After another wee hiatus I am back in the grow tent! A couple of weeks later than intended as, despite what the diary reflects, I had 3 x Ape Fruit Auto seeds from the Beginner Mix Auto pack fail and only this one survived. First time around I ran two in peat, only one popped but damped off before it even opened, the other never appeared.
I then ran another two (including this guy - Uncle Abe - short for Ebenezer - yes, he's a she) and initially only this boy popped. The second seed did actually pop but very late, and it hid from the light that this guy was praying to (which was only providing 9 DLI). So I don't really know what went wrong, the seeds have been with me for a couple of years, they may be a bit past their best. Anyway, LET'S GO!
02/03/2024: My last remaining Ape Fruit Auto seeds go in their fully expanded wet pallets and sit in the warm tent in the darkness.
10/03/2024 (day 1): Uncle Abe is born! Lights on! Instinctively do just a tiny bit of misting in a ring, well away from the stem.
Week 1 (11 March 2023 - 17 March 2024)
12/03/2024 (day 3): No photo but records reflect that she stood at 7.5cm this day. What a time to be alive.
14/03/2024 (day 5): DLI is still sitting at 9.15. Believe she got another wee mist.
15/03/2024 (day 6): I was hoping the second seed would pop properly. See if you can spot it in the pic.
16/03/2024 (day 7): Watered. Starting to catch some rays on those leaves.
17/03/2024 (day 8): Uncle Abe is getting big!
Week 2 (18 March 2023 - 24 March 2024)
18/03/2024 (day 9): Watered Uncle A with 100ml to last two days in a ring. He seems to be taking the water up nicely. Still no nutes in the mix. Turned the fan on with the intention of building stem resilience. Nek minnit.
19/03/2024 (day 10): Enter the tent to find Uncle A lying in the dirt (but still praying plaintively to the sky). Turn the fan off and curse myself. Add a little twisty tie loop for support to get him off the ground.
20/03/2024 (day 11): Another 100ml for Uncle A. He is back on his feet but looks to be on a permanent lean. No worries.
21/03/2024 (day 12): DLI is raised to 16.2 as we're getting into proper vegetative growth now.
22/03/2024 (day 13): Another watering, we are almost recovered from our fall. Poor Uncle A.
23/03/2024 (day 14): Now we're cooking with gas. Uncle A is 9.5cm tall!
24/03/2024 (day 15): Some true leaves developing and I celebrate with my first watering including nutrients. Just a homeopathic dose of about 1ml of each vegetative nutrient to accompany what I think was about 250ml of water. Will get some growing techniques on next week :)
Week 3 (25 March 2023 - 31 March 2024)
25/03/2024 (day 16): No photo! No water!
26/03/2024 (day 17): As of the 26th I am 9.5cm (oncemore?). Pictured in the first Day 17 pic you can see I have been topped recently. I'm not exactly sure when that was though. I seem to have been watered today.
27/03/2024 (day 18): I seem to have also been watered today.
28/03/2024 (day 19): I have beautiful new nodes reflecting my topping.
29/03/2024 (day 20) - 31/03/2024 (day 22): No notes or pics available but it's inconceivable that I didn't get watered/looked after!
