Welcome to "Schroedinger's Plants," my first grow diary. This name isn't just a quirky choice—it comes from a (let's call it) gamble I took right at the start when I accidentally doubled up on the CALMAG FUSION in my grow medium, way over the recommended dosage. So, as of now, my plants might be thriving... or they might as well be toast. We’ll just have to wait and see.
As I embark on this new growing adventure under the banner of "Schroedinger's Plants," the stakes are uniquely high. With a fresh grow tent, new lighting, and upgraded ventilation in place, every detail feels more pronounced, more vital. This isn't just a new chapter; it's a whole new book.
As for Nutrients I got my hands on some Frosty Bud Nature All-In-One-Nutrimix thanks to a generous gift. These nutrients aren’t on the shelves for the public yet, so I’m really curious to see how they help my plants handle the extra CALMAG.
The key players in this saga are three promising FastBuds strains: "Apple Strudel," "Tropicana Cookies," and "Gorilla Zkittlez." Each brings its own distinct flair to the grow tent, hopefully. I’m thrilled to report a 100% germination rate—every single seed sprouted within two days! And just three days later, those sprouts were already breaking soil.
Will they thrive against the odds, or have I set the stage for a dramatic falter? Only time will reveal the fate of my Ladies. Either way, let’s find out what happens in "Schroedinger's Plants." I’ll keep you posted…...
Cheers

Weekly Report for Seedlings (01.05.2024 - 07.05.2024)
Welcome back to "Schroedinger's Plants," my experimental grow diary where the outcome of our gamble with CALMAG FUSION is still unfolding. With our high-stakes setup and new equipment, every observation is critical. Here’s a detailed report of the first week of growth for our key players: Apple Strudel, Tropicana Cookies, and Gorilla Zkittlez.
Overview
This report covers the first week of growth, documenting light cycles, water and nutrient administration, environmental conditions, and observations.
Key Observations and Actions
01.05.2024 - 03.05.2024:
Seedlings started in a healthy condition.
Alfa Boost nutrient introduced at 1ml/L with consistent pH of 6.5.
Environmental conditions stable with a day temperature of 24°C and night temperature of 20°C.
04.05.2024:
Increased water to 0.3L with a slight decrease in pH to 6.3.
Height recorded as follows:
Apple Strudel 5 cm.
Tropicana Cookies
05.05.2024:
No nutrient administration, maintaining previous watering regimen.
Temperature slightly lower at 23°C during the day and 18°C at night.
Humidity levels stable.
06.05.2024:
Water increased to 0.5L with pH 6.3.
Slight wilting and mild leaf bleaching observed, possibly indicating issues with water, light, humidity, or pH adjustment of foliar spray.
Investigated potential causes: under-watering, too much light, high relative humidity, unadjusted pH of AlfaBoost foliar spray.
07.05.2024:
Water reduced to 0.3L with a slight pH increase to 6.4.
Introduced BioBizz TopMax nutrient at 0.5ml/L. This is primarily a bloom nutrient I know, but it was the only thing laying around to be used. My informed guess is, that the seedling lack some magnesium, since they are only planted in straight Coco Coir and did not yet reach the nutrient denser layer beneath them. So this was me improvising on the fly.
Environmental conditions: Day temperature 24°C, night temperature 20°C, and adjusted humidity to 64%.
Mild nutrient solution applied, PPFD adjusted to approximately 180 µmol/m²/s, and leaves cleaned with distilled water to prevent further damage from light magnification by water droplets.
Summary
Overall, the seedlings have shown healthy growth in the first week with consistent environmental conditions. Minor issues such as slight wilting and leaf bleaching were observed towards the end of the week, prompting adjustments in watering practices, light intensity, and nutrient management. As we navigate the high stakes of "Schroedinger's Plants," each observation helps us fine-tune our approach to support optimal growth. Overview:
In the second week of our grow diary "Schroedinger's Plants," the Tropicana Cookies, Gorilla Zkittlez, and Apple Strudel strains have shown varied yet overall positive growth under controlled conditions. Each strain continues to progress well, with interventions to address minor issues.
