Hello. This is the start of this diary for Captain Future by Sensible Seeds Premium Selection seeds I've been wanting some sativa smoke, so I'm going to try this. Seed description says up to 36% THC. I'm hoping for something around 28% - 30% THC. I found great prices on the 2023 and 2024 Cannabis Seed Collections on 25 - 50 and 100 seeds... Check it out I soak the seed for 24 hours in 2 cups of water and a pinch of cinnamon. Cinnamon is anti fungal and has cloning gel properties. I add 4 to 5 drops of 30% Hydrogen peroxide to help clean the water and add oxygen. It also helps break down the membrane inside the seed so the seedling slides out easier. Don't like floaty seeds so I put them in a silk tea bag to help hold them below the water line. After 24 hours I dump them on a paper towel and add some soak water, just enough to soak the towels with just a bit left over when you hold it at 45 degrees. See Pic. Got 12 seedlings that I'm going with. I've got 3 flowering areas and will have 4 plants in each. Being mostly sativa I'll need some extra room to train them. The 4 last struggling seedlings, I won't throw out quite yet. Sometimes they just need some time to get going. All their shells are off so light energy might get them going. Ok. Have Fun Chuck.

Hello. This is the first week of veg for these girls. Most of them have their second set of leaves filled out and are working on their 3rd set. They are taking right off now. What wide leaves for sativa dom plants. Had to stake 9 plants with hand made props. I like using copper because it doesn't rust. I like the spike to run down the inside of the cup, not to disturbed the new roots. Everyone got some plant food and water with friendly fungus and microbes spores in the water. These Captain Future seeds were selfed by Sensible Seeds, who I hope, had a great specimen to work with. Wishing you Happy Holidays and a Great New Year. This is the year... Be great. Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 1 and the beginning of week 2 of veg. They are growing well and looking good. They seem to be growing out of the weird leaf growth they showed earlier. They should look normal after the fourth leaf set comes out. Some are starting to stretch, it's the 70% sativa in them. Got them is a tent to themselves. That gives them some more room to grow, and it's got a heater in there to help keep them warm. The smallest plant was struggling so I gave some spore powder for the friendly fungus and watered it in. To find it had turned the little leaves partly brown. I was surprised to find it growing a few days later. Sometimes they just need a little something to keep them growing and not rotting. It's New Years Eve and I wish/hope for you to have a Great Year. Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 3 and the beginning of week 4 of veg. Saw some spider mite damage on one of my clones that these plants were on contact with a week ago. Middle of winter and I get spider mites??? So, I'm blaming the cat... Prowling around in the bushes and then comes in to find me. Took my magnifying glass and saw some 2 spotted mites. so everything that has been in contact with these clones got a good spraying of End All. This product won't be good for flowering plants but for plants in veg this product will work really good. Still to be sure, I'll spray 4 times with 3 days in-between. I guess I've been neglecting their food and they've got some yellow leaves. So they all got a big helping of food just before taking pics. OK. Keep Growing Straight. Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 4 and the beginning of week 5 of veg. Well... I got them transplanted, but when I sprayed for spider mites 2 weeks ago I burnt some of the lower leaves, which you can see in the pics. 4 Plants in the first tent are the tallest, Longest space between leaf sets. Most likely to show sativa traits. I topped all the plants when I transplanted and took their top, good leaves, that they had grown since the spraying. I felt bad for them... But... They will grow more! The next tent I grabbed 4 of the next medium tallest plants and put them in there. I took the last or shortest plants and put them in my main grow room, under mars hydro lights and topped 4 of them. Just gave 2 liters of ph adjusted water after transplanting. Don't want to overwater them to start with. I'll be mixing up some food for them for the next watering and posting the nutrients on this diary page next week. Can't forget, got some Cal-Mag powder I like using. It's Wollammo.com - about a tablespoon on the soil, twice in the grow cycle. It's got silicate, carbon neutral-calcium, magnesium and many other trace-elements and micro-nutrients. Helps make nice strong branches. I missed last weeks entry because I was harvesting 19 mature plants... So the basement sure got cold when I shut off the lights this last week. Glad they are back on, so the basement warms up some. OK. Be great out there. Chuck.

Hello This is the end of week 5 and the beginning of week 6 of veg. The plants have been growing new leaves and branches since transplanting. The new growth looks good. I noticed when I topped that most of the plants have hollow stems. I like hollow stems. I've found through experience that the ones with hollow stems tend to be the high-test ones. The hollow stems mean they need a bit more support than the solid stems plants, but they seem to be have stronger smoke. Most of these plants have kush leaves. Where the middle finger is just as long as the ones beside it. Indica's tend to have longer middle fingers. So, I've been looking, since I sprayed for mites, for more mite signs, but I think I've got some thrips now. Go figure, middle of winter and I get pests. Too cold for them outside. Might have to get some bugs to fight the bugs. OK. Be Great Out There. Chuck.

Hello This is the end of week 6 and the beginning of week 7 of veg. Man, It's been unseasonably cold around here lately. Had a warmer than normal fall and pre-winter. But it's been freezing around here for weeks now. Had to turn up all the electric heaters around the tents and grow room just to stay around 20 c Get down to around 15 c at night. I'm so glad I'm retired and don't have to work out in the cold anymore. I put my time/years in to get a decent pension. So the plants are growing a little slower since it's so cold. I ran into a problem in my last diary.. On the 22 week I couldn't add the harvest. So I had to delete a week so the screen would show the add a week button. So I'll miss a few veg weeks so I don't run into that problem again. I see some thrips damage... so I ordered some predator mites off Amazon. The add said if it was freezing in my area it would be delivered to the post office. I got a postal delivery notice today, saying my package is at the office and I could pick it up tomorrow. Hope they kept the package warm enough... I'll find out tomorrow. The add said I would get years of protection from these predatory mites but it could take up to 6 weeks before the thrips are gone. They also kill spider mites and fungus gnats, so it's a overall protection. I'll show pics next report. OK. Be Warm Out There. Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 8 and the beginning of week 9 of veg. I'll be switching over to flowering in a couple of weeks, so I did some LST and trimming. I leave the little bottom branches to make clones with when I switch over. Got some bugs for the thrips, and spread it out. Even had some leftover, for the house plants upstairs. See my wife's valentine card? That's the end of Weirdo #7 underground comic book. I'll find some other Weirdo comic book to show, next time, for the rest of this diary. Showed a few pictures where... I believe... powder mildew starts. I trimmed off the upper leaf that was touching the leaf under it. Like you, the plant/leaf, exhales/transpires with some moisture in it breath, and the mildew loves to start there. OK. Be Great. Chuck.
