Weeder_am_Start Let's get started with the test grow of the new 2024 Mars Hydro FC3000-Evo lamp.
For the strain, I've chosen Barneys Farm Glookies. I will be growing just one single plant in a 80x80cm space and training it as wide as possible.
This week, I first got my homemade DWC system ready for use and planted the seedling.
The DWC system consists of a 30L bucket, an Aquaforte air pump with 20L of air per minute, and an Aquaforte diffuser with a 20cm diameter.
By the end of Veg Week 1, the Glookies received about 260mMol of light.

Weeder_am_Start The Veg Week 2 is over and the Glookies has developed very well under the Mars Hydro FC3000-Evo.
The roots have gained quite a bit of mass and the lady has also grown very bushy and compact.
This week I added a level indicator to the DWC Pod so I can always check the nutrient solution level from the outside.
For this, I attached screw eyes and a wire to the lid, which should make it easier for me to tie down after topping.

Weeder_am_Start This week, the head had to come off! A lot of mass has been taken away, and the shoots have been tied down.
From now on, it's all about going wide.
After 3 days, the lady had already recovered well.

Weeder_am_Start This week, I actually wanted to spread out a bit more.
Unfortunately, the week was overshadowed by an accident where I broke a branch.
I had to fix that first and postponed the renewal of the nutrient solution because I wanted to move the plant as little as possible.
Otherwise, it's developing excellently. The root mass has also increased tremendously.

Weeder_am_Start Unfortunately, the broken shoot didn't make it and had to be removed. That set me back quite a bit, but she has since recovered.
It has gotten a bit cold at night, so I'm using an infrared heater during the night phase to ensure better temperatures.
Otherwise, she is developing well. I will let her grow for a few more days and then send her into flowering.
The roots and the stem look very strong. I think she will do well during the stretch.

Weeder_am_Start This week we're going wide one last time.
The broken shoots have left quite a nice hole on one side.
Hopefully, that will close up this week. I've brought everything back to about the same height and I'm giving the lady a few more days to recover before we finally go into the 12:12 cycle.

Weeder_am_Start This week is the last Veg week, because now it's time for flowering.
The plant has grown quite well and the holes caused by the broken shoot are almost closed up. The entire Veg phase could have been 2 weeks shorter without these setbacks.

Weeder_am_Start The first week of flowering is over and the stretch has fully kicked in.
The bush is spreading out a lot and is really thirsty.
They're drinking almost 2 liters of nutrient solution a day now.
The EC value is slowly going down, so I think I need to add a bit more nutrients.

Weeder_am_Start The plants are now in the second week of the flowering phase and are developing beautifully. They continue to gain height significantly, which is due to the stretch in this phase. The daily water requirement has risen to about 2 liters per plant, reflecting the increased activity and growth.
The first signs of flowering are clearly visible, a promising sign for the upcoming bloom period.
Next week, defoliation is on the agenda to optimally concentrate light on the productive flower areas. The lower shoots, which receive little light, will be removed to direct the plants' energy to the main shoots. This lays the foundation for a bountiful harvest.

Weeder_am_Start The third week of the flowering phase has begun, and the plants continue to develop excellently. The daily water requirement remains consistently at about 2 liters per plant. The flower sites are now clearly visible and are increasing in size and structure daily – a promising outlook for the upcoming flowering period.
As the stretch phase is now coming to an end, I have extensively defoliated to ensure that all productive shoots receive optimal light. Lower shoots that had no chance of getting enough light were removed to concentrate the plants' energy on the main flowers.
Additionally, I have freshly prepared the nutrient solution: EC 2.2 and pH 5.9. The fertilizer has been switched to a pure bloom fertilizer, supplemented with some PK 13/14 to further promote flower development. The plants are in perfect condition, and everything is ready for a strong flowering phase.

Weeder_am_Start The fourth week of the flowering phase is going excellently! The plants continue to develop beautifully and remain hungry – they are drinking about 2 liters of water per day consistently. The flower sites have now turned into small, compact buds that are getting bigger every day.
A little incident with the nutrient solution: The EC value briefly rose to 3.8. I immediately took action and lowered the value again to prevent a possible nutrient excess. Fortunately, the plants show no signs of over-fertilization and still look extremely vibrant.
The growth is still perfect, and I'm confident that some really fat buds will develop here. The leaves are healthy, the flower sites are compact – everything looks like a promising harvest!

Weeder_am_Start Hello Growmies, 🌱
the time has come – my Glookies have reached the 5th week of flowering and are absolutely thriving in the DWC system! The buds have grown really well, become super dense, and promise a great harvest. 🌟 I'm super satisfied with the progress so far, but as life sometimes goes, a little setback occurred: thrips have sneaked in for the first time in my grow career. 😞
These tiny pests haven't caused much damage (not yet!), but I'm not taking any risks. 💪 Lacewing larvae are already ordered and will hopefully clean up soon. ♀️

Weeder_am_Start Flowering Week 6 – Glookies under the Mars Hydro FGC3000 Evo
The Glookies in the DWC system continue to grow strong! The buds are spreading out more and more, while the root ball has now reached an impressive size. It looks like the flowering will last about 10 weeks in total.
Since the foliage got a bit too dense again, I exposed some lower branches to give them more light. Additionally, the tank was completely cleaned and the nutrient solution was freshly prepared – optimal conditions for the coming weeks!
On to the final phase! 💪🌿🔥

Weeder_am_Start This week, unfortunately, there was an unpleasant surprise: thrips have sneaked in! 😬 I have absolutely no idea where they came from – they usually spread through other plants or substrate, but in DWC there’s no substrate, and there are no other plants in the grow room either. 🤷♂️
Luckily, I was able to manage the problem well with beneficial nematodes. The little helpers did a great job! 🐞💪
Aside from that, everything is going according to plan. The buds are continuing to develop beautifully, and autumn is slowly starting – the leaves are turning really nice colors. Just a few more weeks until harvest! 🍁🔥