Plant Specifics:
1. Tropicana Cookies:
Growth: The plant height increased from 8 cm to 11.5 cm throughout the week, showing healthy growth.
Health: Plant health remained robust, marked by the continued green color stabilization and decrease in vein thickness initially noted.
Interventions: Regular doses of Alfa Boost and Epsom Salt were administered to maintain nutrition and micronutrient levels. A notable treatment for fungus gnats (Trauermücken) using nematodes was applied early in the week, which required adjustments in watering to facilitate effective nematode deployment.
Environmental Conditions: The environment was stable with slight increases in daytime and nighttime temperatures towards the end of the week.
2. Gorilla Zkittlez:
Growth: Progressed from 7 cm to 9.5 cm in height by the end of the week.
Health: Similar to Tropicana Cookies, this strain exhibited signs of early nutrient issues (thickening of veins and lighter green in new growth) that were effectively managed, leading to improved color and reduced vein prominence.
Interventions: Application of Alfa Boost and Epsom Salt continued, adjusting as needed based on plant response. Plans to increase PPFD (photosynthetic photon flux density) were made to encourage stronger growth responses.
Challenges: Like the other strains, initial signs of fungus gnat (Trauermücken) were addressed with nematodes.
3. Apple Strudel:
Growth: Showed a steady increase from 6.5 cm to 9 cm.
Health: Initial challenges with vein thickness and lighter green patches were managed through similar nutrient adjustments as the other strains.
Interventions: Consistent nutrient management with Alfa Boost and Epsom Salt helped stabilize growth and coloration. Caught up with the others by the end of the week, after initially lagging slightly behind in growth.
Environmental Notes: The plant environment was kept stable, mirroring the conditions of the other strains with slight temperature increases noted towards the week's end.
General Observations and Actions:
Pest Management: The introduction of nematodes early in the week helped manage the presence of Trauermücken across all plants, a necessary step to prevent infestations.
Nutrient Management: The consistent use of Alfa Boost and Epsom Salt across all strains helped address minor nutrient imbalances seen as vein thickening and changes in leaf coloration.
Environmental Control: Slight increases in temperature and adjustments in humidity levels were monitored to ensure optimal growth conditions. These adjustments were crucial as the plants transition from seedling to more mature vegetative stages.
Conclusion:
The second week showed promising growth and stability across all strains. While minor issues were quickly addressed through targeted interventions, the overall health of the plants remained strong. Moving forward, the focus will be on maintaining this momentum and carefully monitoring environmental parameters and plant responses to optimize growth. The increase in PPFD will be particularly interesting to follow in terms of its impact on growth rates and overall plant vigor. In week 3 we'll also start with LST-Training the Ladies.
Cheers,
Week 3 Grow Diary Report: Days 15-21
As we progress into the third week each of our strains—Tropicana Cookies, Gorilla Zkittlez, and Apple Strudel—continues to showcase impressive growth and resilience. This week, particular attention was given to optimizing environmental conditions, including an increase in CO2 levels (Growbag), adjustments in lighting (PPFD increase) to support the vegetative growth phase and introducing some light LST.
Tropicana Cookies:
Significant growth was observed, with plant height increasing from 12.5 cm to 18.5 cm. This rapid growth spurt, referred to locally as "stretching," was noticeable mid-week.
The plants have maintained their health with no major issues, responding well to environmental adjustments. Continued nutrient regimen with Alfa Boost. Since the soil is preamendet with nutrients, I just use PH-balanced water. Lighting intensity was increased progressively from 350 PPFD to 380 PPFD and then to 400 PPFD and CO2 supplementation was implemented to support enhanced photosynthesis.
Environmental Conditions maintained stable with temperatures ranging from 27°C during the day to 21-25°C at night, with relative humidity around 64-68%.
