14 days from seed. Repotted yesterday, primarily Sunshine Soil #4 with a weak mix of sheep manure compost and worm castings.
In an effort to combat temperatures with my other grows I turned off the oscillator fan, cut my external ventilation by about half, installed two indirect fluroescents (2x80W) to provide heat, and moved the plants about ten inches closer to the light.
This plant had a minor scare early in the week when I misted it, and inexplicably hit it with too strong a force of water which caused it to bend on a slant. I am guessing I damaged the stem a bit, but it has yet to wilt after half a week.
Day 21 from seed. I turned the oscillator fan back on and all my plants seem relieved. The increase in temperature and humidity (and decrease of external ventilation) has benefitted all the plants. My grow space is 6’ x 4’, which is a little big, but I have the fan and a small homemade clone tent out of frame. The fluroescents are only adding heat and indirect light.
Day 29 from seed. I have bent the main stem and am trying to maximize room. I’m going to creep the plant along the soil and allow the main stem to gain size. I selectively defoliated leaves that were under the bend or laying on the soil. Looks a bit droopy because I just watered.
Day 39 from seed.
This plant started to show signs of overwatering, or deficiency, or what I suspect is light intensity/heat stress. All my veg. tent plants suddenly looked tired, stressed, etc. It could be a variety of things but after debating over a lengthy vape session Max Pointy eventually said, “well... you have to do something.” So I moved everything to the original height. I unfortunately have stunted the growth in any case and will have to take extra veg. time to hopefully recover.
Day 43 from seed. The indica plants seem to have taken the light stress the worst in my veg. tent. Hash Plant seems slowed if not stunted entirely. I topped the main stalk in the hopes of promoting new growth, but also because it had become much taller (and subsequently droopy with the damage) and ran out of pot space. If that sections recovers there will be two little stalks. I am being very patient and am not discouraged.
Day 51 from seed. It has been a long road back. Lots of time lost when the plant was silently roasting under intense light, then time recovering from the damage. I’m not sure if this plant was deficient in general, or deficient due to light stress, or deficient in general - but an application of plant food has brought back some green and the plant is growing again. These things have remarkable resiliency. More patience required but dare I say this thing may br allright.
I have taken a few attempted clones and constantly trimmed spotted, dead leaves (possible deficiency - see first pics), so the plant is still thin.
I recently tied a few branches since the comeback.
Day 58 from seed, nice and green. Just chugging along. I plan on transplanting to a larger pot maybe next weekend. No nutrients this week. Looking good...
Day 64 from seed. This plant has pretty much recovered, to the point where I was confident enough to defoliate/lollipop. It has 4+ weeks to veg. so there is no rush.
Before the transplant to a bigger final pot I fed 24-8-16 Miracle Gro All Purpose plant food.
Day 73 from seed. Hash Plant (I) is just vegging away and getting bigger. I will defoliate again as it regains vegetation. Just water lately. Looking good!
Day 81 from seed. I am calling an audible and throwing this plant into flower! It had recovered so much and looked really great, so why not? I want to rotate through my veg. tent. In the end its not that much smaller than other plants in my flower tent. Because it was on a whim I have not transitioned food yet, I have only fed 24-8-16 Miracle Gro All Purpose food.
Day 88 from seed. The watering schedule has gone great so it cycled back through. I’m transitioning to 18-18-21 Miracle Gro tomato food. The stretch has been quick with this one.
Day 95 from seed, two weeks of flowering complete. Everything looks good so I defoliated/lollipopped the main branches. Its been just the water rotation and I am ready to start the flowering food. This strain looks very similar to Black Indica, but this plant stretched less than my other one and was the smaller of the two.
Day 102 from seed, three weeks of flowering complete. The day count from Hash Plant (I) or Black Indica (I) is off..... oh well. This plant is growing well. I recently fed it 0.1-0-5 Earth Alive Big Blue Alga Liquid Seaweed. Everything looks fine.
Max Pointy and I have been researching the light spectrum, and the specs of the large grow lights, and elected to purchase some yellow/red spectrum LED light bulbs to flesh out the flowering range. It fills in a noticeable drop in spectrum of the large light. They have a 16 actual wattage rating each, so I added 80W (One bulb was a dud, I will be looking to add one more to make six). The plants seem to have responded well and are producing buds at a seemingly faster rate. With timing its hard to gauge the benefits until i grow a few more plants.
Day 109 from seed, four weeks of flowering complete. About four weeks to go. The rotation is food next, later this week. Everything looks great.
The buds smell pungent, like hashish. In flowering plant form this isn’t as attractive as the sweet/fruity strains, but Hash Plant will be really nice once cured and consumed.
Day 116 from seed. Five weeks of flowering complete, three weeks to go. Everything is looking good. This plant’s resin is hashish/herb like so its not as fragrant as the others. The leaves are praying like mad, I’m not sure if its experiencing light stress or what... but none of the others are like this. Everything looks fine, nice smelly buds. I fed Wholesome blackstrap molasses shortly after last week, and most recently 0-10-10 Alaskan Morbloom today (opposite ends of the week).
Day 123 from seed. Six weeks of flowering complete, two to go! This plant is finishing up nicely, the buds are just starting to swell so I am a bit relieved. I suspect that the massive lollipopping/defoliation hurt yield. The buds are nice and frosty though. Its hard to really distinguish this plant from the rest of the smells in my tent. Just water after all that food as we are in the final flush stages.
In preparation for future generations that require larger pots and perhaps more room, I lowered the plants down.
Day 132 from seed, seven weeks of flowering complete. One week to go! This plant is using up every last nutrient, which makes for some interesting snapshots. It bulked up near the end so I am happy with that progression.
Day 138, eight weeks of flowering complete. The time has come! Harvest! I have already flushed, and given 24 hours of darkness. Here is a sneak peek before I cut her down. This plant really used up every last leaf.
No issues with harvest.
I will no longer lollipop, i.e. defoliate and strip the branches other than the crown buds. The yield was significantly reduced. Still improving in watering/nutrients so that also may have reduced overall yield. Obviously the early light damage did not help things but the plant eventually recovered. It was an interesting story!
24 grams is just not enough though and I’ll look to improve upon that. These are the prize buds from the same generation of plants though, so strong - me likey!
