Seed germinated very well which was nice after last grows problems. Origin of seeds is unknown so there is a slight chance that this will be something else than WW. Last time I though I was growing Northen Lights but afaik they don't smell like cheese and cat piss. :) This is experimental second time grow and I will be trying out some techniques I've learned through internets. I also got some new gear which I'm excited about. Goal is to keep whole thing low budget and maximize quality/yield on limited space. I liked how the last grow went with Water Cultivation (roots are sitting in nutrient solution with air bubbler) and will be doing it again here while correcting last grows minor mistakes. As seen on picture, I have stacked couple blocks to try and air prune the roots a little with middle layer. What I'm expecting this to do is to get stronger base for root zone with wider spread for optimal container usage. The net basket I'm using is fairly wide and deep so there's another reason to prepare it little longer. I will probably be top feeding it for another week until everything is ready. Again, I don't know what I'm doing so don't expect perfection. Hopefully at least one person will be able to get something out of this diary. More pictures to become after I'm done preparing my little DIY setup. Happy Growing and happy New Year!

Errythings okay. It's interesting how WW seems to make wider leaves than my last NL although it's considered to be more on the sativa side. I went to local pet shop to buy PH down for my new aquarium hobby and the dude started educating me about managing water PH. It seems like the air bubbled into the tank produces CO2 which causes Ph to fluctuate. Apparently there's some algae / microbes /plants to balance it but I'm just gonna suffer and feed the ph down as needed. I got a new 315W CMH lamp, pretty excited about that. It's a full spectrum 6400k light with uv , 10-15% blue light and shizz. I was considering leds first but ditched that idea after seeing some scientist talk about how the differect spectrum fotons positively affect plant health and growth. I feel lazy so I'm just gonna use the same 15L container all the way. Maby it helps with keeping the PH / Nutrients in balance. Tent is gonna have couple winflex blowers and 2 standard fans along with humidifier + towel. hopefully thats enough to keep out 300 watts of heat away. I'm gonna mix new solution tomorrow and let it sit for couple days to declorinate tap water and help with ph balance.

It's a bit late for third weeks update but not much has happened really. Plant is around 6cm tall at this point which doesn't seem much since it's 20 days old already. 2 weeks of sloppy top feeding is probably reason for that. Otherwise, plant looks very healthy and roots are doing good progress. It's gonna take couple more days until roots hit the bottom so it's almost time to move into taller container. As expected, the CMH produces lots of heat but it's cold outside and I'm able to keep it under control. I made cardboard/plastic thingie to block light and heat getting into bucket compartment. I've kept container with ice under bucket to keep everything under room temp chill just to be on safe side with mold/algae stuff. With cold becomes the problem of low humidity but plant doesn't seem to mind it too much. My humidifier also broke down so that doesn't help :) Lot's of manual work to keep PH levels down and room moist but I'm pretty happy with this overall. Groundwork is done and things are pretty well set for week fours growth spurt.

It's D25 and things are not looking too promising. I swapped new solution this monday with ~340 PPM (plain water 80, enzhymes included. last week was 290). It might be mostly just sludge/colour from solution but definitely seems like there might be some pythium issue going on at the start of roots. I'm not gonna do anything radical to it like peroxide. I topped the bucket with fresh, diluted and chilled solution and we'll find out in couple days if we still have growing plant left. Lower leaves got some nasty looking brown smudges started. I've kept PH somewhat well at range so I dunno, maby it's just good old nitrogen od? Plant still looks somewhat healthy and willing to go so maby I'm able to start bending it in couple days. Anyone in the audience with similar experiences? d2&: roots situation seems to be getting better and ph is suddenly keeping itself stable. I was hoping the plant would stretch a bit more but it really wants to keep it bushy and compact. Gonna be fun time bending the small trunk thats getting wider and wider :)

I know there might be millions things causing these but maby this is some common problem with hydro? Do things like this usually come along with root problems or have i messed up some other obvious thing? Other details in weekly/pics

hi there Haftanara, i can confirm that it's surely not N toxicity which you can from dark green leaves and glossy shine. It's not calcium problems which are more "spotty" and it's not magnesium which is more uniform around the edges of the leaves. It's could be PH fluctuations , certainly it looks exactly like it, but what i do think it is, is root problems that look like pH fluctuations because we're also seeing that leaf cupping and leaf curling ... and, you know... brown roots ! so what you can do is get something like some hydroguard, up the enzymes a lot maybe up to 2 , 2.5... or what i think will help the most is a technique called root pruning. Root pruning is when you cut all the unhealthy roots off, carefully. This technique is very effective at stimulating growth, so you'll actually see faster and more vigorous growth ! what you do is simply cut off any brown dark brown roots, until there are none left or until a maximum of less than 20% of the total root mass... then wait and see how great it helps ! you can repeat this once a week once every 10 days, up to you and up to the plant, but you wont be stunting it's growth, on the contrary, the plant will thank you for it ! does this make sense ? hope this helps ! 🚀

