Realized they didn't get enough light after a few days and put them under one LED rated 30W.
Always check for power consumption if you're buying cheap! The first one was only about 5W and rated at 25W.
The new one was rated at 30W and only put out 18W.
After putting it under the new LED they continued stretching. I measured power consumption and it only used 18W.
Added another one and they stopped stretching immediately.
They did fall over, though and I had to support them with sticks.
Did add H2O2 3% to the surface in order to eliminate Sciaridae. No watering needed.
Roots grew nicely but didn't take a picture.
After prepping and desinfecting with Ozone, I transplanted the little guys into the final 15l Autopots.
Using the only watering technique by Bio Tabs.
Put in the tablets (2 each). added 5g of Mycotrex to the soil in the hole and after transplant, drenched the pots in Bactrex and Orgatrex solution. Orgatrex is like molasses and provides food for Bactrex bacteria.
Set the light to 50% (about 380 µmol/s/m²)
After 2 days, the stems were able to fully support the plants again with a light breeze.
After 3 days, Quick Ones show signs of malnutrition. I checked pH levels which were about 5.9 which is good for Autopot (I think).
I applied boom boom spray to them and a tiny amount of calmag per plant. Quick Ones seem to recover now, but will watch out for them.
Watermelon is growing nicely and loved the boom boom spray.
Turned on the Airpot pump to aerate the soil after 2 weeks in the final pot
Recovered beautifully from pruning. Not much to do right now except turning the LED up.
This week I didn't do much. I went away for 5 days and just left the system running.
One of each Watermelon and Quick One started growing taller than the others. I then tilted the light towards the smaller plants in the front.
Plants consumed about 50l from the tank. But I usually don't measure water consumption.
Needed to get rid of leaves again. Started adding supplementary light to the smaller ones to counter less intense light as they are 30cm smaller
I then added under canopy LED lighting (70W total). Will direct the light more evenly once the smaller have shown whether they will or won't catch up in height.
Took off the small stems and buds from all plants at the bottom to allow good light penetration.
Also added better fans - now oscillating and able to penetrate through thicker growth than the old 120mm-PC-Fans which I still use for upper circulation
All exceot small watermelon are well into flowering.
Shorter plants love the under canopy lighting and are slowly catching up to the tall ones.
Developing nicely.
End of week you can see the tall ones getting more yellow. Unfortunately I was too focused on Calmag and under canopy lighting and didn't realize it was light burn.
Update for week 8 will follow shortly
Severe light burn on the taller ones. Short Quick One showing signs of calmag deficiency, too. Started supplement for the shorter ones which look really healthy.
Cut some under developed buds from the lower third.
Let's see how they recover... Small ones looking great!
Stopped adding Calmag. Steady removal of dead and burnt leaves
Going nicely. Small ones start getting thicker buds which promises good yields.
Strong smell. Big Quick One smelling of ammonia and garlic lol
Harvested tall Watermelons top cola to reduce light stress and prevent further light burn.
By the end of the week it was harvest time for the two big ones
Harvested the tall ones. Quick One had nice buds. Watermelon rather small buds.
Small ones were ready then harvest a week later - next post will be harvest
Nice turnout. Look at those roots!
Great buds on the later one that had lots of under canopy lighting.
Tall one yielded 54g, later one 72g.
Wished them to grow more uniform. Very easy to handle and nice smell after curing at 58%"RH
Nice yield of 58g for the tall one with lots of small buds and 78g for the shorter later one.
Could also grow more uniform. Very lucky that Quick One and Watermelon can grow simultaneously
@Biotabs, hi! Yes, but needed to catch up with the report. Just Ed added the rest of the weeks.
Biotabs combined with Autopots really are something, especially with air domes. Have a look at the roots!
If you have specific questions, please let me know :-)
OMG the girls are struggeling big times,
from start there was an imblance in the grow.
you are using to much and to early nutrients, girls not suffering from under , but overfeeding them , hit me up per DM pls
ill explain
@Biotabs, hey there! Thanks a bunch for the offer. Sorry I didn't see it, somehow I forgot to look at the notifications lol
The girls recovered beautifully, though! I think they were struggling because they didn't get nearly enough light for the majority of week 1
I followed your "only add water" strategy in combination with 15l Autopots to the T, except adding Orgatrex to the first watering for the mycelium and bacteria
Boom boom spray was helping wonders with their struggle!
