Germination

The cherry pie from a no name breeder (afaik) performed great. Germination came quickly, and acher planting it in a jiffy pellet it threw off the seed‘s husk like a boss. As a trophy it’s carrying a part of the inner seed layer like a hat on one of the two seed leaves. After some days I moved it to a small pot (around 0.3 liters in volume) The baby plant showed beautiful colors of dark purple and green before the colors faded out. The Zamnesia Sticky Beast on the other hand was very slow to open up. I‘m still not sure if it will make it into a proper plant stage. Right now it‘s lurking around as milky greenish lump in a jiffy pellet, showing at least some signs of slow development. Update: The Sticky Beast was born dead. The little baby plant was damaged somehow, and it startet growing a stem without the seed leaves. I then quickly brought another seed to germination: Amnesia Cookies from monkey-seeds.de. No problems there so far.

Both babies are doing fine. Their pots got invaded by pesky fungus gnats. I introduced them to predatory worms. Soon there won‘t be any gnats anymore.

Sweet childhood days. The Amnesia Coolie is overshooting in lenght, therefore I placed a wire ring to give support when needed. Seems like it isn‘t really needed. But I‘ll bury the stem a bit when re-potting. Cherry Pie is behaving and not overshooting. Added some light concentration of Madame Grow Caribbean Algae to the water. Both babies look healthy, alive and kicking. Will move them to their final 10l pots soon.

Both babies doing well. The amnesia cookie is developing a bit stronger than the cherry pie. I finally moved both to their final 10l pots. Added clay balls to the bottom and top of the soil for drainage and protection. I was able to check the roots during the move. AC‘s roots seem far more developed than CP‘s. Additionally I damaged CP‘s root when moving it out of its previous pot. I very much hope that she will recover from that and become even stronger. Applied some early LST by bending the stems a bit away from the sun. I want to train these automatics early, because I heared about issues that might occur if the automatics don‘t develop strong stems and branches early in their life.

The Amnesia Cookies grows like a champ while the Cherry Pie stays a bit behind. AC even overtook the lead in node growth: 6th node is stsrtinf to grow out, while CP is still only showing the 5th. Waiting for the perfect moment for topping cuts. Trying some very light LST with both, in order to strengthen the main stem.

Amnesia Cookies is growing much faster (30cm) compared to the Cherry Pie (18cm). I topped both plants earlier this week, and both survived it without any problems. The AC’s stem structure seemed a bit more limp, so I decided to start early with heavier LST treatment. In the pictures you can see the LST clips in the top part of the plant. I‘m trying bend the two top shoots towards a T-shape. Also, the weight of the clips trains the main stem to become more sturdy. CP‘s LST treatment is a bit more basic: I‘m just bending the main stem a bit. AC is showing some auto-typical pre-blossoms (see pic #5). After overfeeding my photo Critical (see my other report), I also reduced fertilizer to zero for the two auto plants.

AC is now at about 45cm heigth, CP at 25cm. AC already in blooming mode (see pic #3), while CP stays a little bit behind. Both plants are not too thirsty, which i find a bit strange in this summer‘s heat. But to each their own… I don‘t want to drown them.

Amnesia Cookie is fun to watch, while Cherry Pie stays behind as usual. AC is forming nice buds already, and CP is showing just a few smaller buds. I pray CP will catch up, because I absolutely love the smell of it. AC’s smells less nice to me. It reminds me of a strong weed that pressed me into my couch a while ago :D Other than that: the plants are not thirsty at all and I add very little fertilizer.

Both plants are in mid of flowering. The buds are not too big. I‘m happy if i can get around 10g of dried and cured weed per plant. AC is a bit ahead, trichomes start becoming milky. No amber color yet. As soon as i find amber colored trichomes, I’ll declare harvest time. Alas, I cannot take pictures through the microscope to post them here.

I partially harvested the Amnesia Cookies. On some upper buds I saw the majority of trichomes getting cloudy and a few ones showing amber colored spots. The lower buds of the AC are still ripening. I love the smell of the AC now. Cherry Pie is a bit behind, as usual. But also there, harvesting season is near.

This was a sturdy plant. The pot falling from a chair, HST, LST. Took everything like a champ, but: Lesson learned from growing Autos: no HST! Like topping off the plant. It takes too long for recovery in the short growing phase. LST showed good results, though. I watched the trichomes closely for the last few summer days. Most were cloudy, some still transparent and some amber. I estimate the wet cuttings to be about 20g. Will be around 5g dried and cured weed in the end. I will give an update here, once I‘ve tested it in a few weeks.

AC was a bit faster overall, compared to the CP. I wish I hadn‘t topped off the plant. The harvest would have brought bigger buds without it, I recon. Wet weight is a rough estimate. First smoke test of the very first small bud that I took from the top of the plant, dried and cured it: lovely sweet’n’fruity smell, pleasant taste, smooth cerebral head high. I hope the later, more mature buds are at least like this, if not better. Will update here, once everything is well cured.