So it's early in wk 5 and plant seems to have somewhat recovered from last weeks drama with PH fluctuations or w/e it was. I didn't have the balls to go hard with the pruning and just kinda cleaned them out. Newer growth doesn't seem to have problems so far. PH has kept really stable after I started swapping out fluids more frequently. We're obviously not gonna break any records with this one so i've been chilling and doing some reading on how to prevent this in the future. I'm thinking about swapping the air stone with just water pump that's gonna make ripples on top of water. Air stone seems to warm up the solution too fast and probably plays part in fluctuating PH, we'll see.. Also there's the possible root problems so I will have rootguard or something with positive bacteria in future for this. I still wanna keep this somewhat organic and try to overcome this with better chilled solution Plant is starting to show pistils so it's also time to try out sturdier mix. Upped micro/bloom a bit since they contain most of magnesium/calcium/potassium in case the leaf problems come simply from that. Also added growth excellerator which I didn't have in last grow ("contains mix of growth stimulating seaweed and vegetable proteins and essential herbs") Interested to see if it actually does anything. PPM for whole thing is bout 350 but i'm not gonna swap it all at once. Training is still in progress so maby pictures about that in couple days along with progress. Early week 6 update of our lovely white widow that has been very nicely moving into flowering for couple days now. I've kept the solution fairly chill for past week and I can tell the roots and plant likes it overall. Chill water -> more oxygen and less algae -> Balanced Ph -> happy plant (and a lot of other stuff). Ph started to get unstable again after 6 days. cmh bulb and dwc combo has been doing great with the foliage. I removed bunch of damaged leaves but there's obviously more than enough to go forward. Bucket and airstone also got their halfway cleanup done so we're good to start producing some flower. Trying to keep everything neat and low but feels like i might run out of space anyway. I need to figure out something simple to keep the solution chilled for a week without manual labour, otherwise i'm happy.

expected plant to start streching more, but instead it has been churning leaves like crazy. I should have deleted some of those middle nodes to try an make one big cola to middle but feels a bit late now.. Every big stem has been bent or supercropped so it's probably good time to stop messing around and let it grow. Seed is supposedly fast finishing , still gonna give it nitrogen in hopes that it wants to stretch another week. Progress seems bout 1 week slower than last NL grow so hopefully we get to week 10 before harvest time, well see..

Well, the last stretch I was hoping for didn't really happen. Plant is in super lowryder mode and the colas start almost at ground level. Smell of this thing isn't what I expected . it's like fresh roses or something along with hints of that skunky cheese aroma. I did mention that I wanted to try some stuff so I've kept the temps extra low and humidity high. I don't know if its that or strain, but the colas seem bout' twice as dense and frosty compared to last northern light. Quality wise i'm already very happy and looks like we're still gonna get into 100+´grams range regardless of ph issues. Better pics coming up on last weeks, Can't wait to have a taste and see whats up 😵

Not much amber yet, kinda seems ripe enough to start thinking about flushing on wk10. can't really tell from crappy pics, but I promise there's some thiccness hiding under the first layer This hobby would get much more enjoyable soon as I find ways to keep PH somewhat stabilized. doesn't take too many hours of +-1 ph to show on leaves. list for next grow: ro water, better ph down, rootguard/orca, wider airstone and container and some circulation. dutch bucket method seems like something worth trying in future

There's some purple hue thing going on, think thats another nitrogen / ph lockout kinda thing, pheno or is this the kind thing to happen when you keep temps sub 25C? I did give it fairly sturdy bloom and perhaps little too much micro hence the burns

Looks like its normal i just would wait and maybe lower the ph a bit (5.5 - 5,8ph) . Some strains get/are purple/viloet/red/black or whatever (ww not really 😅). In the other hand plants turn purple at flower stage if the night temps drop (depends on strain how low, but in my experience normaly at about 15C° and strain which like it warm already starts sometimes at 20C°. Your PH can you geh down with a good ph down product. Take water, check ph, add ph down if necessary and mix it, wait some time and check ph again. Do it till your ph fits. (Ps the wait Time after adding ph down befor checking ph is important, so everything geh really mixed.) I use lemon juice to get my ph down, but im growing on soil and i dont know if lemon juice keep the ph stabil with hydro. Good luck ✌️

Really happy how this whole thing turned out. Everything is 8/10 frostied, dense and smokable so what is there to complain considering im not an expert at this 😚 Interesting how the smell during grow went from fresh flowers, cheese/skunk to pretty much just strong diesel smell. For me this feels like pretty strong smoke already, pretty rough throat hit with not that much of cotton mouth. DWC / CMH combo delivered and somewhere in future it's time to aim for that bigger W / gram number along with quality 🙏 whole project cost me bout 500$ since I diy'd the tent and filter conclusion; ditch the cheapo leds and go for quality 3200k bulb with little more airflow.
