I got this freebie photoperiod Pineapple Chunk when I ordered seeds this year and I've been dying to plant her but didn't want to do just one photo, so I'm doing a run with two other photo freebies. My germination method is poking a seed into one of these cococoir plugs, then putting it in my Aerogarden with a shot glass over it until she germinates. Pretty successful so far as both of my others popped as well. I didn't nute the water that goes through, just some hydroguard. I let her stay for a few days until some nice roots formed and then this weekend took her down to her new home.
Set up includes a 5 gallon bucket with a 5 inch net pot. I pull the little root through the bottom of the net pot then gently fill the area around the plug with expanded clay pellets. As long as the tap root reaches the water, I don't have to top water or drip on them after this point. The bucket has an air stone going 24/7, as well as a small fan in the tent. The lights are on 17/7 (17 instead of 18 just to help with power bill a bit, lol). Right now they are on around 40%.
The water has week 1 GH trio nutes from growweedeasy.com's schedule, which seems to be working for me at this time. I also add calimagic and hydroguard. The water is from our well, I just fill the bucket 12-24 hours before I nute it so that it can degas and absorb some oxygen. Each bucket ends up with about 3 gallons in it, maybe a little more, so I use 3 gallons as my basis for measuring nutes. Not super precise but has been working for me!
