Other than having to remove the shell, the only other real issue was having to re-wire the dimmer; the dimmer, which came connected to the power plug of the driver, needs to be constantly powered in order to work with the timer, so I had to disconnect its power from the driver and wire in its own plug. Temperatures were running 101° at 24” and 100% power with the dimmer removed (I removed it at first to see how hot it would get). With temps running that high at 100%, I’m worried about temps when it moves into the other tent (3x3x5), but the stronger charcoal exhaust fan should take care of most of it. Germinated from seed in peet plug for 5 days, then put the whole plug into a solo cup. 18/6, QB 240 at 50% from 18” in a 2x2x4 veg tent, vented on bottom with a 4” desk fan exhaust out top. Currently under a 2 liter Dr Pepper dome at 84° and 77% humidity. Will do this for another week, then pull the dome while slowly increasing light output.

This week was much more normal. No surprises. I removed the dome at the beginning of the week and saw a lot of growth in breadth, but nothing measurable in height (leaves got bigger, plant didn’t grow any taller). The second set of true leaves is about 1/4” long. I’ve only watered once, with about a quarter cup or so from the tap. My only real concerns are the humidity. I’m in a short tent (2x2x4) because I can’t set up the larger one due to the holidays (it would be in the extra room, but it’ll be used). Temps are about where they stay in this tent (84°), having used it on previous grows. But my new lights are turned to 50% and my humidity WITH a humidifier is around 40% if I’m lucky. I have a lower vent open, as well as a 4” fan blowing through a 4’ duct into the tent. Hopefully I won’t run into any major issues before Jan 8 when the room becomes available once again. Speaking of lights, I think I’ll be increasing to 75% power this weekend. If it’s it becomes an issue, I’ll raise it until the temp is under better control. OH! I almost forgot: after lightly rubbing the keaves, my finger tips smelled like a light cannabis, kinda lemony. I was surprised to smell anything this early on. UPDATE: posted some pictures showing the incredible amount of growth in 2 days. Since then, lights are @75%, 18”; water is pHd @ 6.5; foliar spray with pHd water containing 2% Epsom salts. Temps are high (85°), rh is low (45%), plant is green and growing.

I transplanted her into the final pot (3.5 gal) after noticing roots coming out of the smaller pot. Meant to get pictures, but the high quantity of roots was surprising when repotting. Before that, she had begun to respond negatively to my feeding schedule by showing signs of over feeding. It began as a barely noticeable smudge on a leaf, but was brown and thinning the following day. Feeding schedule is going back to every other watering. Temps are still higher than I’d like (88-90°F) at peak, and lower than I’d like at minimum (66-77°). But it’s only for another week or two.

Today is Christmas, and it’s also moving day for the little lady! We moved her from the 2x2x4 tent and into the 3x3x5 tent, which will make a world of difference. 4 fans, a charcoal exhaust, and more space mean better temperature control. Growth this week was just insane!! Unsure if it was being moved into the bigger pot last week or what, but she doubled in height and breadth this week. Other curiosities include rampant undergrowth development. I’ve never seen so much this early on, but you can see from the photos that secondary shoots are maturing quickly. Anyway, a short update this week. I’m hoping she hits autopilot this week and I just need to keep her watered. Tomorrow I’ll be getting pvc and build the scrog. Maybe I’ll take pictures this time around, although I can’t imagine it’s that interesting to most. Alright. Happy Holidays. Peace! Ninja edit: I went ahead and fimmed her this afternoon, at the third node. Possibly a bit early, but growth has been insane lately.

Lots done this week. First thing, I trimmed the largest leaves in order to get more light to the rest of the plant. The plant is still growing a lot centrally, and is acting a lot like an auto (it’s from seed). If you look at the photos, you can see how all of the new growth is crowding the middle part of the plant. As a result, I think this plant will respond extremely well to scrogging. Second, I fimmed the main stalk at the 3rd node; with all of the side growth going on that I talked about in the previous paragraph, I should see a considerable increase in growth once the plant recovers. I expect to fim at least once more across the entire plant. Third, I built my scrog netting. It was the same process as before; cut 1/2” pvc to 2.5 ft long, attach corners, drill holes at 2” marks. Thread first side with twine, then weave second side to create 2” openings. Adjust openings by hand to proper size. Netting is hung about 4” above the canopy. Hopefully the new growth will hit the netting in a week or two. Temps and humidity have leveled out as expected after moving into the larger tent. I’m seeing lots of 77°F and 80°F temps, which is a lot better than what I had been seeing in the smaller tent. Humidity is being managed by adjusting the flow of exhaust from the charcoal filter with a homemade baffle. I might have overwatered early in the week. As a result, I’m going to wait until it starts to droop before next watering. And I also expect to increase nutrients to 2 tsp/ gal. Update: I did some figuring and realized that I’ve been updating about every 5 days, which means I’m actually on growth day 26 (almost week 4).

I figured out that I’m actually at the end of week 4, rather than week 7, so I’m going to have the next two updates as part of this week until I get my weeks straight. My main concerns this week were getting more light into the dense central part of the plant. As a result, I did some mild pruning of the larger leaves. I also pinned down the lower branches to open it up more. If you compare the pictures to the ones from last week, you should see a notable improvement. I’m keeping the lower branches for now in case I want to pull some clones (I’ve never cloned before). Watering is about every three days, which still seems like too much because of the amount of water left behind (maybe a pint of runoff from a gallon of water). UPDATE: 1/10 New pics to come. Lots of good things happening this week: The top has hit the scrog, so it’s time to start keeping an eye on growth patterns and prepare for weaving branches. This is a good milestone to hit. The most important improvement this week has been getting temps under control. Come to find out, my air filter was clogged so the heat wasn’t dissipating as expected. I pulled the prefilter and threw it in the washing machine with some towels. While that was happening, I looked up how to clean the charcoal filter and followed instructions for cleaning and reactivating the charcoal using the oven. The whole process took an hour or so before I was able to get it all put back together. Temps are FINALLY in the upper 70s through most of the day, and I’d swear the plant has responded by pushing out a growth spurt during the week. I also did some mild trimming to open the plant up some more as it thrives again. Overall, the plant is healthy and should get even healthier with the lower temps.

Technically, this is the beginning of week 6. Sprouting was on December 3, and a week later would start the first week, so December 10 is what I’m counting as DAY 1. Lots of dense growth over the last week or two. With the Christmas holiday, I pretty much only did a daily peek in, not spending much time in front of the plant. So this morning I pulled it out from under the scrog and did a half hour trim. I usually do a pretty intense first trim, and this one wasn’t any different. I figure I pulled about 60% of growth—I know that’s about twice as much as recommended, but this is my rodeo. She had a full gallon of pHd water (6.6) with a teaspoon of calmag and 3 teaspoons of Grow.
