Seed took 4 days to germinate in the grow medium and final pot. The soil was slowly (sprayed) pre watered to 10% of the soil medium. This meant that the soil was evenly moist but not water logged. The seed was placed 15-20mm in the soil. The soil was then pinched over and lightly thumbed down. Not to compact the soil just to bed the seed in, so that it was fully in contact with the soil. This way when the seedling reaches up and out of the soil it has its seed casing removed naturally.
My grow:
The 20 litre's of grow medium is made up of 1/3 coco coir, 1/3 vermicompost and 1/3 horticultural grit. It is held in a 5 gallon fabric pot raised above a saucer on a pot riser. A hay mulch has been applied to the top of the soil. Two AC Infinity usb fans are currently set to low and point directly at the pot, providing a breeze 24/7. I am trying to provide an evenly moist and aerated grow medium for the roots.
An inline fan runs 24/7 pulling air through a carbon filter at the very top of the tent. The fan is currently set to low. I am trying to provide a good rate of air exchange. The tent provides a 40cmx40cmx160cm grow environment. This sits snug in a 60cmx120cmx190cm cupboard.
The light source is 40cm above the seedling and has provided light ranging from 10DLI rising to 15DLI.
Not much to report this week. No water/nutrients have been applied to the grow medium this week, the grow medium is moist enough. The seedling is just starting to show its 2nd set of true leaves and seems well. FB seeds say 8-9 weeks for the Guava auto and their timings have been accurate in my experience. So…yeah… I’m looking forward to what this grow will teach and yield me. Follow along growmie’s👍
