bundabl For this grow I'll be using Coast of Maine soil and amendments most likely only. I started this in a small cup with Sprout Island and Stonington blend 3/1 respectively.
I have read it could be good to start autos in their final soil and final pots. This is an amended version of that I guess. I have read that autos will want to flower when the Taproot hits the bottom on the pot. I will transplant this before that into Stonington blend soil amended with COM compost, and Stonington plant food, and some more perlite.I will also use some mycorrhizal amendment as well as give a nice watering with Real Growers Recharge compost teas here and there.

bundabl Start of week 2, looking good minus what I believe is slight light burn, I raised the light up a bit and am considering giving it 6 on 2 off. On day 4, I mixed up Coast of Maine Stonington Blend soil/ Quoddy lobster compost/perlite/mycorrhizals. I made a slightly stronger nutrient layer for the bottom few inches, and blended the top of that in with the more regular strength blend. I seeded some red clover on half (pest control apparently) and white clover on the other half. I then topped with Quoddy and perlite. I'm hoping that this doesn't shoot the root straight down like ive heard papaya likes to do, but if it does, I packed the heavier nutrient layer mostly out to the sides. Just an experiment to see how hands off I can be with the nutrients for this plant, though I may top dress fishbone meal at some point, and I definitely do a tea every 3/4th watering. My first auto, so if anyone has any nuggets of wisdom to share, let's hear it!
7/20 - read that autos like more light much faster I think I have nute burn not light burn, it's in the tent with the photos now for the time being. Debating on building a second setup as I only have one 4x4 tent. I could just harden off the photos and put them outside though, idk yet. Anyway, not ideal but it's in the tent on 12/12 as I just flipped the photos to flower the other day. Hoping I can't get it back under 18/6 at least soon, but the inlaws are in for a weeding and we haven't crossed that bridge with them yet. Hopefully they smell it and ask because it'll kind of bring it up and then maybe my Gardner father in law would fall in love with the plant. He keeps a beautiful garden every year. Anyway, I'm rambling - see what happens.
It doesnt matter. Its about the DLI, i dont know how there can be so much nonsense about a topic thats so clear. No wonder we deal with more myths than facts in cannabis growing. Pathetic.
You can give that DLI in what so ever hours, but autoflowers can slightly take more light than photos probably thats were the 18 hour shit comes from. Also the nightcycle is as important as the day. They need to sleep and 12 hours are better than 6, if you have the power to give them the DLI in 12 hours.
I give mine 16hours atm, but thats due to my LEDs, dont have more power. preferably i would sink down to 14hours light a day.
All this rumors make me sick, since even I still fall for them.
Hi growmie, during my first grow I was growing in the same tent an auto and a photoperiod lady. So my Orion had a second part of her life 12/12 and both did pretty good. They produced more than my current autos under 18/6 for some reason.

bundabl Almost the end of week 4 as I'm writing this, starting to see pre flowers. It's been on its own light, but the same schedule as the tent. Getting about 35 dli. Recovered from the topping pretty fast and then started bushing up.
Thanks for the comments y'all, I'll post an update here soon. She's been doing just fine in my tent with my light on on 100 in my early flower tent. Actually topped it yesterday, against most of the advice I've seen on the internet. Mostly I'm experimenting with this one, I don't expect sUpER mASsIVE yields, just messing around to see what autos can do. Thought being, ruderalis in Alaska for example gets strange hours of light - and it's my only tent anyway haha. I did pick up another 100w light, so I'll set that up close to it today since I think it can handle it. I think my neighbor has a dli meter, I'll borrow it. Cheers!
