Managing Humidity Initially, I kept the greenhouse entrances completely closed because the temperatures were not very high. However, as the humidity levels increased too much, I had to open the entrances halfway. In the evenings, I close everything again. These adjustments aim to promote vigorous growth and prepare the plants for flowering. Weather and Growth With significant weather improvements, my plants are thriving at full speed. Weather Conditions and Plant Health Unfortunately, the weather in Germany has turned to consistent rain over the next five days, which is less than ideal for the final growth phase. To protect the plants, I've moved them into the greenhouse full-time. This controlled environment shields them from adverse weather conditions, ensuring stable conditions for continued growth. Pest Management I'm pleased to report minimal pest issues thus far. Nightly patrols continue to manage the snail population effectively, supported by lettuce leaf traps. There have been no signs of spider mites, aphids, or thrips, providing relief. With the ongoing rainy weather, I remain vigilant against potential snail problems. Low-Stress Training (LST) Update The plants I trained with LST have responded positively and continue to develop well. I did some more LST to maximize light to the colas. The canopy remains even, and the bud sites are receiving ample light, allowing for a slight upward stretch to maximize bud growth during these final weeks of flowering. I try not to cut off any fan leaves because I think they're here for a reason. I like to tug them behind the steam or the side branches. Only if the leaves show significant signs of illness or pest then I remove them. Looking Ahead As we move further into the flowering stage, my focus will be on maintaining optimal conditions to maximize bud development and resin production. I am also diligently monitoring the humidity levels in the greenhouse, as this is crucial for preventing mold growth. Update 03.07 What is noticeable is that both untrained plants are entering the full flowering mode faster than the trained ones. Have you had similar experiences? Update 05.07 Today I checked the girls and found the Banana purple punch with the top leaves starting to curl down. After asking the community I found out that everything looks like a starting nitrogen toxicity. But only on that plant. Seems kind of strange that the others having no issues at all despite having the same amount of nutes. I decided to treat the symptoms a once so I flushed with 5l PH water. The first runoff was a little lower (5.5 / EC 1.09) but not really concerning. Afterwards I give the plant the half amount of the tripart flowering scheme (with added CalMag 2 ml/l PH 6.2). This change should promote some nice growth in the ladies. The increase in warmth will help accelerate bud development, and I expect to see significant progress in the coming days. Nitrogen Toxicity Banana Purple Punch After the initial intervention two days ago, the situation has not worsened. I am monitoring the growth of the newly emerging leaves to ensure they do not continue to curl downward. The pH level of the runoff looks good, sitting exactly in the ideal range (6). I hope the plant recovers quickly and that growth and yield are not adversely affected. Feeding and Watering Adjustments With the warmer weather, I have adjusted my watering schedule to ensure the plants remain hydrated. I’m now giving each 11-liter pot 3 liters of nutrient solution to prevent salt buildup. This should help keep the plants healthy and promote optimal growth. Pest Control A few leaves have slight holes due to snail damage, but otherwise, there are no significant pest problems. The plants are still kept in the greenhouse overnight due to the high snail population. I don’t want to serve the ladies to the snails on a silver platter. Bud Development The buds are swelling nicely, and the resin production is increasing. The plants are showing significant signs of maturity, with the aroma intensifying. The trichomes are developing well, and I’m pleased with the progress so far. Blue Dream: This strain has the largest buds so far, and the smell is the most intense. Banana Purple Punch: The buds are also looking good, but the aroma is weaker compared to Blue Dream. Gorilla Cookies: This plant has had a growth spurt and is showing beautiful tops with white hairs. Tangie: After the initial pre-flowering, Tangie has not formed many buds and is still in the full stretch phase. Low-Stress Training (LST) Update I am no longer tying the plants down. Instead, I am bending some branches in different directions to ensure all the shoots receive sufficient light. I have removed very few large leaves but am tucking the leaves out of the way. This unpredictable weather presents a challenge, but I remain hopeful for continued growth. Snail Attack I had been leaving the plants outside overnight, but during a late-night check, I found three giant slugs feasting on my Gorilla Cookies buds. These damn snails just won't give up. I'm seriously considering installing some kind of automatic deterrent system. Feeding and Watering Consistency The amount of water and nutrients remains unchanged. Each plant continues to receive 3 liters of nutrient solution in their 11-liter pots to prevent salt buildup and ensure optimal growth. Growth Observations Banana Purple Punch and Blue Dream: Both strains seem to have halted their vertical growth. They are now fully focused on bud development. Tangie: