This is my second attempt. My first one was stopped in its tracks before it started. I kept the rapid rooter way too wet and dealt with root rot from about day 3 after sprout. It took a few weeks but I finally beat it with some compost tea. Too little too late though. There were pistols showing before new white roots really started to shoot out of the pot. So, lessons learned and here we go again. April 10th I dropped 2 seeds in RO water ph 5.8 with a pinch of mycorrhizae and trichoderma mixed in. After about a day I soaked 2 rapid rooters for about 2 hours in water with the same setup as the seeds. Squeezed out excess water, dropped the seeds in, point (taproot) up and covered the holes with a chunk of rooter then placed in the hydroton and covered with clear plastic cups. Once the seedlings fully emerged i removed the humidity domes. I feel I have the vpd fairly dialed in. 73-75 degrees and 75-80% humidity. Water in reservoir is RO with only silica, cal-mag and compost tea ph 5.8 and roughly 200 ppm. Water is about an inch from the net pot so I'll be top feeding with a pipette once a day until roots emerge from the net pot. Once roots emerge I'll start a very light dose of nutrients. I plan on using Floraflex nutrients full line. Not sure if I plan on using the foliar sprays or not yet.
Just kinda doing their thing this week. Had a root sticking out of a net pot on day 4. Root is just starting to emerge from the other net pot on day 7. 4/20 I did a full res change. I've also decided to do one with floraflex and one with cronk nutrients. They'll both have cronk nutrients monosilic acid, cronk cal-mag and Floraflex rootdrip. Tried to keep the ppm around the same (200-250) but introduce a very low dose of veg nutrients. I bought a new scale and unfortunately it's garbage when it comes to small weights so the floraflex ppm got a little higher than I wanted but I don't think it will be an issue. Have been slowly raising the DLI every day as well. Current DLI on day 7 is 14.98. Nutrient notes, ph and ppm are in the pictures.
Been slowly raising the DLI and lowering humidity to keep the VPD in check. DLI is a pinch over 20. High and low temps the last week were 68f to 75f. I currently have my inkbird set to keep the humidity between 59-63%. Other than that I've really just been checking the ph after work and before bed and adjusting as needed trying to keep it at roughly 6.0. They seem healthy for the most part and maybe it's just being new to this but I can't help but feel like they're a little small and behind. Hopefully they really start taking off in the next few days. Gave them fresh reservoirs Saturday.
Switched both plants to Floraflex. Was having reservoir issues with the liquid nutes. Plant is definitely looking better but so small now. The original floraflex plant was doing good but seems to have slowed down the leaves are drooping and new growth is coming in twisted. Going sterile from here on out. Tired of not knowing and constantly thinking I have root rot. Starting to wonder if that's my issue with the drooping and twisting. DLI has been slowly being bumped up. Roughly 360 PAR and 25 DLI. LST was done today (day 21)
I'm back! Almost gave up on these ladies but the genetics from Speedrun Seeds pulled through. They just patiently waited until I got the root issues figured out then proceeded to blow up. Floraflex Rootdrip saved roots without a doubt. I'll never run DWC without it again. Today was day 110. No idea what to expect for a dry weight just glad to be at my first harvest!
