Germination
2y ago
Walkmancharly On April 25th, I started germinating the seed in a glass of water since it was already 3 years old. After 2 days, you could already see that the seed had opened and a small root (2mm) was coming out of it. So I planted the seed on April 27th in the fabric pot filled with 8 liters of soil.

Walkmancharly It took 5 days for the little sprout to come out of the soil. For the first 2 days, I had a dome over it. The humidity was at 75%, and the temperatures were around 26°C during the day and about 20°C at night. Since the soil isn't very airy and holds moisture for a long time, I tried to water as little as possible. Therefore, I only misted the soil on days 2, 4, and 6. The light was initially set at a distance of 60 cm according to Mars Hydro's recommendation. However, I noticed yellow spots on the tips of the leaves and raised it to 90 cm. According to the Photone app, it's now about 300 ppfd. After 2 days, I removed the dome, and the humidity is now averaging 60% with a temperature of 25°C. Update at the end of Week 1: The yellow tips and relatively slow growth could also be due to the fact that I've been regulating the humidity in the room as best as I can with a spray bottle, which may have caused too much water to accumulate on the leaves, stressing the plant further with the light. I hope Week 2 will be better accordingly ;)

Walkmancharly After the first week started a bit rocky with a few small mistakes, I'm looking confidently into the 2nd week. I won't change anything in the setup for now and will see how the little one reacts. 12/05/24: I haven't watered for 3 days and didn't repot, but I partially replaced the soil with airier soil. I hope that as soon as the roots reach the airier soil, the growth will progress better. Also, it's growing a bit strangely... we'll see.

Hey there, sounds like your plant’s being a bit stubborn. Here’s the lowdown on what might be going on and what you can do about it. What Might Be Happening Slow Growth: Some plants just take their time. It doesn’t necessarily mean something’s wrong. If the plant looks healthy otherwise, it might just be a slow starter. Sometimes, patience is key. Possible Mutation: Occasionally, plants end up with mutations that cause weird growth patterns—like deformed leaves or no new leaves from the center. If you’re seeing strange, non-symmetrical growth, it could be a genetic thing. Light Issues: Too much light too early can stress your plant and stunt its growth. If the growth tip looks burnt or damaged, your light setup might be too intense. Dialing it down could help the plant recover and start growing normally. What You Can Do First off, give it a bit more time. Keep an eye on it for any signs of new growth. Plants can surprise you and suddenly take off when you least expect it. Next, check your lighting. If you think it might be too strong, try moving the light a bit further away or reducing the intensity. Plants can get light-burned if the lights are too close or too bright. Also, inspect the growing tip. Make sure it’s not damaged or burnt. A healthy growing tip is crucial for new leaf development. If, after some time, nothing seems to change and your plant isn’t growing any new leaves, it might be quicker to start fresh with a new seed. Sometimes, that’s just how it goes. In the meantime, keep the conditions optimal—right soil, proper watering, and the right amount of light. Stay patient and keep those good vibes flowing. Your plant will likely bounce back and start growing strong.

Walkmancharly At the beginning of week 3, a faster growth can now be observed. Watering was done only when the soil was almost dust-dry. The conditions are all quite constant, only the nighttime temperature could be a bit higher. The lamp is hung as high as it can go… I'm still not sure if it will grow normally from now on, we'll see. End of the week: Apparently, it has actually developed 2 main stems on its own. Otherwise, it looks healthy and I'm excited to see the further growth.

Walkmancharly In week 4, the growth finally starts to pick up. I've hung the light at a distance of 45 cm (about 350 ppfd / 22 DLI). I only watered them once at the beginning of the week with regular tap water (pH 6.4), but I will water again towards the end of the week with 1ml/l Bio Grow from BioBizz. The plant is slowly starting to smell, but it's more of a typical greenhouse scent and not yet the terpenes. I'm carefully bending the leaves that cover the new shoots so that enough light reaches the new upper shoots, but still without wire, etc. The first white pistils are already visible; I hope it takes a while until the actual flowering starts...

Walkmancharly Week 5 is starting off really well, everything is in a good range. I'm going to do as much LST as possible so that she can utilize the 40x40 as best as she can and not get too tall. Unfortunately, she is planted very one-sided in the pot, as I actually wanted to bend the plant to the other side, but she kind of threw a wrench in my plans...

Walkmancharly Week 6 starts without any issues. The plant is growing very well and is also very dense due to daily LST. On day 37, I cut off a few bothersome leaves and small flower stems for the first time, so that enough energy and light can be transported to the upper half of the plant. Throughout the week, I kept cutting off a few small shoots and leaves that were in the way. On day 40, I watered again with 2 liters, adding 1ml/l of the respective nutrients. The plant is definitely getting thirstier, and I estimate and hope that it will go into stretch next week.

Walkmancharly In week 7, everything is still going according to plan. I water every 3-4 days with about 2 liters each time, alternating with and without nutrients. The buds are slowly starting to take shape; let's see how much more they grow. On the last day of week 7, I watered again with 2 liters and 2 ml/l of nutrients. I also used the "Bottom-Watering" principle.

Walkmancharly So far, everything looks great, I just hope for a bit more growth. I water every 3 days with about 2.5 liters. Every other time I fertilize, and otherwise just normal water with a pH value of 6.4. Also, I water the plant from the bottom so it can absorb as much water as possible on its own.

Walkmancharly This week I started to fertilize a bit with cal-mag. The plant responded well to it, but towards the end, the yellow leaves are more of a sign of the end of the flowering phase, I think. I watered as usual, alternating between with and without fertilizer.

Walkmancharly The buds are gaining weight nicely, but I'm still hoping for a bit more "frost." The pH value of the runoff was 6.0, which is still relatively okay. The smell is very fruity.

Walkmancharly From now on, I will only water with plain water. The trichomes are starting to turn milky, and the smell is really nice. I'm still hoping for a little purple coloring, well, we'll see...

Walkmancharly I'm now checking the trichomes every day... they're slowly all turning milky, but there are still too many clear trichomes for my liking. I'm watering with regular water without nutrients at a pH of 6.2. Additionally, there are already some purple spots appearing on the leaves. By the end of the week, the trichomes are now almost exclusively milky and about 10% amber. On day 83, I harvested after 24 hours of darkness.

Happy Harvest Day!

Walkmancharly I hung the buds in the grow tent. The temperature is between 20 and 23°C, with 55-60% humidity. The exhaust with activated carbon filter is running at 30% power, and the fan in the tent is pointing towards the ground on the lowest setting.
