Brocolis_Grow_Br Germination in water took about 48 hours, and then another 3 days to show on the surface of the soil.
This year I was curious to use a ready-to-grow soil (instead of mixing a soil with what I had here that I would use for any other plant). I looked at Tropikali but didn't have the money to pay for it. I ended up going with a Terrô Auto. It might be hard to judge because I'm not growing more than one plant with another method to compare. My impression of the Terrô so far:
- I bought a 45L package but I'm not really believing in that whole volume. The bag came with 10kg. (I have no idea about soil densities to compare)/
One thing that this low weight indicated to me is that the soil was probably super dry, and when I opened it to put in the pot, I confirmed that. So dry that it became hydrophobic, completely rejecting water. I did some watering with a spray bottle, mixed it a few times to try to bring moisture to the center. In the end, I put the felt pot in a water tray and left it overnight, hoping at least the soil would improve in appearance. I'm still not convinced that I managed to make the soil more cohesive and less dry, but that's life, I planted and moved on.

Brocolis_Grow_Br First week, starting to count the cycle from the day it showed the first pair of true leaves (10/Oct/2024).
In the photo, it's 7 days old. Clearly stretching, I don't have much access to direct sunlight around here and the days have been very overcast. This made it grow tall and super thin and fragile. In the photos, I'm supporting it with some bamboo sticks.

Brocolis_Grow_Br Growth is still very fragile. I'm having to support it with even more things, the winds have been strong, and I've found it completely laid down a few times. I'm setting up a structure to increase its exposure and see if I can solve this.
I put the first days of week 3 here for reference because I believe that by the end it will be much bigger. I added at least 4/5 hours of indoor lighting for it, with some LED spotlights I already had here. It's not perfect, but I believe it will help (I copied from @TheBrazilianGuy's diary). One thing that helped resolve its droopiness was really tightening the soil around the plant. The soil is so loose and retains so little water that it doesn't support the plant very well yet. With more roots, I believe I won't have a problem, but for now, it helped a lot.

Brocolis_Grow_Br The days continue to be terrible around here. Rain, rain, and more rain. Very few hours of full sun. I've been using a little setup with a 50W LED since last week, adding about 4 extra hours at the end of the day. She's started to fill out more, but she's still gaining a bit of height. From the plant's development, it's clear that she's thirsty for light; she would probably be half the height and twice the width if the conditions were better. But I'm not willing to invest in that electricity bill, so I’ll probably end this support, even though it's working well. Overall, she looks beautiful, with excellent coloration. She had a little burn on the tip of one of the leaves, and I believe it was because the LED was too close to the plant. Since I had never used it before, I tried to figure it out using an app that measures LUX. It's not even close to ideal, but since I measured and it was half the value of full sun, I thought it would be fine for her to handle, but maybe the heat from the LED (which is just a reflector) was too much. It hasn’t happened again.
I noticed a few white flies buzzing around her nonstop; I've been catching them by hand using a yellow tape. I scare them away with my hand and keep the strip around, and they stick to it.

Brocolis_Grow_Br The rain still hasn't stopped, and she hasn't had the chance to get full sun yet. I let her get rained on to see if it could soak the soil a bit to break some of its hydrophobia; it worked partially but not completely. Just turning over the surface a bit, you can easily find completely dry clumps. I'm going to add a layer of dry straw mulch to see if it starts to create some life and speeds up this process. Looking at other photos online, I think she's QUITE behind in size, really small for her age. I think she's going to stay very small.

Brocolis_Grow_Br I had a few good sunny days, so I didn't add any more artificial lighting to her. She stretched out nicely but is still quite small. The leaves are all stained because there's construction of a building next door and cement splattered everywhere. I think it might affect those dirty leaves a bit, but nothing she won't overcome. No idea if it could affect the soil. I'm dealing with white flies driving me crazy. She started to emit a wonderful smell for such a small and underdeveloped little plant.

Brocolis_Grow_Br I ended up putting her aside a bit because I was moving and had limited access. She entered flowering and started to stretch quite a bit, but you can see that she’s a skinny, light plant. The buds will be small. Maybe I can get a maximum of about 30g dry? One characteristic worth mentioning is the smell. It came on super strong, spreading everywhere. You can smell it from afar; in full sun in the morning, I can smell it in other areas of the house. Overall, she’s healthy, but I started to notice some discoloration on the leaves at the base, which aligns with what I saw with the Terrô soil. It can carry the plant to the end, but I probably could have fed her a bit earlier or at the start of flowering.

Brocolis_Grow_Br It kept growing well, the smell is even stronger and has a nice aroma. I had to transport it in the car to a new location and the smell lingered for days.

Brocolis_Grow_Br Starting to enter the final stretch. The smell is still strong and the pistils have started to change color. The discolorations (which I think are natural at this stage of the process) keep advancing. She's not getting as much direct sunlight as I would like because I don't have anywhere else to do that. I think she's getting about 4/5 hours of direct sun a day. We've had days of heavy rain, maybe about 5 in a row, but I haven't seen any problems with pests or mold yet. Since I just now had a chance to stop and look at the plant, I remembered that I hadn't pruned any of the little popcorn buds; they weren't even that small, and on a sturdier plant, I might leave them, but she's so skinny that any extra energy will help fatten up at least some of the upper buds.

Brocolis_Grow_Br It has a fragrant scent; when the sun hits it, the smell travels far. I added a bit of organic compost that I make myself here in the compost bin, but I don't think it will have time to help the plant.
It's starting to get close to the date. I looked at it under the microscope the other day, and some trichomes are starting to turn amber, but there's still a lot of clear ones, so I think I still have a whole week ahead. It's been raining almost every day, so I'm starting to worry about mold or pests. It picked up some marks from whiteflies, which is hell; I always attract that pest. Overall, it looks nice, but the buds are very thin. I'm guessing it will yield about 30/35g dried, but I don't know the quality of that. Even though it's thin, it's well-resinous.

Brocolis_Grow_Br Harvested on 01/15/2025, at 97 days. She just wouldn't bulk up. Where I am now, there wasn't enough sunlight exposure anymore, unfortunately. It turned into a poor underdeveloped plant, the worst-looking one I've ever harvested, but that's life.
I thought the trichomes were getting quite amber, but at the same time, the plant still seemed like it had a long way to go. I was starting to notice more and more pests on the leaves, so to avoid taking any risks, I made the harvest. I ended up losing just a little to pests, but the leaves were already at their limit. I might have lost around 2g. The buds were skinny, practically no leaves, just the scrawny calyxes. But still, they were resinous! The appearance was horrible, but the flavor and potency were great, I liked it! Both smoked and in the vape. They looked so sad that I didn't even know how to trim, because if I took anything off such a skinny bud, I ended up taking the minimum possible.
I got 30g dry (about 5g more than I expected when looking at her, so that's okay). The next one will be indoors.
@CaninhaSativa, very little. I would say they were taking from 8 AM until about 1 PM. At most. I also think I made a big mistake trusting the Terrô soil so much; it became clear that this soil needed a lot of supplementation still. But I gotta say that the high is better than its appearance.
