Mephisto Genetics Freebies - Strawberry Nuggets X Northern Cheese Haze seed was germinated and planted on 11/4/2024 My setup is in a 2X2 closet with a pair of SF1000 led lights, 100 watts each. I use an AC Infinity 4" exhaust fan and carbon filter. I've been growing photo period plants for the last few years in this closet. I was using bagged living soil like "Coast of Maine" and "SoHum" without any issues, but want to try a few other methods to see what finished products I like. I would grow 1 plant and veg it to fill the canopy with a scog net then flower. A full cycle would take 5 months and yield 6 ounces. This is why I'm changing to perpetual with autos for a while. Seems like more fun and more varieties with a new harvest every 33 days or so. My intention is to perpetual grow, popping a new autoflower every 33 days. I built three 5 gallon planters that fit next to each other perfectly in the closet. Each planter has a frame around it to aid in support, or to train the plant to grow within its area. After taking everything out of the closet, re painting, making a few changes and loading it back up, I'm ready to pop the first auto and get this cycle started! I purchased a few bricks of Coco Bliss from Amazon, rehydrated it and rinsed it three or four times to remove any salt. I then buffered it in 7.5 ml of Calimagic per gallon of water in a bucket overnight. I drained it then soaked it again overnight with new calmag solution. The next day I drained it and rinsed it with plain water. I mixed in 33% Perlite, 15 grams of growdots and filled the first 5 gallon planter. I added about a solo cup size spot in the center with coco and Perlite that had no growdots to plant the seed in. While I was doing all that, I put a single seed in a wet paper towel sealed in a plastic bag kept in a warm dark place. The seed popped and within 48 hours I had a half inch root. I planted the germinated seed in the unfertilized coco, sprinkling a little recharge in the hole covering it up a little after. I put a clear cup over it to trap the humidity in after a few teaspoons of water, set the lights for 24/0 and fingers crossed. And we're off!

I don't know when I'm supposed to count day 1 from. I'm going to count it from the day it emerges from the soil. If it's from the day the seed gets wet, add 4 days. Day 1 - 11/6/2024: The seed popped out of the soil and lost it's seed casing! I added 15 ml plain water with a syringe around it. I'll leave the cup on for 1 more day. I have the lights at about 25% right now. After the cup comes off and the first set of true leaves come in, I'll slowly increase it to about 50%. Day 2 - 11/7/2024: I removed the cup and gave it 15ml of water. Day 3 - 11/8/2024: Didn't need anything, turned a fan on low to move the air around. Day 4 - 11/9/2024: Gave it plain water, didn't measure it, about a half a cup. Not much to report. Day 5 - 11/10/2024: Nothing to do or report. All is well. Day 6 - 11/11/2024: Watered today. All is well Day 7 - 11/12/2024: All good.

Not much will be going on this week. Water with Recharge once, and let her do her thing. Day 11 -11/16/2024 The second set of true leaves have a wierd disfigurement amd discoloration to them. I uoloaded a pic for Day 11. I think it's one of two things, to much light or coco/calmag issue. Since I've never grown with 24hr light cycle, I bet the amount of light I'm giving them is too much. I backed the lights off 50% and will see how the next set comes in over the next few days. I washed the coco really well and checked EC before to be sure I rinsed out as much salts as I could get out. Then buffered twice before a final rinse. So I don't believe it is a coco issue. Maybe. Lol. Day 13 - 11/18/2024 The new set of leaves seem normal so far. The only thing I did was lower the light intensity, so I'm hoping that was what was causing the issue with the second set of true leaves. I may never know. Watered it and that's about it. Day 14 - 11/19/2024 It's going. I think I have some sort of deficiency. Not sure what. I'll figure it out sooner or later.

Day 22 - 11/28/2024 - I spotted the first pre flower. I'm a little surprised how quick it started. Could be a reaction to the cal/mag issue I think I'm having. I've added a quarter dose of CaliMagic with each watering and it seems to be helping a little with new growth. It'll start the stretching now. Day 23 - 11/28/2024 - spotted a few more pre flowers today, and branching has really start to take off. Next watering I'm gonna water to run off and soak the entire planter. Until now, I've been watering on the lighter side, but with the switch to flower and the issue I'm having it can't hurt. Day 26 - 12/1/2024 - removed 4 fan leaves that were blocking the growing tips of lower branches. I would have just tucked them, but the were in bad shape from my cal/mag (maybe) issue. I evenly watered a gallon of water and got about 25% runoff. The water was PH6 and had 1ml of calmag and 1/2 teaspoon of recharge. I can already see the positive impact after just a half day. Growdots should have enough calmag to work in coco without additional calmag, but maybe not. Don't really know.

Day 29 - 12/4/2024 Full steam ahead. Looks like I finally fixed the calmag issue. I learned grow dots needs additional calmag with coco. Or maybe my buffering job wasn't good enough. Day 30 - 12/5/2024 All good. Still got leaf issues. In the next day or two I'm gonna tie the branches in place and give it a light leaf stripping. Day 32 - 12/7/2024 Tied all the branches to contain them i side the planter. Stripped a handfull of leaves. Removed a few branches that were just starting to grow down low. Watered with a medium dose of calmag and recharge to runoff.

Day 49 - 12/15/2024 Huge leaf striping today. I removed big fans and branching that needed to go. I'm not uaed to keeping these plants so small. Gonna need to get used to only having 6 or 8 tops.