This plant is still vigorously growing with new shoots appearing everywhere. Tangie seems perfect for low-stress training (LST) and could probably handle a well-timed topping without issues. I had to do some light defoliation to make sure everything receives enough light. Gorilla Cookies: While it’s not growing as aggressively as before, it is concentrating on flowering. Despite this, it continues to gain some height. Looking Ahead As the flowering stage progresses, I'm eager to see how the plants adapt to the changing weather conditions and how they continue to develop. Despite the challenges, the plants are showing resilience, and the buds are looking promising. Update 18.07: Pest Problems Bad news, growmies. During my daily inspection today, I discovered some unwelcome pests. Some leaves on all the plants had white or silver dots, which I suspect are caused by thrips. The Banana Purple Punch plant was particularly affected, with numerous black dots on the top buds, likely aphids. I had to remove two small buds 😞. To combat this, I brought all the plants inside for a thorough shower and removed any affected leaves. I then sprayed them with a light neem oil solution, taking care to avoid the buds to prevent affecting their taste. The Banana Purple Punch plant has been isolated to prevent further infestation. I'm open to any advice or suggestions on how to handle this situation more effectively. What else do you think I should do? Update 21.07 The heat has been intense lately, with temperatures soaring to around 31°C (88°F). Despite this, my garden is showing remarkable resilience. After battling thrips and aphids, my plants are bouncing back. The Tangie, Blue Dream, and Gorilla Cookies no longer display any signs of thrip damage on their leaves. It seems the light neem oil solution has done the trick. However, my Banana Purple Punch remains a bit of a mystery. This strain appears particularly sensitive to nutrients, even though all my plants receive the same care and feeding. While the other plants look lush and vibrant, the Banana Purple Punch shows some troubling symptoms. Some leaves exhibit early signs of nitrogen toxicity, while others curl upwards with no apparent nutrient burn at the tips. Additionally, the large fan leaves are yellowing. Despite these issues, the buds are frosty and thriving. I recently checked the trichomes and found that most are still clear, even on my Blue Dream, which already has a promising main bud. It's clear that patience will be rewarded with this beauty 😍

The trichomes are becoming more prominent, and there's a noticeable increase in resin production. The aromas are intensifying, making the garden a fragrant delight. The plants are showing clear signs of maturity, indicating that harvest time is approaching. Nutrient and Watering Adjustments To accelerate the ripening process and boost bud production, I'm using FinalPart by Terra Aquatica for Banana Purple Punch and Blue Dream. As from T.A recommended I use it alone with no other nutrients combined. I use it at full dosage but I hope I don't burn them in the end. No risk no fun. However, for Tangie and Gorilla Cookies, I have not changed the nutrient composition, as these plants will likely need another three /four weeks to fully mature. The watering schedule remains consistent, ensuring the plants are hydrated but not overwatered, which is crucial during this delicate phase. Pest Management and Plant Health To combat thrips, I've placed yellow and blue sticky traps around the plants. Fortunately, there have been no further signs of aphid infestation. The plants appear healthy and vigorous, showing no additional pest issues. Individual Plant Observations Blue Dream: Some pistils are starting to change color, and the main bud is becoming denser. The fan leaves are also transitioning from green to yellow, indicating that the plant is drawing nutrients from them. The trichomes are becoming more cloudy. Banana Purple Punch: The plant is experiencing slower growth, with minimal bud expansion. The pistils are changing color, and the buds are developing a beautiful purple hue. The fan leaves are turning yellow as the plant draws nitrogen from them. I’m hoping FinalPart will stimulate a final boost in bud production. Gorilla Cookies: Bud development is also progressing slowly. However, all the large leaves are still green, so I’ll hold off on FinalPart until at least next week. My goal here is to maximize yield. The resin production and aroma are intensifying daily. Tangie: Still in a growth phase, Tangie is a real eye-catcher. While the bud production is underway, the plant may need at least three, possibly even four more weeks to reach full maturity. The resin production and aroma are not yet as advanced as with the other plants, but Tangie looks very vibrant and healthy. Seeking Final Tips and Harvest Advice As we approach the final stages, any tips or advice on maximizing flavor, potency, or overall plant health would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking forward to gear up for the most exciting part of the grow cycle—harvest! Update 27.07: Today, I decided to switch my Gorilla Cookies plant to FinalPart as well. This should give her a boost in trichome production and aroma, and hopefully enhance the flavor too. Tangie is the only plant still on regular bloom nutrients, as she clearly needs another three, maybe even four weeks to fully ripen. Judging by her current growth, she seems poised to yield the most by far.

