The seedling have been placed in 5 gallon air pots. Used 3lbs kindsoil at the bottom and filled the rest with fox farms bushdoctor coco loco. I used kindsoil recommendation for measuring their soil (1lb. = 7 cups). This is day 2, I placed the germinated seeds into the soil soil last night. Regarding the watering, i've just been spraying the top of the soil with a spray bottle, just around the area where i put the seed. I only sprayed lightly last night when i put them in the soil so it was bugging me this morning since it was so little. I checked the soil this morning, didnt feel wet. Felt the same as when i took it out the soil packaging so i went ahead and sprayed the top of the soil. This time i used about 2 oz of water in each.

today I checked the soil on her, the top layer has that dry color, but underneath it has a darker color, but it doesn't feel wet. Honestly, it feels the same as when I was only giving 2-3 oz as opposed to the 2 cups yesterday. Is the soil considered moist still? vid above.

The general rule of thumb for when your watering is to stick your giner in the soil all the way to your first knuckle if it is dry you could water . If the soil is is a diffrerent colour then the top then it still has moisture it in . The idea is to have your plants go through a wet and dry phase so your roots can expand. You idealy wanna be watering ever 2-3 days . If you over water you will see signs like droopy leaves and eventually yellowing of the leaves as well if you continue to over water . If you think that over watering is an issue you are have you can have a fan circulate air under and around the pots in or to help the moisture dry up quickly . I hope this serves you well . -Happy Growing!

It's day 17 for our main girl and I gave her and the other girl a watering last night. Sprayed 8 oz. of water around the base of both of them. Soil was really dry because I was out of town since Tuesday. I gave them both 8 oz. Tuesday morning before I left so I've got a pretty good idea of how much water they need now...I think I'm getting the hang of this. So they went 3.5 days without watering. Main girl had drooping leaves when I returned, so I finally saw how they look when they really need water. Our second girl on the other hand was good, no drooping leaves. This morning our main girl was perky again so I'm happy. Learning a lot from this first grow.

its the start of week 4 for our main girl. About 2 days ago i had to add more soil because she couldn't hold herself all the way up. Used a chopstick at first which worked, but decided to add more soil as well. She's actually able to hold herself up now, since 2 days ago. I just haven't removed the chopstick...I also increase the fan speed to 2, I don't think level 1 did any good to strengthen the stem. Stems are looking much better now since I upped the fan speed. regarding the height, I covered her base with about an inch or more of soil so her height is no longer accurate from when I first planted her, if you know what i mean...So she should actually be taller if i didn't add soil. Modification I started yesterday was that I lowered the lights to 12 inches from 18 inches. I realized after checking the specs on my grow light that they probably weren't getting enough usable light according to the manufacturers diagram. So at this height, according to manufacturers diagram they should now be getting somewhere around 500 par. I don't have a meter so i'm just going by what the manufacturer shows on their site. Today I also adjusted the light schedule from 18 hr to 20 hrs. Maybe that will help them catch up a bit. I have a feeling it was the distance from the light that slowed them down, I don't know...just guessing here. I've been looking at some other lsd25 grows and some are actually around the same size as mine in correlation to age, so it can just be the strain. Here's to hoping they start a growth spurt. Our main girl is already starting to pop pistols I think :( but she so tiny

alright, so its the start of week 5 for our main plant. She actually started flowering in the middle of week 4. A few days ago I noticed the top 2 leafs of our main girl curling inward and downward so I did some research and thought maybe it was nitrogen toxicity. I gave the kind folks at kindsoil a call because there shouldn't be any deficiencies etc. with their system. I spoke with phil over at kindsoil and he dropped some knowledge on me. basically i was over watering her. With their system you can't treat it like other grows; i was watering basically every 3 days and that was too much. With their system, they don't want you checking the top inch of the soil for dryness. Phil said the whole pot needs to be dry before watering them and depending on the grow conditions it can range from 7-10 days before needing water again. It's been 4 days now since I watered our main girl and 5 days for the 2nd plant. I checked the soil on both of them, getting my hands deep inside and its still has moisture. So i'm thinking the 7-10 days is spot on . I won't check their soil again until the 7th day. started LST couple days ago on the main plant, she's reaching upward now. I just can't wait for her top 2 leafs that were affected from the over watering to recover, it just bothers me seeing her like this lol. on the other hand our second girl is looking real good. I won't make the same mistake with her.

