Auto Test German outdoor Summer #2

DaddyGreenThumb As mentioned in my first diary, I should get an outdoor weather station, we have like three seasons every day, good thing it's not hailing. We had a lot of rain the last week, I should collect some runoff to measure pH and EC, need to calibrate my probe. The plant is still protected by the hat, I am only removing it for the photos. Impatient as I am , I did "wait" one day and moved the pot out of the shade. Now the plant gets shade and indirect light for most of the day and about 4 (? should check) hour of high intense afternoon light I always stress myself because I don't have any control over the life cycle of auto plants. This one looks fine and strong. The plant hat is very useful, I have a side grow that I am not documenting and I had her placed in the same spot, but without the protective cover of the hat and the sun nearly murdered her. It took her nearly a month to recover from just a few days of innocent spring afternoon sun, with 26 degrees Celsius, yay for climate change Update 08.06. Overfertilization is the name of the game, that being said, I did dope the reservation with 4ml/l root juice and 2 ml/l bio-heaven

DaddyGreenThumb Well hello there, it's week two and not a lot happened, our lady seems to be thriving. Sorry for the lack of updates, but we are in the middle of our move and other stuff took priority, detailed Updates will resume shortly. Thank you for your patience. Will continue the heavy feeding 😉 Baby's still wearing it's hat. No longer, 14.06. did remove the hat. Update 15.06. I am thinking about topping/fiming her, not sure because of her being an autoflower, but now that is see a lot of diaries of autos being trained, I might change my mind, for now I am quite glad how good she's taking off. 17.06. Still going strong, at least in comparison to my other baby, I am looking forward to next week, this one is going to be good 😊👍 Hopefully I'll remember my experience, even though she did survive the heavy nutrients, I am quite positive she would have been a lot bigger if I would show some more restraint. 18.06. I don't think it's overfed, I think it's a calcium and magnesium deficiency, I did not buffer my coco, maybe because I am just ignorant, whatever, I did adjust the nutrients, added some Biobizz Calmag to the feeding and flushed the pot with 10l of the new solution after adjusting the pH with BioBizz pH down to about 5,6.

DaddyGreenThumb Good day everyone, 20.06. We are starting veg week 3, did add some support, it was good to add calmag. Did fim her, or at least I tried, had pre and after photos, but somehow ii did fckups again, they are lost, will retake an after picture as soon as I get back home again. 22.06. We are having a lot of rain these days,I will probably flush the pot and reservoir with 10 l of fresh fertilizer solution at the end of the week. I think I am using the wrong substrate for these wicking pots, coco can't hold nutrients so it's either washed away with the rain or it's building up salt in the top layers. If I am growing another auto in these pots I will probably go for a different substrate and some kind of long time fertilizer. Need to think about it, I don't want to use peat, it's just lignite with less steps and I don't really want to use animal remains based fertilizer, maybe I'll grow on horse droppings, need to think about it.

DaddyGreenThumb Welcome to veg week 4. We start with a height of 15 cm and a very hungry plant, that's why I did flush her with 10 l of fresh fertilizer solution today. 28.06. We are having lazor sun and thunderstorm tag teaming all day long, will need to fertilize a second time this week, just to counter the rain flushing all the good stuff away. 30.06. something is fckn up my grow condition, 64 °C at night wtf, growdiaries is a bit buggy day is 31 °C night 17 °C pH 5.5 EC ~1.7 mS/cm daylight is 17:45 anyways, something is definitely wrong. did add 5 l of fresh fertilizer solution 01.07. Ok, here's the deal, we are having rain every day, I'd be happy if this was an open ground soil grow, and my garden is happy as can be, but with coco it's a different story. All the precious nutrients are getting washed away, so I could either hand fertilize at least twice a day, but I am afraid this will lead to a lot of human errors. I think I will try some leaf spray, let's see what I can come up with. 01.07. evening I made a spray with 1 ml/l Plagroon Calmag Pro and 10 ml/l Primastar Universal fertilizer. I know I should be using a surfactant, but my polysorbate 80 is somewhere in a buried move box and something is better, than nothing. I did order some yucca root powder, but for now it's a no wetting agent spray. I already had the Primastar fertilizer and they advertised their product containing "precious humic acid and growth and vital substances", so I'd decided to give it a try. So I gave my baby a throughout spray down and I intend to repeat the treatment after every heavy rainfall. 02.07. the spray did not kill her, will continue 03.07. It seems the spray did vitalize her a lot

DaddyGreenThumb Good News everyone, our Baby starts flowering. Will adjust nutrients today, my yucca root powder did arrive, I made an extraction, "tea", will wait untill it's cooled down before doing fertilization. 04.07. evening Update Did redo my foliar spray, this time I uses one cap of the fertilizer in 1,5 l yucca root tea, with 5 ml/l Plagroon Calmag Pro. and again sprayed the whole.plant with it. In addition I did mix up 10 l of flowering fertilizer and flushed the pot and reservoir. 08.07. This ist looking very promising, i might habe messed up the early vegetation, but the plant ist stretching mighty fine since shes getting her daily foliar spray and she's entered early flower stadium. We are having a lot of sun today 🌞 the week will be rainy, but let's take the win for now. Btw she started to smell, even though it's only the beginning of flower, I am excited 😊 Evening update, did some LST work, snapped a branch, made a crutch, Baby's for some HST. Don't do work while in a hurry, can't teach an old dog new tricks, maybe I'll learn, eventually. 09.07. Good news so far, she did recover nicely and even the snapped branch stands up proudly. Did spray her again with my foliar mix, the next batch will be some cold brew yucca, I think the hot water extraction might have damages the surfactant, not sure why, but the spray is not able to properly wet the under side of the leafs on my avocado plants I am probably just paranoid, but hey, I am still learning, that's my first attempt at foliar feeding. In addition to the different extraction, I will be adding some Hydrogenperoxide, every source I read had some in it, mostly for sanitizing reasons. So far I am very pleased, like the doctor said this is a marvelous strain, best grow I ever had with an autoflower. 10.07. this was the first time I saw the reservoir actually drop since yesterday, the plant used about two liters of water yesterday alone. Now it's raining again, deluge washing away all our climate sinners, oh wait, only the poor lol. Jokes aside, automated watering might be the way to go, even with all the rain, just to keep the fertilizer concentration up.

