I am going to grow my first cannabis plant, but I have to move and have a tight schedule for them to grow. So I wanted to keep it as simple as much, but still with a bit of effort to get a good and healthy plant ( and a good and big harvest, hopefully). So I decided for an automatic strain, one which sounded good to me and was affordable. Zamnesia seeds was the shop which I found to be have a good variety to choose.
I decided to buy and grow 3x Caramel Automatic and 3x Purple Haze from Zamensia Seeds. (~35€)
By now I have my seeds ready to go but still waitin for my plantpots and soil to arrive. Still gotta be patient.
Gonna take you through my ideas for my growing
Setup:
My window has a board, which would be perfekt to grow as it has sun from midday to evening and is wide enough to fit 3 to 6 pots.
For the plants I am going to try to different soils. One is the classic Bio-Bizz light mix and the other will be the Floragard growmix (30€) . Additionally I will use mykorhiza powder and the root juice by Bio-bizz ( 30€) , for the grow and floweringphase I will use the bio-bizz indoor try-kit( 22€). The pot sizes are 9,4l round and 14l square. (35€)
Although the plants will be near a window I decided to buy a LED-Growlight. Saw some others here growing with the Fecida and had good results and it was also affordable (120€). To get the maximum of light for the plants, a blanket with aluminumcoating(5€) will be attached on the inner wall over the window. Due to this, the plants are getting the most of the sunlight and the growlight. A disadvantage will be to not use the window and it’s not gonna be airtight, but some comprises have to be made. A ventilator fan( 7€) will be installed inside the „window growbox“. To get a bit more humidity I will put some wet towels beneath the pots which will keep (hopefully) the humidity up, even if its not completely sealed. The growlight will be hanging above the plants, but mor tilted to the window, so the back of the plants will also get a lot of light. To check humidity and temperature and to time the light I bought a hydrometer/thermometer and a clocktimer (6€) + waterspraybottle 1,5l (8€)
Overall cost:
Seeds.
17€( for 3plants)
Light
120€ ( LED)
Pots
35€( 5x)
Soil.
30€ ( 50 + 70l)
Nutrients.
52€ ( 30€ for up to 10 plants)
Additions
21€
Overall cost:
258€ / 275€ 6plants
As most of the money is spent on things that will be used again, it seems reasonable to me and will be alright for my desires.
Growphase:
The seeds are going to be germinated in water and planted into the final pot after the main root is startin to grow. By transplanting into the bigger pot mycorrhiza will be added to the hole, after covering up the seedling with soil it will be watered with a spraybottle. I will add some of the rootjuice before covering it up with half a plastic bottle.
For the seedling phase I will not use full power on the light but still 16-18h of light, so they don’t get stressed by the light. After they build the first 4 leaves I will switch giving more power ( 18h LED Light + sun). When they about to reach the top of the plastic bottle I will remove the cover and start to feed em nutrients.
Think the vegetation phase will be work intensive, as automatics need no stress to get healthy and grow bigger. I will start to attach strings when the plants will start showing some more leaves, so they get bend and are more widespread. I will adjust my watering by the needs of the plant, I mean there are some ways for that.(Finger in soil) I will add some more nutrients in the 3 or 4 week. To get a bit more humidity in my setup, I will add a wet towel, which hopefully adds a bit more hydrogen in the air.
Until the first blooming begins nothing more will be done. At first I will add the flower nutrients and let them sit for a few days . Then I will start prune some of the leaves away and the tiny branches, which I read leads to a higher harvest, even for automatics. When the buds are starting to get shape, I intend to lower the lighthours but keepin the power on a high level. ( in my theory this should trigger the genetics of the Caramel to form better and bigger buds.)
I am not going use a microscope or something, I will check the trichomes with my smartphone camera and try to see some when the recommended time is, but in the end its just gonna be the decision when think it would be best.
For the dryphase I don’t know really where and what I will do, but I am eager to hear your opinions.
