Barney's Farm - Wedding Cake - Pineapple Express - My 3rd grow and first grow diary
First Grow Diary!
This will be my 3rd grow. My 2nd grow is still finishing up at the moment so i'm using a no name indoor greenhouse with a cheap ViparSpectre P600 until I can move the plants into my main Tent.
Although this is a temporary and cheap setup it seems to be working quite well. Humidity is consistent around 70%-80% and temperature around 25°C during the day and around 22°C-23°C during the night.
When I started my first grow I was a bit worried about the environment since my tent is in the basement which is quite humid (~80%) and cold (~18°C). I was able to get the humidity down to ~50%-60% (depending on the weather) inside my main tent by using a dehumidifier next to the tent. At first, I had it inside the tent, but that caused the temperature to rise up to 32°C peak which in turn resulted in my exhaust fan instantly exhausting the dehumidified air.
The seeds were germinated in Biobizz Light Mix and transplanted to the current 3.5L pot about a week ago. I believe i transplanted too early into the AllMix since the oldest leaves of the Pineapple Express are showing severe signs of nutrient burn.
I'd like to top these plants but i'm unsure about the timing. The plants look like they are ready to be topped but i feel like its a bit too early. I will probably wait a few more days before i top them.
Edit: Topped on 07.09.2024
Tried some LST on the 17.09.2024 however the next day i realized i snapped off one of the branches.
Edit: I decided to just leave the broken branch like it is and see what happens. The branch is still moving towards the light, so maybe it'll be fine. if it doesn't recover i'll just take it off.
20.09.2024:
Apparently i was bit to rough with both plants. today i saw that one of the top branches of the Wedding caked snapped too. Still looking healthy though
I have been neglecting this grow a little since i just harvested my last grow. But this week they'll move to the grow tent.
Edit: 27.09.2024:
Today i transplanted the plants and moved them over to the grow tent. I also slighty defoliated to allow more light to penetrate the canopy. During transplanting i was a bit worried the broken branches might fall off so i decided to tape them up after all.
At this point im just waiting for the branches to grow to canopy level before i flip to flower. Growth was a bit slow over the last week. Probably because the environment wasnt great. I turned down the light a bit from ~700 ppfd to ~550 ppfd. Also i added heating mats below the pots to increase root zone temperature because of the low temperatures. Today the plants look like they're picking up the pace again.
I was hoping the lower branches would grow to canopy level and that the Wedding caked catches Up with the pineapple express before i flip to flower. However it seems Like it wont happen. Im probably going to give them a few more days before i flip them.
Flipped to flower!
The Wedding Cake seems a little stressed based on the curled leafs up top, but I'm not sure if it's temperature or light related. I increased the light to 100%, raised it a bit and flipped to flower.
This week I received my new nutrients. For my last grow, I used the "Top Shelf" Recipe from Advanced Nutrients and got great results. So I decided to check out the full nutrient lineup from Advanced Nutrients (Master recipe). Depending on how much of a difference the additional nutrients make, I might go back to the "Top Shelf" recipe and use the other nutrients to supplement if needed.
The Pineapple Express is starting to smell delicious while the Wedding Cake doesn't seem to smell all that much yet. It might just be that the smell of the Pinepaple Express is to overpowering compared to the Wedding Cake
Today (23.11.2024) my heater arrived. The pretty colors are nice and all, but I did notice the growth slowing down. Hopefully the heater will get the temperatures back in check.
