Once they get around this size during week two, I go ahead and give them an adult dose (still half strength) even though the nutrient schedule says to treat clones as seedlings. The cloner is off to the right under indirect light from the 600W MH these are under. If you notice two plants are smaller, they were Topped at the 5th Node vs FIM'd. Notice I tend to have much less growth slowdown with the FIMming, than topping however the topping is more accurate at designing the plant. If you are strict about plant design or are manifolding ( I only topped those two plants as I am experimenting with manifolding for the first time), you should top, otherwise I suggest learning to FIM, its much less stressful.
In actuality, you do not, at least as far as I know in DWC, need to give clones a seedling dose after they have rooted into the reservoir. Since the clone is technically an adult plant (genetically?), it tends to do much better with an appropriate dose of nudes once its roots have been established. I only do a two week veg if I grow clones because if I give them a month they will quickly outgrow even my 8x8 tent.
I ALMOST FORGOT. IF YOU GROW IN HYDRO YOU ABOSOLUTELY NEED BOTANICARE HYDROGUARD.
It will protect your plants against root rot, it is a helpful bacterium that will consume your nutes and convert them to a form more readily absorbed by your plants, while outcompeating destructive bacteria. I have grown plants in 80 degree water with this stuff. It is not optional, unless you keep your plants at a FDA level of sanitation and your water chilled to perfect temperature. Even still a gallon of Botanicare Hydroguard is much cheaper.
How are people sleeping on this grow. This looks fantastic buddy. Your hard work clearly shows in your pictures. Keep on working hard like this and I'm sure you'll be in the top growers on this site in no time!
Cheers!