Gorilla Zkittlez:
Growth was steady, increasing from 10.2 cm to 15 cm. The plant has responded well to environmental controls and nutrient supply.
Gorilla Zkittlez remains in good health, with no signs of nutrient burn or deficiencies.
Apple Strudel:
This strain showed a healthy increase from 9.5 cm to 14 cm. Growth rates are slightly behind Tropicana Cookies but on par with expected metrics for the strain.
She continues to exhibit good health, benefiting from the stable grow conditions and targeted nutrient applications.
Week 3 has shown promising developments with all strains demonstrating robust growth and good health. The environmental adjustments, particularly the increased CO2 supplementation and lighting, appear to be positively impacting the plants' growth dynamics. As we move forward, it will be important to continue monitoring these conditions closely to ensure that they remain optimal for each stage of plant development.
Cheers,
D.

Week 7 Update: The Adventures of Schrödinger’s Plants
Tropicana Cookies
Our Tropicana Cookies has been the star of a nutrient drama this week. Picture this: our beloved plant is caught in a wrestling match with phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) lockout, with a sneaky salt build-up adding to the chaos. Early in the week, the tension was palpable as the lockout saga continued unabated. We watched, hoping for a sign, but the situation seemed to escalate.
By midweek, we decided to intervene with a refreshing 5 liters of pH 6.2 water, hoping to calm things down. But Tropicana wasn’t ready to give up the drama just yet. In an effort to turn the tide, we introduced compost – our secret weapon. The next day, we brewed up a special compost tea, thinking a magical potion might do the trick. With 1 liter of this elixir mixed in 3 liters of water, we awaited the transformation.
Determined, we provided another dose of hydration with 4 liters of pH 6.3 water. Then came the grand finale. A dramatic 45-liter flush with dechlorinated tap water, aiming to cleanse the roots and reset the stage. We brought down the salt build-up from a shocking EC of 6.8 to a more manageable 2.5. To cap it off, we offered a feast of nutrients – 20g each of 2-4-4 and 6-12-8 fertilizers, plus worm castings. Now, we wait to see if Tropicana Cookies will rise victorious.
Gorilla Zkittles
While Tropicana was embroiled in drama, Gorilla Zkittles maintained its zen. Imagine a peaceful sanctuary where the plants bask in tranquility. Starting the week with no extra care needed, Gorilla Zkittles simply enjoyed the good vibes. A midweek drink of 5 liters of pH 6.2 water kept the calm.
We decided to sprinkle some compost into the mix, ensuring the soil was rich and lively. A luxurious spa day followed, featuring 1 liter of compost tea in 3 liters of pH 6.3 water. By the week's end, Gorilla Zkittles was still the epitome of health, thriving without any fuss. It’s the zen master of our grow tent, for sure.
Apple Strudel
Our Apple Strudel began the week with a hint of chlorosis but quickly showed signs of recovery. Chlorosis started to fade, and optimism grew. A nourishing drink of 5 liters of pH 6.2 water, enhanced with Alfa Boost and Top Max, provided the needed boost.
Taking a day to rest, Apple Strudel focused on soaking up the goodness. Compost was introduced to enrich the soil, followed by another dose of our magical compost tea. The mix of 1 liter of tea in 3 liters of pH 6.3 water seemed to work wonders. By the week's end, Apple Strudel had bounced back beautifully, with vibrant green leaves replacing the earlier signs of distress.
Conclusion
This week in Schrödinger’s Plants was a rollercoaster of emotions and plant care. Tropicana Cookies faced intense nutrient lockout drama, but we threw everything at it – from compost to a heroic flush. Gorilla Zkittles, the zen master, remained calm and healthy throughout. And Apple Strudel, our comeback kid, shook off chlorosis and thrived.
Stay tuned for next week’s episode of Schrödinger’s Plants – will Tropicana Cookies overcome the nutrient lockout? Will Gorilla Zkittles continue its serene journey? Will Apple Strudel become the greenest of them all? Find out soon!
