Started my second grow the day before new years. Seeds arrived and the first two went straight into water. They sank the next morning and were place in a papertowel in an bag on a low heat pad in the dark. One made it (Ginny) and when the tap root extended longer then. 5cm was placed in soil (Fox Farm Happy Frog with extra pearlite). I tried to give the other seed a few days, but it was a no go. Started a 3rd seed in water and planted it on the 05 Jan. Woke up to see she (Luna) had poked through the soil.
Few new things for this grow. I'll be using 3gal smart pots with the same soil. I also have supplements from Emerald Harvest to go along with the 3 part nutrient set. Lastly I'll be using an HLG 288 v2 in 3k once they get a little older and can handle the light. For now they are under about 100w from 3 5k led and 2 4k cfl.
I'm really looking forward to this grow. Good genetics, good supplies, good times. I'll keep everyone updated as I go. Happy Growing!
Day 8. Not much to report. Growth is good. Ginny is starting out strong, Luna seems to be lagging behind a bit. I've been using only RO water at 6.5ph. The soil should definitely contain enough nutrients at this point to keep them healthy without overloading them. Just keep truckin I guess. Happy growing!
So, I think I figured out what was wrong with Luna. My own dumb fault. Her solo cup wasn't draining properly. I decided that even though it was a little too early to transplant, I want her on the same schedule as Ginny, who is thriving. Once I got the cup off and felt the soil, I knew she wasn't getting the air flow to her roots that she needed. She did have roots coming through to the side of the cup though so that's good. The photo of the transplant was from Ginny. He roots were just starting to circle. They both went into 3gal smart pots and will stay there for the remainder of the grow.
I'm on day 14 I think? I'm pretty happy. I dunno if the speed is normal as this is my first Auto, but it seems fast af.
A friend of mine turned me on to Mykos and Earthworm castings. Said he noticed a drastic difference in his plants. I wasn't really interested in doing a comparison as they are in different stages of growth and I also don't have a control. I trust his judgment though and that's good enough. The new light went into the tent today as well. HLG 260w XL V2 in 3k.
Happy growing!
Starting out week 4, on day 23. Sorry I'm a little behind. Both plants are showing pistils. Ginny is doing quite well and should be starting flower soon. Luna on the other hand, is very stunted. She is at 4 nodes and showing preflower, but she is only 3" tall. It's quite fascinating really. Now that she is able to spread her roots out and be healthy she is in good shape, just tiny and delicate. I love her all the same though. Light cycle will stay the same through the grow. I must say, while auto's seem to be easier, they are less fun. Just my opinion. Looking forward to my next grow. I'm thinking of trying my hand at regular seeds next. Happy growing!
Ginny is hitting her growth spurt. Bud sites are popping up everywhere. I was a little skeptical when I read a 60 day harvest from seed, but we're right on schedule. Luna is still quite a bit behind. I believe my first hypothesis is correct jn that she is having root issues due to my poor care during germination. She is getting a bud site though. Lol. Well see how it plays out. She's showing signs of nutrient deficiency but I think she'll make it. Happy growing!
Not a bad week. A little recovery from the transition but everything is going smoothly. Defoliated the lower portion of Ginny and she is doing great. I'll be happy to harvest her. She is starting to smell a bit which makes me happy. I anticipate 3-4 more weeks. Happy valentines day everyone! Happy growing too!
