This is my first time ever growing cannabis. I ordered 3 seeds from seedsman of The Church, bred my Greenhouse Seeds. I have been growing many other plants this past year to prepare me for the gardening life.

This was a bad week for me, but I learned a lot from it. The growth of the three ladies was slowed tremendously. I concluded its due to a few things: The temperature in my tent was getting too low. The pots I planted the seeds in were too big, and I should have started in smaller pots and transplanted. I also believed I over watered a little bit.

After learning from last week, I added a space heater to the tent to increase both the day and night temperatures. The three plants began to grow at a more regular pace by the end of the week. Although they are all the same strain, each plant looks much different from the other two.

The plants grew very nicely this week. I am impressed. I began adding CANNA nutrients are 1/2 of the recommended amount on their website. One of my plants looks healthier and larger than the other two. I chose this plant to do the first topping with.

All three plants have been topped and trained the same way by now. One of my plants, is noticeably bigger than the other two. I have noticed that I only have to water around every 3 days. The black jars in the back of the tent are lettuce and basil plants I am growing hydroponically using the Kratky method.

One of the best weeks so far. Lots of growth, especially from the largest plant. One of the plant is lacking in growth. I only have been having to water every 4-5 days, but I watered last night and I am leaving for 5 days starting today, so I hope they will be okay.

For most of this past week, I was away and the plants were under the care of my mom and dad. They did a pretty good job because I came back to some healthy plants. Right before I left, I attempted a FIM. I came back and the node that I FIMed continued to grow regularly, as if it was never FIMed. The fan leaves have noticeable cuts where I initially snipped it. Maybe I cut too high up. I am not sure what went wrong here because it was my first attempt at a FIM. Good learning for the future.

Lots of growth this week, I am very pleased. I'm getting close to the point where I am thinking of flowering. Maybe 1 more week to switch to flowering? The canopies aren't too even, as the plant in the front is much more mature than the other two. This is my first grow, so please let me know if you recommend me doing anything prior to flipping to flower.

Do my plants look good to flip to flower in 1 week? Should I do anything else before flipping like more LST or defoliation? Any insight is helpful, thank you.

She's looking great! Well done! There are a couple of things I would suggest: 1) a little more clean up around the main stalk. I'd remove the little stuff from the branches, the stuff that is near the main stalk. Those tiny branches that would yield only popcorn. 2) Remove the strings. I see several places where the plant is growing around the tie. When you start to flower. She will have a big growth spurt. You'll want that growth to go towards the flowers, not the branches or stalk. In my experience, if you leave her tied down, during the flower stage. She will spend more energy on the branches and stalk, rather than the flower. My diary has a good comparison to show what I am talking about. The Cheese was untied, and has grown large flowers. The White Widow Max was left tied down during the flower stage, and grew a very large stalk. While having only small flowers. So again, I'd say cut her loose for the flower stage. Otherwise - you've done very well !!!

Grow is still going well. Thinking of adding a trellis net and flipping once the plants reach that height. I took a clone from each plant to give to my friend so the strain can live on!

I cut down on the Cannazyme and started using Botanicare CalMag. The plants are beginning to fill in the trellis net. Just about a week or two until I plan on flipping to flower. I wish the net I have had smaller size holes, but I'm sure this one will do just well.

It has officially been one week since I flipped to flower. I am keeping the heater in the tent to regulate temperature, but I wish I could remove it so the plants would have more trellis space it fill up. I added CANNA Boost to my feeding mix to give the flowers a boost.

Second week of flowering going very well! I have one predicament, the lower branches under the trellis net might need to be removed. I'm not too certain which ones to remove because I already removed a lot of them, but there are some large healthy ones that are just not making it up to the net (like the one in the photo I pointed out). With branches like these, is it better to remove them now?

Many pistols are forming on my plants. I tossed in a 150w COB led light next to my 600w ViparSpectra blurple. I am hoping this will help ripen the nugs and make them dense. I am trying to cool down the tent a few degrees for flower.

