Northern_Otter Defoliated both plants today for the second time and also cut off some lower branches in preparation for flipping to flower .The Northern lights have responded well to all training methods, topping LST, ScrOG, and defoliation.
Northern_Otter End of week 3 flower. Applied a top dress with a 1:1 ratio of Gaia green power bloom 2-8-4 and Buildasoil craft blend 3-5-2. Application rates were 7 tbsp per 7 gallon pot of craft blend and power bloom, I also applied 2 tbsp Gnarly barley to each 7 gallon pot. I worked the dry amendments into the top of the soil then topped that with a 1"-2" layer of worm casting and Build-A-Flower. After top dressing I watered with RODI water and recharge. Defoliated and lolipoped both plants also pruned off some lower branches. I removed all foliage and flower sites below the trellis net.

Northern_Otter End of week 6 flower. The tail end of week 5 and beginning of week 6 flower is when these girls started to finally smell a bit. The first aromas to come through were of musk and dank.

Northern_Otter weeks 7 and 8 the sweet aromas came through more and more. These Northern Lights are a great choice for a stealth grow. These two cultivars had some difference in morphology. Cultivar #1 grew a lot taller and faster than cultivar #2. #1 Stretched quite a bit more than #2, and her flower sites were much closer together. She was also more sensitive to watering, feedings, Light. and change in environment. Cultivar #2 grew much more short and compact, she pretty much trained herself in veg. In flower she had denser nugs and more internodal spacing. #2 was defintley the hardier culitvar and was a breeze to grow.
Chopped these ladies after 60 days of flowering. These plants produced some very tasty buds! There was not much difference in taste between the two plants. They both taste sweet with citrus undertones and a very smooth smoke. These girls were good for smoking right after drying and a breeze to trim! Although the terps were on point the flower was not very frosty or potent and lacking density. these traits are something you expect from a legendary strain like Northern Lights. I chucked my mother plants as well because they started to flower in veg under a 18/6 light schedule. I'm not sure if it was my growing methods or the genetics from Royal Queen seeds, this take on Northern Lights really missed the mark for me.
@haeknp3nnr, yeah Every time I tried to push more light on them they got cranky. So it was a vicious cycle of adjusting intensity and light height. I didn't want to burn them with light in early flower so I kept the intensity lower and played it safe knowing they would stretch.
