This week so far has been a week of faffing.
First I noticed that the soil outside the damp core was very dry, so I decided now was the time to sort out the drip feeder to have a better spread throughout the pot. To this end I increased the number of drip prongs per plant to 3. This is setup in a "Load Balancer" style (so 1 pipe, to 3 pipes, to 9 pipes), rather than a manifold so, shouldn't increase the amount of water only the distribution.
Decided now was the time to give them their first feeding, I think they are out of seedling into veg now, all their leaves look like cannabis leaves now. Minor disaster when I chucked the flowering tablet in the water and had to chuck it for the veg tablet. Now I have done it, this feels like it was a bit too early, but and perhaps I could have stood to wait for couple of days, but it's done now, and no one looks worse for wear.
The air seems low on humidity and I am not sure what the cause of this is, are the plants soil too try? Misting the air helps, but only briefly.
After a bit of a hunt the humidifiers online seem a bit meh, I can't see many models that let you set the % you want without them being millions of quid. On the other hand this does give me an excuse to make my own cold water mister! I got a Amphibian terrerium plug which detects humidity, and plugged a ultrasonic mister for fountains. Looks a bit janky compared to everything else, maybe I will 3d print a better container for it.
After reviewing the ideal % it turns out that the mister wasn't needed at all. 🤦♀️ Oh well, it was a fun project.
I also am not really sure what I am doing with the water, but I overwatered them a bit the day I fed them and there was some water in the drip tray the next day, about half a cm on one of them and less on the others. Chucked that out, and the plants don't look unhealthy. I will get a soil water meter to make a more informed decision about the watering in the future I think.
The positive of overwatering is that the soil is generally looking a lot more healthy, and less super dry outside the core, I will pause the drip for a day or so to make sure we get a bit of air in there, and if it's dry-er I will restart it again. I think it as a good shout faffing with the water drip prong thingies.
I should probably try to move the circulation fan to above the mister, so all the plants get blown a bit, I think the one under the fan doesn't get so much.
I have no idea what I am doing
You can defiantly start now if you would like. I pull my plant over to start it growing horizontal to give the branches the most light and also even the canopy out.
I hope this helps.
Any idea what is causing this crisping on a few of my leaves? I am maybe seeing some slight curling/taco-ing on the upper leaves too?
I think the PH might be a bit high in my water too, it's 7. I've ordered a filter and some PH Dwon, the PPM was only 250. Related?
Heat and RH stress with strong feeds + maybe lights.
Tacoing leaves is normal for plants that are to hot with low RH and need more fresh air, This can also happen with light stress.
The spacing between your nodes is a bit compact not the worst so can also try lowering the lights intensity.
Good Luck!
So two of my plants have flowered, however a third seems somewhat shorter and doesn't seem to have Pistil. Is this plant not yet flowering, is it male, or is something else going in here. Looks healthy other than that.
Hello,
It looks like a late bloomer. I would check every day once but to me she just looks like she needs more time for the flip. Auto's do what they want when they want and not every seed is the same so she may grow different and later also maybe smell and taste different.
I would wait a little more just to be sure.
Hope this helps.
Lower leaves are turning yellow, these seem to be one that are hidden a bit from sight, so possibly not getting enough light, but it seems to be spreading, and one of them has fallen off. Is this some form of nutrient difficiency, or something simipler?
It looks like you are dealing with a nitrogen deficiency. Since nitrogen is mobile, the plant is sucking the nitrogen from the lower leaves and redistributing it to new growth. It also appears like you could be starting to deal with a calcium issue as well. I suggest using a CalMag at the manufactured recommended dose.
Increase your feeding by roughly 20%. Make sure you are watering enough to get roughly 10-20% run off out the bottom.
Hope this helps.
Fed them, and the spread seems to have stopped. I was also using filtered water, when I should have been using just tap water. I live somewhere where there is enough nutrients in the water if you don't filter them out cal/mag wise. Still, the biobizz seems to be making them very happy, I wish I had used it before.
