Ayo what's good? I learned alot from last year's outdoor grow, and I want to do another one :D.
To put it briefly, last year I grew a Blue Dream and Fire Purps outside in my 3x3 beds outside. Deciding I wanted to grow monsters, they were easily like 10+ feet tall which was a huge mistake. Bad weather beat her up real bad and budrot destroyed most of it. Managed to get some usable buds which was nice, but the effort was not worth it at all.
We are going to do it again this year obviously, but hopefully I've learned enough from the last one to do a good job this time around.
This year I'll be growing plants from HSC. Got a Blueberry Muffin and Bigfoot Glue. Heard really good things about HSC and never tried their stuff besides a Hella Jelly of which I'm currently growing inside.
To start off, I pretty much planted cover crop early in the season before chopping it down and mulching over it with some reclaimed and reamended soil. Fast forward about a month and in our Bigfoot Glue goes.
Its important to note that this year, I did not grow the plant for like 5-6 weeks inside a tent before transplanting outside. I grew her in the tent for about 6 days before put her in the bed around the second week of June. I want large plants, but not absolute monsters. I figure that it starts flowering mid august so I've got about 10 weeks worth of veg.
Topped her and she's doing just fine. She definitely isn't as heat resistant as the Blueberry Muffin. Quite common to see her leaves cup/curl up in the direct sunlight. Despite this, she grows.
Thought I would just post the progress all in one week.
She's obviously entered flower and is currently in mid flower. Not nearly as big or chunky as the Blueberry Muffin. Her buds are thin, and her sugar leaves are chunky. Honestly looks like a strange sativa pheno. She's also taking much longer to finish flowering than the Blueberry muffin.
Its hard to describe the smell. Heavy pine mixed with sweet and maybe floral notes? I'll have a better idea in a few more weeks.
Unfortunately we have caterpillars. They've been annihilating my Blueberry Muffin, but the Bigfoot Glue is much less effected.
Hopefully we make it until harvest. I say mid october for her.
Getting close to harvest. Maybe another 2 weeks tops. Seems like she hasn't been nearly as affected as the Blueberry Muffin by the caterpillars so I'm hopeful for a better harvest.
Below average density nugs but above average frost. A bit loose and larfy. Smells like a minty pine mixed with a floral perfume. Tastes somewhat similar to how it smells and kind of reminds me of wedding cake. Above average aroma strength, especially when smoked.
Grew pretty strangely. Think I got a weird phenotype. Took slightly longer to finish flowering and the structure looked like a sativa. Long branches with foxtaily loose buds. Definitely more resistant to caterpillars than the blueberry muffin. Almost no mold.
Definitely an indica dominant effect, although it doesn't put me out. Gives a potent stone. Expect a bit of forgetfulness and munchies.
She's finally coming down. Thank god she didn't have much caterpillar or mold damage. Seemed way more resistant. Her buds are not very dense, but she is very, very frosty. The smell is pretty out of this world as well.
Budwashed using the normal method. Dried to perfection before going into a grove bag. Would probably grow again, although maybe inside next time.