start of week 6 for plant 1. nothing much to report, i gave her a watering today. last time she was watered was 11 days ago. good learning experience so far, i think I'll do much better the next go around. plant 2 is looking better than plant 1 from when plant 1 was 30 days old. i think it is because the mistakes i was making with plant 1 I was able to stop doing to plant 2. but still, on my next grow attempt there are some errors early on that i can avoid next time and hopefully have bigger girls.

This is why we usually try to keep them in a seedling tray for a bit until they are shooting out roots. Too hard to measure watering amounts and they grow slow in a huge medium. Hope she pulls through it! 2 cups of water per day is way too much for a little seedling. Maybe next time keep one in a seedling tray for 2 weeks, then put into a solo cup for 1 week, then into the big girl 3-5 gallon pot.

@jourelemode, 1/10th container size for water, like every 4 or 5 days. I have been using this ratio and it's been perfect, that's why I'm recommending it.

@jourelemode, so for watering, it was past on to me by @stick. With seedlings and early vegging you want to water about 1/10th the bucket size. And later, in larger containers, with more thirsty plants you may go up to 15-20% of the container size. This only works if plants are in proper containers. Seedlings only need a very small amount if water and should be in small medium like rockwool or other types of grow plugs, then moved to bigger container (like solo cup) when they outgrow that one. It's like you don't put a baby in a regular car seat, they need a baby seat (grow plug in seedling tray), then when bigger need a toddler seat (solo cup), then when they outgrow that they get a regular car seat (which in this example is their final pot like 3-5 gallon).

@BeefWellingtons, i actually have 1 in a solo cup right now which sprouted yesterday. Decided to try this method as per your instruction last week, just to see the difference with both ways of growing. Regarding the 2 cups of water, tomorrow ill check the soils moisture and will only water as needed. 1 thing though, i see in a lot of peoples diary that they water between 0.13 to 0.26gal per plant per day...even in the early weeks. So this is not accurate? Ive been basing my watering on that and some youtube vids i watched.

Hey thanks for answering my question guys. I guess i wont be watering them for at least 3 days. Ill check the soil color again after 3 days.

If your going to put it directly into a big pot like that, I wouldn't. Get some rapid rooters and a heated seedling tray. Run them under a cfl until multiple roots pop out the bottom, then after they are a couple of inches high, put them into the big pots. It makes things a lot easier. Seedlings need to be babied more and watering has to be right on, not too much, not too little. Also big lights can be rough on little babies. Good luck with your grow!

@jourelemode, they will probably pop for you, just wanted to suggest an easier/more effective method for the future.

@BeefWellingtons, thank you for your input! Ill give that a go if worst comes to worst but i hope not. 🤞

I think also a reason that these are smaller is partially due to a lack of early root development. Would suggest using a nutrient solution aimed at promoting root growth, and as others have said before, graduate the seedlings from smaller containers to larger once they've grown some. By filling the top of your containers with coco coir, the first couple of weeks of growth of the seedlings could be stunted as they can't immediately grow roots to the bottom of such a large container to access the rich soil there. Autoflowers are going to be less forgiving, because they're not going to fix themselves after going into flower. Good luck with the rest of your grow 😊

There is no point to do a public web diary when a lot of info are missing and you can't even upload some decent photos without the leds on. Good luck anyway!

lowered my light from 18inch to 12inch today. was just looking at the specs on my light and saw the par to height ratio and decided to do some research. turns out from 18inch with my light they werent getting nearly enough usable light. at 12inch theyre getting around 500 par now, so hopefully that will help them grow better. these ladies are tiny for their age. good learning experience!

Ok, so one has popped and i checked the other seed and nothing didnt even root. I have a backup seed thats germinated, ill probably stick it in a solo cup before putting it in the big pot.