Typically, I left them outside continuously, but I moved them to the greenhouse during rainy spells. The constant exposure to morning dew seems to have triggered the mold issues. To minimize the risk of further bud rot, I've decided to move Tangie and Gorilla Cookies to my balcony. This change aims to provide a safer environment and reduce the risk of mold development. Tangie: Tangie is no longer producing new shoots, but the buds are swelling and getting bigger day by day. Almost all the trichomes are cloudy, so I will switch to Finalpart with the next feeding. Frost is forming nicely on the buds, and the plant gives off a delightful smell of fresh orange peels. The anticipation to try this strain is high. The planned harvest is in approximately one to one and a half weeks. Gorilla Cookies: Bud production for Gorilla Cookies has picked up speed significantly. The plant has a very unique bud structure, unlike the other ladies. The fan leaves are turning yellow, indicating it’s almost ready for harvest. The sugar leaves are nearly completely covered in resin, with most trichomes cloudy and a few already turning amber. The plant exudes a very skunky aroma and is almost as sticky as a fly trap. Nutrient and Watering Adjustments For both Tangie and Gorilla Cookies, I’m administering Finalpart to finish their development. To minimize the risk of bud rot, I’ll continue with Finalpart for one more week before starting a three-day flush period. Pest Management and Plant Health To combat pests like thrips, I have hung yellow and blue sticky traps. Fortunately, there have been no further aphid issues. Banana Purple Punch encountered the most challenges among the strains. It struggled with aphids, nitrogen toxicity, and thrips, which affected its overall health and bud development. This strain seemed particularly sensitive to high nutrient levels, which likely contributed to these issues. Despite these setbacks, I’m hopeful for a decent harvest. Each problem provided valuable lessons on pest management and nutrient balance, which will be beneficial for future grows. Update 09.08. Today, I brought the Banana Purple Punch into my apartment for a trim session. Since I didn’t trim her wet, this took a bit more effort compared to the Blue Dream harvest. The buds are quite airy and fluffy, but they have a fantastic aroma. The vibrant purple color of the buds is stunning, and I can't wait to give them a proper cure and eventually taste them—I’m confident they’ll be delicious. Unfortunately, I had to discard a few buds due to mold spots again. The rich purple hues of the buds make it challenging to distinguish between mold and the natural coloration, but once they're fully dry and cured, the smell should reveal any lingering issues. The dry weight was 24 gramm.

