Divine Seeds - Autoflower Contest - White Widow Auto
gonna give these contests a try, reached out to divine seeds and they promptly shipped out a 3-pack of their "White Widow Autoflower" as well as a 3-pack of their "OG Kush Feminized Photoperiod" for the non-auto contest. so i put these 3 in a damp paper towel for 36 hrs in dry, dark, moderate temperature area, today i had 12mm taproots sprouting from all 3 so they went into 4 gallon pots and i threw them in my tent to give them a boost to start out, my plan is to experience autoflowers as houseplants with only minimal maintenance, only the second run of autos ive tried and im saddled with the usual prejudices against these abominations, mainly i dont see the use in creating them...rather than beginner-friendly nonsense i find them a hindrance to learning about the plant and the hobby of indoor gardening itself as they take away the majority of control over the lifecycle and the product is sub-par generally when compared to even feminized photoperiods which i also find distasteful for the experienced cultivator. my suspicion is their ONLY use is an idiot-proof source of washable bio-mass which anyone who enjoys fine flower to smoke would turn their nose up at most auto flower flower. anyways ill keep one for flower and toss the other two in the freezer at harvest and press some rosin with them...after they get into the veg phase im pulling them out of the tent and placing them in natural light throughout the house...i figure so long as i dont have to sacrifices precious tent-space they wont cause too much trouble.
since this is monday and i like to schedule my grows around a monday-sunday work week so despite being barely crawling out of the soil i'm calling this the start of week 1 of veg or whatever an autoflower calls the run-up to pre-flower, i'm going to let them start to blow up and just tie them down to keep them "window-sized"..at most 3 weeks in the tent, most likely 2 weeks then ill locate each to it's own window and get them "dolled up" so they can be enjoyed for their aesthetics as a house plant, sort of a living statue or other objet d'art, conversation piece, air purifier, or whatever myriad roles people fill with house plants
here we are at the beginning of week two for these Divine Seeds White Widow Autoflower seedlings, they all seem to have their first true leaves and are slowly starting to get established but i can't say i'm 100% stoked from what i see so far but that could be because they are sharing a tent with my new mother plant from a different run which has blown up during this same week, the plan was after another week in the tent to locate them to a window to serve houseplant duty with minimal micro-managing but i doubt they will be capable of thriving without at least 2 more weeks...time will tell, shoudl be interesting next week -weewilly
sorry for the late update, these photos were taken today after relocation to natural light from my living room windows late monday evening, but for a mere 2 days "on their own" so to speak, they have, all three, shaken off the agonizing fortnight spent under 175watts of led full spectrum blasting 24hrs a day and nutrient solution about half as much more potent than usual and emerged into the light of the sun with defiant glares fed from the satisfaction of adapting and enduring long enough to being pushing out abundant shoots of undergrowth...the original plan was to get them established into veg and appreciate them as ornamentals in the living room, i had a half-bag of miracle gro time-release potted plant "sticks" and popped two into each of these girls and so far they have been thriving on it with a sensi calmagxtra foliar once or twice a day, ill "stick" with these until they are gone and if that doesnt take them all the way and they need food ill start giving them masterblend...in spite of entering this world as misshapen and scrawny they appear set to coast the rest of the way...no training, minimal defoliating only to remove dead foliage, let's just let them do their thing i say, check back next monday for further developments, peace -willy
nothing much to say, just another week of vegetation, they have started to stretch out towards the light more, i will stake them some time this week. -willy
update: staked them with a single bamboo shoot and light wire, they are all tall enough to be placed on the floor so some nice pictures next week of these plants all comfy like a pet, symbiotically filtering and processing each other's gaseous exchanges, and sometimes to be ignored for a day...they are taking 2L/2days right now, not a lot of light but sufficient and getting stronger so once they stretch out and start filling in they'll probably start chugging more nutrients...we'll see...they are all in peak health fwiw, i only see them in natural light and they are immaculate, peace -willy
welcome horticultural enthusiasts! this grow is basically on rails, got enough of the micracle-gro sticks to give each plant 2 more., they each have 3 now and my guesstimate is that each stick contains roughly a weeks worth of nutrients so they should be fine for the long-haul. the big girl is starting to emit a very pungent perfume with crazy stank on fingers should you stroke her stem *cough*, if i had a male that had this sort of bouquet he would definitely be filling up a pint-sized container with his man-goo...my dog decided to flex on me by taking a couple of nips from the lower fans...boundaries were made clear to him in no uncertain terms immediately upon discovery, all three have been staked with a thin bamboo shoot attached loosely with thin magnet wire at several points along their main stems. this will be their permanent location which i will beautify and maybe incorporate a 3-tier stand to get them off the floor and control the roof of the canopy...we'll see, no deficiencies or toxicities, been giving them around a liter or thereabouts every day when i think about them, been hitting them with foliar about twice daily as well...but i stopped once i started picking up the scents of developing sexual organs and i will not be a party to feeding the lurking spores which desire only evil...if this big girl pops off with a flavor profile in line with this stank then she'll be some decent smoke...this makes 4 weeks of veg...i assume we'll see some pistils at earliest by the end of the week...latest end of next week...check back next monday and ill have a better idea, thanks for checking out this grow of divine seeds' autoflowering interpretation o0f the classic white widow strain from my youth, head in the clouds...feet on the grass---peace - willy
sorry about the late-week post, my dog got ahold of 2 of the 3 plants, i managed to save one of them leaving these two ladies, both doing well, one is starting to show pre-flowers so there's that :D
