Good day. First grow with a Dwarf Low Flyer Auto. Seed from Q.C.S. Started with a 12 hr soak in room temp water. Moved to paper towel on a plate covered with a plastic dome, and kept in dark cupboard on top of a humidifier to keep warm. The bean cracked and stretched good. Planted in a 3 Gal. pot. using PROMIX soil with added perlite and vermiculite , about a half inch down, and lightly covered then watered. Starting with two CFL bulbs on a Y hanging above, Fan on for constant circulation. Lights on 24hrs/day.

Strong growth this week. Fourth nod pushing out. Moved under big lights at end of week. Watering only when the pot gets light. Trying to stay on the dry side so as not to over water too much.

Started with some LST this week. I initially just pegged the top of the plant over. Faster growth now, Everything is looking good from what i can see. Continued to tuck leaves and LST daily. Still watering by the lift pot method. Just been watering using tap water run through a brita filter then using PH down to level out.

How much should you Defoliate an auto flowing strain? and when? Will defoliation cause Stunting in growth or Quality?

Defoliating an Auto-flowering strain is vastly different from a photo period mainly because the plant control when it goes into flowering and stunting it during this process can lead to decreased final product. Ideally if you defoliate then its best done before flowering, because the first 3 weeks of flowering are so important. I recommend tucking the larger fan leaves away and under the younger growth as much as possible to increase light penetration without sacrificing stress to the plant. Defoliation is obviously possible but only recommended right before flowering and after the stretching phase of flower on the leaves you are unable to tuck easily. My general rules is, if I can tuck it then I will and most defoliation is in the form of lollypopping for thicker bud structure. I hope this helps with your question 😎

This week went awesome i think. Took off all forms of LST when i started seeing some pistils scattered throughout . I have also started adding my nutrients at 1/4 strength from whats suggested. Seen some great growth in the last few days.😃

Great growth over the past week. She's accepting the nutrients happily. I havent noticed any real problems. I have not done any defoliation, just continuing to tuck leaves where I can.

Well day 54 since put in Water to soak. Looking great from my eyes. Lots of bud sites. Did do some small defoliation near the bottom. Looking like a little nuit burn.

Still going good. So many pistils. Some of the lower bigger fan leaves have started turning a little yellow. But have read it's to be expected.

This week I feed once with 1/4 nutrients same as before, then just ph'd water for the last 3 waters. Still getting more yellow in the fan leaves. Defoliatied a bunch of lower fan leaves, she didn't seem to mind it. Still not sure if I should go up or down with the nutrients. Hoping she greens up a bit more again. Still, looking like the buds are starting to form.

This week I just kept her on Ph'd water. I also flushed her with 8 litres of ph'd water 3 days ago. I have also been doing some light defoliation and lst to open up the centre as she is really bushy. Buds still forming, seems slow and not very bulky with a fair amount of trichromes starting to show.

This week I feed 2 times with 50% nuits. The buds have bulked up a bit more. They are not very dense. A lot of the pistils have changed to orange/ brown. The trichromes I have found are mostly cloudy with some amber starting to show. Not sure how much longer I should let her go, but will be planning on starting the flush within the next week, I am thinking anyway.

Happy Harvest Day!

Was a first try...Went back over notes and not really had to see where i messed up with this girl. 2 weeks plus a bit straight ph'd water, starved the poor girl. Plus i should have done some major defoliation for this girl can get extremely bushy for a dwarf. But beginners must learn things the hard way sometimes, lol. Nothing wrong with the genetics was all growers faults, But learning as i go, The Tangie Matic by Fast buds that I got growing is doing excellent, even with all the lst and defoliation i have tried on her.

Well I have made a few mistakes while growing her, hoping that i have learned a bit for my next grows. Actually got more off her than i had thought i was going to Though. The buds are thin, loose, and very hairy. Tastes and smells of citrus to me. It's a mild high but relaxing. The coconut oil i made from the trim turned out good, my mother uses it at night for sleep. Well that's all for this grow, hoping to have better luck on the next grows. I appreciate all the comments and likes Given. Grow Easy!👋

Thank you all for the info and comments. I have not given any nutrients as of yet, the soil i'm using says it has a 3 month supply in it already. I will be using nutrients from Innovating Plant products their H.O.G 3 part system, as needed.

Think its too early for your leaves to turn yellow ... can it be you got a little nute burn? Do you give it nutes every watering? I have the same problem ... sometimes over enthousiastic ... I try to give mine nutes every other watering now 😉
MGrow
MGrowcommented6 years ago
@zaffieken, I thought it could be nutrient burn or possibly a deficiency. I have been running my nutrients at 1/4 of recommended strength...and only feed every other watering from the start of flower. But she has gotten a lot bigger than I had initially expected. So I'm not sure which way to go.
