topdressed some chitin rich bio fertiliser npk7-1-1 and added malted barley
built up the cages for further support in the future and did LST
warm and sunny week. applied compost tea as soil drench and foliar spray.
plants are loving it. guess one more week for the final topping on the mainlined ones. LST on the blueberry and ice cream, pruned the lower for better airflow
sunny and hot week, compost tea as soil drench an foliar spray.
lst on bluberry and ice cream.
final topping on the mainlined plants up to 16 shoots.
raised the trellis bar on them. tied the plants a bit down. sadly broke the acapulco gold on two spots:-((
timing of the grow stage looks good. preflowering will kick in about two weeks.
sunny and hot week, late veg is full on you can see the progress from day to day, plants growing fast
compost tea as usual.
blueberry is going nuts right now:-)
ice cream as well and jamaican dream catched up big time as well, it overtook acapulco gold, but i split her on two points and i guess this is not helping even though the plant looks healthy
last days of veg in and a hot and sunny week with a couple of thunderstorms and some strong wind.
ladys din't care and stretched. guess one week and ice cream will show preflowers, blueberry is exploding as well like jack
topdressed 100ml each of charcoal, kelp, rock dust, mealworm guano, alfalfa on every pot, put down malted barley and some watermelon shells and mulched with alfalfa straw.
hot and sunny with serious thunderstorms and strong winds but the ladys are charging look at the blueberry two weeks ago. booom.
compost tea routine as always, lst
last week was hot and stormy with super strong winds. i was worried sick sometimes but they kept up.
have to do some pruning and trellising in the next week
compost tea as usual
ice cream and acapulco showing preflowers now
warm and sunny week. transition to flowering. stretching continues big time. blueberry cupcake is going nuts. ice cream already developed some early flowers, happy how the mainline plants turn out, did prune all the plants.
last time foliar spray with compost tea.
trellis construction in progress on the big plants.
average week on the weather side.
compost tea soil drench
ice cream is fattening up quick and has a strong smell already. beautiful
topdressed with wormcastings, mealworm meal, kelp and humic acid
fall kicked in cooler weather. partly cloudy and rain. at the end of the week it got really cool during night. lowest was 3 celsius. colors are kicking in.
ice cream is swelling up. maybe i harvest by the first week of october. the others are mid blooming phase.
compost tea as soil drench with calmag, activera and fish mix
had to spray jamaican dream, spider mites on some leaves.
very cold start of the week with night lows down to two celcius.
partly cloudy and rainy weather, ice cream started to show bud rot, should have put a roof over it earlyier...
tea and amendments like usual
cool and cloudy week with some rain and very little sunshine, not what you look for during flowering...
put up the raincovers and defoiled the plants. decided to harvest ice cream cake on the 25. september, no washing because i was afraid to spread some potential mold i did not see while harvesting during the washing process.
compost tea and amendments as usual
cool, rainy and cloudy ( nights been down to 4 celcius sometimes) week again. this fall is far from perfect for blooming...
tea and supplements as usual.
hope i can keep bud rot away and get them going for two more weeks and prey for a couple of sunny days to finish flowering.
cupcake got sooo red!
cool rainy and cloudy weather, terrible!!! glad i have my raincaps
spotted some mildew on jack by the end of week and decided to prune them strongly for airflow by the end of week.
one more week to harvest i think....
tea and supplements as usual
final week was terrible... several nights in a row with thick fog all night long and little to no sun during the day. plants got wet and stayed this way. the ones by the house a little less.
however when i checked mid week i spottet some more mildew on jack and a little bit of bud rot on acapulco, was clear from there on i had to harvest on the upcoming saturday, then i checked the blueberry and it turned out that the whole plant developed mold in only four nights. was a huge downer to loose the biggest plant in such a short time. should had harvested her o e week earlier when everything was cool. madness!!!!!
but the weather forecast was way better then it turned out in reality. bummer. i only was able to safe some small buds to try them out.
the week continued to be fogy and shit, on saturday i took down the rest. had to cut out bud rot on acapulco and some mildew on the jack, but at least to manage to bring in 90% of the buds from them.
planed to was them again but the conditions are to moist this season and i decided not to wash because i was afraid of mold while drying.
the first week of drying in the garage was still a challange even with a unwashed harvest.
well it was not a good year for growing cannabis and cultivating plants in general...
but at the end i am very very happy with the outcome even under far from perfect conditions.
the last 20 days of flowering took place with little to no sunshine in wet conditions and i managed to get still very nice flowers.
i give thanks for that and will see what kind of quality herb i get after curing. will be back with harvest/smoke reports after three months of curing mid winter.