It's puzzling since they were never outside during rain and only had to contend with morning dew. Overall, I'm pleased with this grow and feel humble. The initial yield was 40 grams, but during my last inspection, I discovered more mold spots, this time buried deep within the buds. Unfortunately, all the larger colas were affected, forcing me to take the buds almost completely apart. In the end, I managed to salvage 21 grams of pure, healthy buds without any mildew. I also set aside 6 grams of “quarantine” buds, which I’ll dry separately. Sadly, I lost 13 grams to mildew—a tough blow, but one of the harsh realities of outdoor growing. It’s disheartening, especially since three other friends experienced similar losses this season. Honestly, I’m not sure what I could have done differently, aside from discarding the plant earlier. But even with these setbacks, if the cured buds taste as good as they smell, I’ll still consider this grow a success. The genetics from Fastbuds proved to be solid, and I recognize that the challenges I faced were largely due to environmental factors and my own decisions. This was a learning experience, and despite the issues, I'm happy with what I've achieved.

I'm aiming for all cloudy and very few amber trichomes to achieve an uplifting effect. Tangie will receive one more feeding with Finalpart before starting the flushing process. Gorilla Cookies: For Gorilla Cookies, I plan to feed her with Finalpart only one more time, and then it’s flushing time. The trichomes are mostly cloudy, with no amber trichomes yet. Unlike Tangie, Gorilla Cookies is covered in resin, with a strong skunky aroma that intensifies daily. Pest Management and Plant Health: The sticky traps have been effective in keeping thrips at bay, and there have been no new issues with aphids. While the plants are receiving less light on the balcony compared to the garden, this hasn’t significantly affected the ripening process. Having them on the balcony makes it much easier to monitor them daily, reducing the risk of mildew and significant losses. Final Thoughts: As harvest time approaches, I'm excited for the final results. Everything is prepared for harvest, and the weather will stay perfect for the last few days. I plan to give the plants as much time as needed to reach their full potential. Update 08.08 During my morning inspection, I found mildew on both plants. For the Gorilla Cookies, I had to remove some larger mold spots inside the buds. I carefully disassembled parts of the plant to ensure I didn’t miss any mold and ultimately decided to harvest it. Although I couldn’t let it fully ripen as planned, the trichomes were about 90% cloudy and 10% clear. That most be good enough. For Tangie, the compact and bushy growth led to some mold issues. I took the largest colas off and gave them a thorough inspection to make sure no mold was left behind. So far, I've harvested about 70% of the plant. Since most of the pistils on the remaining parts are still white, I'm giving them a bit more time to mature. I'll keep feeding with Finalpart at a slightly lower dosage and see if we can squeeze out a bit more potential from these final buds! Update 12.08: Final Countdown We’re almost there! Most of the trichomes are now cloudy, with a few amber ones starting to show up on the top buds—signaling that she’s nearly ready for harvest. Today, I gave her the final dose of Finalpart. I’m convinced that Finalpart has made a significant impact, boosting resin production and speeding up the ripening process. The buds are looking absolutely fantastic. Once the coco dries out, I’ll give her a thorough flush to eliminate any remaining minerals from the grow medium. I’m optimistic that this will further enhance the aroma and flavor, making the final product even more exceptional. Smoking_Joe_Frazier Harvest Date: 08.08 on Day 72 Overview: The Gorilla Cookies plant has been an impressive performer throughout the grow, showcasing a unique bud structure and an intense skunky aroma. However, the journey wasn’t without its challenges, particularly with mold appearing late in the flowering stage. Despite this, the final harvest was satisfying, with the buds exhibiting a rich resin coating and a strong, pungent smell. Yield and Bud Quality: The yield was alright but not spectacular with sticky buds that glistened with resin. Unfortunately, due to mold issues, I had to harvest earlier than planned, so the plant didn’t reach its full potential. However, the trichomes were mostly cloudy, with no amber ones, suggesting that the potency will still be high, leaning more towards an uplifting effect. What concerns me slightly is that the smaller buds have an excessive amount of leaves. While the leaves are fully covered in resin, I find that too many leaves affect the taste of my weed. As a result, I don't expect the final trimmed yield to be particularly impressive. The bud structure is somewhat reminiscent of Banana