DaddyGreenThumb Good news everyone, we reached week 6 and everything is going smoothly. I did add some trellis rings to keep her spread out and the automated will probably be set up tomorrow. 11.07. My pump is weak, but water is flowing. Did add some shelving to make sure the hydro halo is not siphoning the reservoir. At the moment I am watering for two minutes every 12 hours, will tune the interval over the next few days. I did stop the foliar feeding for now. 14.07. The watering interval is down to 90 seconds every 12 hours, I still need a stronger pump, it is working but the halo should splash out way more water and all the substrate should be rinsed, room for improvement. 15.07. not a lot happened today, the watering interval seems to be okay, will probably add some more support braces, just to have done something. 16.07. Did nothing, I am occupied with renovating our house.

DaddyGreenThumb Good news everyone, well actually good news, the automated watering system is working quite fine. Should check the pH of our stock. I am a bit worried about the placement of the pots, they could get more sun if I'd move them, but it was a struggle to get zip ties through my deck, no one wants a toppled pot, just because someone was too lazy anchor the system properly. On the other hand, the deck needy cleaning anyways, so I might as well move them. So much work ^^ 19.07. "automated" watering my arse, lol. now that the sun is shining all day again we need a lot more water than before, I think the device has a daylight sensor, I should look into that. Watering at night is a bit pointless, the pot still has its reservoir. 20.07. did refill the reservoir with fresh fertilizer, the pH did drift a bit, "organic" fertilizer 21.07. Baby is thirsty, my interval switch has a daytime only function, did switch to 2 minutes every four hours, daytime only. let's see how this goes. Every time I have a plant of a fairly decent size I am amazed of how much water they actually consume. 22.07. interval watering is wasteful, Daddy is not pleased, but hey our baby likes it. 24.07. tuned the watering interval, Daddy ist pleased, outdoor weather ist way less stable than a growbox, will continue to tweak the timing

DaddyGreenThumb 29.07. well hello there, this hast been quite the painful week so far, I am sorry for the irregular updates. Enough whining, time to do something, I will refill the tank today, the watering interval is looking quite fine, or at least I am happy with the amount of runoff, there are zero signs of recent nuteburn and the leafs are of a very deep and dark green color, looking very healthy and promising so far. Water tank got refilled, nutrients are updated. tdb things to do, memo sryle is there a good solution for timelapse gifs?

DaddyGreenThumb Well hello there, I finally got some time to write. The watering is working okish, organic fertilizer is foamy af, this is annoying, as my bubbler did make a mess last week. A hose to clean them all, the foam did dry as a unpleasant black residue, need to reiterate the system if I want to use it indoors. Did add some predatory mites, as precaution. The HST wounds did heal pretty well, what doesn't kill you makes your stronger 💪 Not that HST would be a good idea with autoflowers, but things happened, mistakes have been made and still this is the best grow I ever had with an autoflower. Will need to refill the tank, the automated watering system is doing mighty fine. That being said, I should really work out how much water I am actually using, but hey details. DaddyGreenThumb Well hello there, sorry for the late update, life is quite taxing right now. Anyways, enough whining for the moment, I was wondering how much longer the flowers will need for ripening. I think we might be able to harvest after week 12, 13 at least, it is difficult to get good photos of the trichomes, there are already a few amber ones mixed in, I am aiming for harvesting at between 10 and 30 percent of amber trichomes, or at the end of the natural life cycle, whatever comes first. However, I will probably defoliate her in week 12, flushing coco takes zero effort, imo it's fine to just flush one or two days before harvest, if using coco alone, as this stuff does not hold any nutrients. DaddyGreenThumb Hyped, the trichromes are still getting milky, but the leafs taking on autumn colours is a good sign. Saves me the need to defoliate, I see this as the normal self cannibalization at the end of an annual plats life. I'd say two weeks, but hey, we will see. The automated watering works like a charm, will make new fertilizer solution at the start of the next week, like tomorrow. So long, stay safe :)

DaddyGreenThumb Hello everyone, we are finally entering the final stages of our plant. There will be rain for this night and tomorrow, let's see what Sunday brings. The trichromes are still not there and I would like to wait a bit longer, but if weather changes and finally gets rainy I might be in a lot of trouble. No one wants rotten buds, outdoor grows have some challenges. Stay safe, I'll keep you updated. 31.08. rainfall at night was joke, we are still safe and sound, let's see what the day brings. 01.09. Again the rain was a joke, started to remove a few of the most wilted leafs from inside of the plant, nothing big, for now. I did finde some pistils that are still white on that occasion. Evening update: Did remove the yellowing leafs, the plant is incredible STICKY it took me 4 trys to remove the resin from my fingers using soaps, two times hand was soap , one time dishwasher soup and once with washing detergent. Next time I'll probably wear gloves, I don't want to have to wash my fingers with IPA.
