used paper towel method, germinating one seed. seed popped and planted on 7/27.
out of growth medium (cost of maine stonnington blend)
light watering to encourage root growth
seedling week 1 8/3/24,
update 8/6/24 plant has started growing it's second set of fan leaves. up to roughly 3.5 inches tall now, growth seems good and healthy! no nutrients added to soil (photos from 8/6/24)
week 2 seedling 8/10/24
plant height up to 2.5 almost 3 inches. growth is good, starting to grow fourth set of leaves to fully enter vegatation stage
8/14 update - watered, 4th node came in well, 5th starting to grow. Still very short and stocky, roughly about 3.5-4 inches
Week 4 of growth started 8/24/24, likely 3 week of veg, possibly 4th.
Risking the biscuit and added 1/4 cup of stonington blend plant food as their directions suggest week 4-8 of veg and watered on 8/23/24 as i was out of town on saturday. Lots of condensation build up on the tent which I'm not too keen on but I like how humid it made the tent, hah.
Updated with photos taken 8/26/24, shows growth and my attempt to LST and spread her out a bit, looks to have worked to keep her shorter, but since she's a quick auto I'm just going to let her do her thing and took those off same day as photos. Will update later in the week once I water again, will need to likely on 8/27 or 8/28.
Personally struggle with figuring out when plant goes from seedling stage to veg stage other than 4 nodes rule of thumb...if anyone reading this has tips especially based on my photos, that would be greatly appreciated
week 5 of veg started 8/31, no water day of.
watered on 9/2/24, same day as photos.
growth is going really good, just trying to figure out how/when i want to train her. she's super bushy so her lower nodes still have relatively weak branches. Might 3D print some LST hooks and try to pull those branches out to allow for her to spread out better.
her bag seed counterpart is growing fantastically as well!
watered both plants on 9/5
Week 6 veg started 9/7/2024
watered and added 1/4 cup stonington blend plant food (on 9/8/24) to get her through the next two weeks, currently planning to flip at week 8. - edit as of 9/13, i will flip on 9/14. just want to get this grow flowering! i'm excited with how healthy they are both looking
did some LST on 9/8/24 to open her lower canopy up and help her spread and grow more in these next couple weeks. 3d printed LST hooks for lower canopy and added some LST benders(?) toward the top to bring her down and allow some more of the upper nodes to grow better.
overall really happy with how healthy she's looking at 6 weeks of growth. really pleased with this new soil and nute blend in veg. excited for the outcome, seeems to be my best grow yet. much to be attributed like getting a new taller tent, a new apartment with better HVAC system for more consistent temps, just a lot.
watered on 9/12, both plants are taking about a quarter gallon of water every 3/4 days. bag seed plant seems to be sucking in water like crazy in comparison to the sweet skunk
Flipped to 12/12 on 9/14, forgot to update log.
Watered on 9/14 or 9/15 i honestly don't remember which day
Mad at myself, missed adding earth worm castings between last week of veg, first week of flowering. I don't think it'll harm my plants not having that, just seemed to be a "bonus" to add as a top dressing on the soil. Instructions say to add twice, so I plan to do it half way through flower and see what happens.
Watered and added fish bone meal on 9/17
bag seed plant has a really interesting mutation, looks like one branch "split" into two but stayed together, curious to see how that flowers!
week 9 started 9/28, forgot to update logs properly.
watered on 9/30/24
added 1/4 cup fish bone meal and watered again on 10/1. surprised to see both plants felt like they had already sucked up all their water from day before.
checked on 10/2 and they seemed to maybe be wanting even more water, don't want to drown the girls so waiting until 10/3 to maybe water again? I've heard this soil retains a lot of water/moisture but seems like these two are thirsty!