Purple Punch, which makes me wonder if I might have made a mistake in the growing process. I'd really appreciate any thoughts or advice you might have. Mold Issues: Mold was a significant concern in the final weeks. During my morning inspection, I discovered mildew within some of the larger buds, which required me to take drastic measures. I ended up dissecting the buds to remove any affected areas. This early harvest was a tough decision, but it was necessary to preserve the quality of the remaining plant material. Nonetheless, the trichome coverage was impressive, particularly on the sugar leaves, which were heavily coated. Aroma and Flavor: Gorilla Cookies exudes a powerful skunky aroma that became even more pronounced during the final stages of growth. I’m hopeful that these traits will carry over well into the curing process, enhancing the flavor of the final product. Drying and Trimming: For this harvest, I decided to take a slightly different approach. I opted to trim only the fan leaves while wet, leaving the smaller leaves to be trimmed after drying. This method should allow the buds to dry more slowly, which will help preserve their aroma. The drying process is taking place in my cellar, where the temperature is steady at about 19°C with no light exposure. This environment should contribute to a slow, even dry, ensuring the best possible flavor and potency. For curing, I’ll be using 2.6-liter mason jars, placing a Boveda 58% humidity pack in each jar. This should help ensure a slow and steady cure without risking further mold issues, allowing the buds to reach their full potential over time. Final Thoughts: Harvesting Gorilla Cookies has been a bittersweet experience. The plant showed great potential, but the onset of mold cut the journey short. Despite this setback, I’m optimistic about the quality of the final product. The early trichome state suggests that the effects will be more cerebral, which aligns with what I was aiming for. Looking Forward: This grow has been a learning experience, particularly in terms of environmental control to prevent mold. Moving forward, I’ll be even more vigilant about airflow and humidity, especially in the final weeks of flowering.

Smoking_Joe_Frazier Week 12: Tangie Finish Line in sight Today, I checked Tangie’s trichomes and noticed that 20% have already turned amber. This signals that it’s time for a flush. I’m using pH-balanced water (pH 6) with an EC of just 0.092 ms/cm due to my extremely soft water. My goal is to stress Tangie a bit in these final days to boost trichome production. I plan to remove some fan leaves two days before harvest and let the soil dry out slightly. She has about 4-5 more days to go. The aroma has become incredibly strong, with a vibrant, fruity scent dominating the air. It’s amazing how much more potent this smell is compared to the pre-harvested buds, which are now in the curing process and beginning to release that delightful orange and citrus fragrance. I’m eager to compare the flavor, potency, and high between the early and late harvests. The finish line is definitely in sight and I'm happy that I could let her ripen entirely to she what she is capable of 😍 Update 17.08 (Day 82) Today I decided to finally harvest the rest of this lovely Tangie. The trichomes showed a good mix of amber and cloudy trichomes, and I don't want to risk letting her overripen. I opted to cut only the fan leaves again to ensure a slow and consistent drying process. A really fell in love with this girl and I recommend her strongly. This strain truly shines when properly trained, producing an abundance of colas, each bursting with long, orange-scented buds. Her striking orange pistils give her a stunning appearance that perfectly matches her citrusy aroma. With her strong structure, I believe she could even handle topping, provided it’s done at the right stage. Challenges and Early Harvest: This summer's extreme humidity posed significant challenges, leading to mildew issues across my grow. Unfortunately, Tangie wasn't immune, and after discovering mold deep within some buds, I decided to harvest around 60% of the plant early. At the time, she wasn’t fully ripe, with nearly 20% of her trichomes still clear. However, I couldn't risk losing more to the mold and chose to harvest what I could. Final Harvest and Regrowth: After the initial harvest, I left the remaining buds on the plant to fully ripen, aiming for at least 20% amber trichomes. Tangie responded incredibly well, and in just 1.5 weeks, she produced another impressive round of buds. This time, the buds were even more resinous, sticky, and packed with a fruity, orange scent. For this final harvest, I only trimmed the fan leaves, allowing the buds to dry slowly and evenly. The pre-harvest buds have already been dried and are now curing in jars, where their flavors and aromas will continue to develop. First harvested buds are 45 gramm The second harvest is 21 gramm.
