24 hrs in a dechlorinated glass of water, then direct into substrate. Substrate presoaked with nutrients listed. This is an attempt at a CANNABONSAI for the Mephisto x Manny's Bonsai grow off.
Transplanted 5-6 days ago, she has righted herself and is steadily putting out new growth. I water 500ml morning and night, feeding Nectar for the Gods only once a week, innoculating with SLF and Photosynthesis Plus once a week and plain watering the rest of the time.
Defoliated 1st node completely, and a few other lower leaves that were yellowing and too bunched up. Completed 1st C-bend with a soft tie. Keeping towel over the roots to keep them moist, but remove it when watering. Water 250 ml 4 times daily; 7am, 1pm, 6pm, and 10pm. Water with nutrients morning feed only once a week, then plain water the next day, then the next morning with SLF-100 and Photosynthesis plus.
Defoliating a few leaves almost every day, and using pipe cleaners and soft garden ties to LST branches and stem. Top dressed with one-shot and grean Bycicle Ocean Bounty flower mix. Using Nectar for the Gods Kraken as a foliar, and even using a kids water color brush to brush the Kraken water into the branches. The chitin should help to stiffen the branches and stem so they will hold shape without ties. Weened off of 250ml watering 4 times daily; water 750ml once daily, feed once a week and microbes once a week.
Had some issues with heat and then fans. Should be good now. Defoliated and did a modified lollipop, I'm calling it corndogging. But trimmed it up, while still leaving a
Watering 500ml every other day; feed, water, microbes, water. All shaping is now finished and in place. Will top dress with Nectar's One-Shot and Grean Bycicle Ocean Bounty flower mix, as well as will expose the roots more aggressively and give mycorrhizae
La Sonrisa de Moctezuma: Cannabonsai final entry
Hey y'all, this was a friggin blast and a half!!! This was my 2nd autoflower run, 1st with Mephisto, and like most in the comp my first attempt at bonsai. I chose Marley's Grin as my strain, used a Spider Farmer SF1000 in a 2'x2.5'x4' cubby, no tent. I used about a gallon of grow medium, a little less after revealing the root stretch, composed of 40% Mother Earth groundswell, 20% perlite, 20% vermiculite, and 20% HP Promix. I chose a simple plain terracotta pot as a tribute to the Southwest, and I went with a pre Columbian America's motif with the ancient Aztec totem for the root stretch, and Lord Piqual's sarcophagus lid. I propped the lid with toothpicks and used lego men and little bones from a dinosaur kit to give it a proper feel. I hand painted the pot with Mephisto themed imagery; Piggletta and Marley flank either side of the Illuminauto pyramid, which I changed to a step pyramid to reflect the region, and then I did a local adaptation of Mt Mephisto which I merged with the mountain located on the Texas/New Mexico/Mexico border Mt Cristo Rey which I call Mount Mephisto Rey!!!
Ok, back to the plant. It is at day 81 today. I had issues almost immediately with the root stretch prep, but luckily that was overcome with Mephisto's vigorous genetics! After that it was ooth sailing, until it started stretching beyond what I had planned and trained for. Then the heat just kept beating down, and so I turned up the fans to help with the heat. This lead to wind burn! I was able to get a couple indirectly to work it adequately enough to allow the flowers to plump up nice enough. I bent down some of the overstretched arms to attempt to create a windswept look. The root stretch is at about 6.5"; the statue was about 8" total so I buried a couple of inches. Whew! Here we go!