Started this week off with a big defoliation. I thought I pulled off too much at first, but it worked out alright. I plant on defoliating one more time around day 40 of flowering. Trichome are visible on all the plants but the one in the back right has a lot more than the other two. Starting to get a little sticky.

This week started out pretty well. Lots of trichomes being produced. Towards the end of the week I noticed nutrient burn and/or light burn on two of the plants. I am watering with plain ph water for a feed or two and I also raised the lights to help with this.

6 weeks of flower so far. The nugs are looking pretty good. At the beginning of this week I noticed the leaves yellowed and I also noticed symptoms of nutrient burn. Now looking at it, it seems like the leaves are changing colors because they are getting late into flower. I noticed a small amount of purple showing up on a few leaves. I watered with only water twice and just fed more nutrients at the end of this week, including the CANNA PK.

I have concluded the problems with the plants are due to light burn. The nugs are getting big, and one one of the plants they are super dense. The strain is supposed to be 9 weeks of flowering, so I may begin flushing soon.

The grow went relatively well. I had 3 plants of The Church by Greenhouse Seeds, but each plant was very unique. Each seed I got germinated and grew strong and healthy. Would recommend Greenhouse Seeds to other growers. The high was nice and relaxing. It made me giggly and mellowed me out.

This was my first ever grow and I am extremely proud of it. The nugs are dense and smell fantastic. The phenotypes on each of my plants were very unique, and each has its own smell. This did make it a little harder to care for the plants, but it ended up working out fine. I opted for a dry trim and did a tight manicure on the nugs. I plan on turning the trim into cannabutter using a sous vide machine.

Looking great! I have grown this strain before and also had different looking plants but during flower I could see the characteristics of the buds were very much the same. I had fantastic results. Good luck, excited to see the results so will follow.

@bildo, great job bro! I have noticed the same for little. But my girl has a bright green with purple stems since flower. First i tought its a deficience but i am flushing now past 6 days and think now there 7-9 days to harvest and now my leafs gonna little yellow now...i think thats a strain thing...when interested look at my sec. Diary...there are 4 clones of my church. Will test a sog with 14 girls after my actualy flower-run...stay high!

i think that temperature-wize you should also start flowering now (dont know where globally you grow) coz 25c is optimal and maybe in the near future weeks you will get warmer outside temps and not ideal.. your room now looks temperature-ideal.take advantage to flower now

@midEastern, I live in North East US, so it is very cold here now. I have a heater in the tent that brings the temp to 75 F. I was hoping I would be able to remove the heater, but I feel like it will get too cold because my house is normally around 65 F.

bildo
bildocommented6 years ago
@MovingOn, very nice information. I am familiar with taking clones, but I never thought about inbreeding a strain to the point where its offsprings phenotypes don't differ much. There is so much to cultivation and it is all very exciting!
MovingOn
MovingOncommented6 years ago
@bildo, it is very common. The common term is "phenotype". Each of those plants are a different phenotype. Just like how two human parents can have three children that look nothing like each other, it can also happen in the cannabis world. Humans and cannabis have a lot of heterozygosity due to so much hybrid mixing, and it causes a lot of variations in the offspring. A lot of breeders will try to get rid of this by inbreeding their strains, but sometimes it takes a very long time to get genetic stability. Some strains are more prone to it than others as well. A lot of farms actually do "phenotype hunting" to get the best mother plant that they can for cloning. They will sprout dozens, if not hundreds of seeds to look for the best mother that is a combination of being mold and disease resistant, a fast and resilient grower, the best tasting and smelling, and/or a high yielder. Then they will continuously grow that mother forever by keeping her in a veg light cycle, and use the branches that it grows for cloning.

@MovingOn, crazy, right? This is the first time I've ever grown cannabis and I am not sure if strains usually vary in appearance like this. Either way, I am excited to smoke all three and see for myself if there is a real difference.
