Beginning of week 10(veg): Wow the progress this week. Biggie smalls(Short one) really took off. I added my flowering LED light for these girls and they are loving it! I moved the girls into the flower tent for now. The ventilation inside my closet is horrible and I think I’m seeing white mildew spots on some leaves =( Now that they’ve been inside the grow tent for about 4 days I don’t see any signs of the white spots, which is a relief. I defoliated biggie smalls yesterday, which made it so I could really see the branch structure underneath there. I’m really happy with what I see, some really good looking branches. They no longer need the ties, they seem to be growing how I want them to, and when they don’t I give them a little bend to match the canopy height. I’m going on vacation in a month so I set purchased a drip system from amazon. After spending about 20 minute setting it up, and then painstakingly driving the stakes into the roots of my plants, I realized the product didn’t actually work. I’ve purchased another pump and some hosing, we’ll give this another go when it arrives. I’ll be feeding them again tomorrow. One more week of veg for Biggie Smalls and then she’s going for 2 days of darkness and flower. Really excited for that. Hopefully she continues the strong growth over the next week.

Grow Questions

Should I be feeding my clones in veg? I keep them in solo cups for 1 month, afterwards transplanted to a 3 gallon pot. Soil is fertilized, so I don't think I should be feeding, but my clones seem small. Soil: Fox farm ocean forest

If the soil is fertilised then you shouldn't need to feed anything , and if you truly must feed something to keep yourself busy try enzymes or humic & fluvik acids . They seem slow from being root bound because they stayed too long in those solo cups. You should be checking your incoming pH if you can, might be a bit high if they are showing the start of Cal/mag deficiency , what you can do if you have any on hand is make a foliar spray with it , spray until dripping wet every day for 5 days and see if they "recover" I put that in quotes because it doesn't seem like very serious. Hope this helps ! 🚀

When she's in early bloom should I continue to train with the trellis net(Tucking tall tops under so they're all even)? Or should I leave her alone and let her stretch?

When you are scroging with a net you want to fill the whole net with the canopy so you should continue your training until the end if the stretch to maximuse the benefits

@Gordy, yea sometimes you get a little of that smell but proper curing should get rid of it. Glad to hear it was Great👍. She looks to be trained pretty well to me! Hey learning from little mistakes like that from the first plant are what makes us better growers. No matter how much we know there's always something to learn and or learn from you know?. Keep up the awesome work sending positive vibes! HoffGuyy

@Thee_HoffGuyy, Thanks, I'm really happy with how that plant came out. I've probably done about 800 hours of Youtube research on growing, so I was very ready to grow. Sadly I didn't learn enough about training for my first girl. This one should be impressive looking in a few weeks, she was trained well... I think. 😉 After trimming and hanging my first harvest in the grow tent it smelled like hay as well. I was so worried that I grew garbage bud, but it is great.

Hey there, hope I answered your question , maybe consider flushing the tall clone with that nutrient burn you want it 10/10 going into flower... I've seen loads of folks having issues with pre fertilised soils even (especially) the fox farm ones... You're doing good though, let me know if you have any more questions 🚀

@Gordy, so basically to flush you want to water until the first run off happens then water 20% more than that, squeeze out the excess water and your done. One word of advice though flush when you're supposed to water and follow the wet dry cycle of the soil. Flushing is not a requirement but for you it is because of over fertilisation. I flush and the end of the grow because it really helps with the quality of the final product

@CRiSPrGrow, I've never flushed my plants. Honestly I've never seen water come from the base of my pots. I've wanted to flush my first plant, but i put it in a 10 gallon pot, and i don't know how much water that would take. So i just haven't done it. Is flushing a requirement for an organic grow? How much water do you think you would use to flush a 3 gallon pot?

@Gordy, yeah that's the thing with these pre fertilised soils , maybe even check the outgoing pH... I'm probably bring paranoid though: after all you're not really seeing any real pH issues

@Thee_HoffGuyy, Hey, I'm feeling amazing. Had my first bowl in 2 and a half days. I'm already surprised at how much the buds are starting to bulk up. Now that I'm giving her full nutes and I've done a pretty aggressive defoliation she should fatten up and hopefully stretch a few more inches. Thanks for the positive vibes and checking out my diary!

Looking great man!!👊 Hope that droopiness goes away sounds like your on top of it.👍 What node did you top Her at? I gotta do mine soon cuz I know its going to stretch a good amount in flower so I don't wanna let it get to big before I top you kno?

@Gordy, yea she looks awesome!! yeah i was thinking 5th too just wanted to see what you did cuz that was a decent height, and yea I've topped really early too before luckily never had a plant die but did stress the hell out of em but you can do the 3rd as long as its healthy I don't see why not yours had good results. Glad to hear She has perked back up😎!!! And Hey just cuz your new at growing does Not mean you can't give good advice!!👍 that helped me alot because I needed a reference plant like yours to gauge the stretch and make sure i have the height.

@Thee_HoffGuyy, Thanks! Hope you're doing well. She has already recovered from the droopiness. It was just a lack of water. I checked her last night and she's perky as hell. Please keep in mind I'm still new to growing, and my advice may be bogus. I topped her when she had 5 nodes. But I topped it down to just above the 3rd, which I think is pretty aggressive. A video I watched on topping said that you should do it at 5 nodes, and that removing each node reduces the chance that it will live by 20% so since I chopped her down to only 3 nodes, I guess I only had a 60% chance of her living. I think topping earlier and doing it a few times is the way to go. I tried to mess with her as little as possible as she got closer to flower. Hopefully something in there is useful. Thanks for checking out my diary!
