Germination
To germinate, I initially placed the seed in a small pot with Biobizz Light-Mix. Three days after the seed emerged from the soil, I transplanted it into a 30-liter fabric pot. However, next time I would germinate the seed either in water or directly in the large pot. The soil I used was prepared about 10 days earlier, following this approximate formula: - Light-Mix: 40% - Perlite: 20% - Worm castings: 14% - Insect frass: 10% - Biochar: 12% - Mycorrhiza: 1% - Alfalfa: 3% On the surface, I also planted helper seeds, which is essentially a mix of different clover varieties. This mix is intended to help improve the nitrogen content in the soil. I received these as a promotional gift with the order of the other soil components and thought I would give them a try. The plant is under a 36-watt LED lamp from Sansi, which hangs from a wooden frame.

I give about 0.5 liters of water every few days. I place an air stone in the water about 24 hours before watering. This is meant to allow any residual chlorine to evaporate and to enrich the water with oxygen.

On day 15, I cut it just below the top node. After 5 more days, I begin to secure the upper shoots parallel to the ground. For this, I use 4 mm thick grounding wire from the hardware store.

Next, I removed the lower two leaves because they were pushing the shoots above them upward. In the following days, the leaf tips started to curl slightly, so I adjusted the distance to the lamp. It is now hanging about 40 cm above the highest leaf, roughly 10 cm higher than before. Additionally, I continued to secure all the shoots as parallel to the ground as possible. I've also started trimming back the clover. From now on, I add Bio Tabs Orgatrex to the watering water according to the instructions. By the end of the week, I notice that the leaves are developing a strange pattern. Additionally, I discover two or three small black spots on the leaves, which turn out to be thrips.

This week, the plant receives about 1 liter of compost tea made from Bio Tab PK 5-8, mixed according to the instructions with Orgatrex and Bactrex. Additionally, I water it twice a week with approximately 2.5 liters of water. To combat the thrips, I generously spray the plant with neem oil. I also remove the lowest leaves that are pressing against the shoots.

This week, I continue to feed the plant with BioBizz compost tea and treat it with neem oil. While there are no more thrips visible, the leaves still exhibit a strange pattern. To combat fungus gnats, I have placed yellow sticky traps on the soil surface. As the plant has grown larger, I’m replacing the Sansi lamp with the Spider Farmer SF1000 LED 100W.
