Enter stage left, the Grandaddy Purple auto. Started her off in a glass of water, filtered out the chlorine and ph'd it down to 6.5. Left her there 24 hours until she cracked open and a little white tail appeared. After that she rested 2 days, wrapped in moist paper towel inside an iKEA sandwich bag on our internet router 😜 Today, she was put in BioBizz LightMix with 2g/l Microbes. Let the fun begin!!

Today her true leaves are starting to distance themselves from the cotyledons... The next set of leaves are also distancing them selves from the first set of true leaves... The main stem is starting to grow.. She should takeoff in height soon. Give her a couple days and she should be ready to be transplanted. I want to get her in the new pot before her taproot touches the bottom of the current little pot. Which, in part due to the microbes, could be any day now. -------------------------------------------- update 31 December 2024 Clearly missed the objective to transplant her before her taproot hit the bottom of the small pot. The Microbes are clearly working! She got transplanted nonetheless and I lowered the light from 50cm to 40 cm. Light intensity is the same, 50%. As I wasn't sure if the soil and worms in the 40L had enough time to do their thing since having their previous inhabitant removed, I mixed up a small nutrient watering. 0.2g/l Microbes + 0.2ml/l CalMag + 1ml/l BioGrow + PH Down to 6.5 Also, the lighting has been adjusted from 50cm to 40cm at 50% intensity. Light schedule will be 12/12 as of tomorrow. The Amnesia Haze is ready to be flipped :)

Vegetation Week 2 She is going into week two now and doesn't seem affected by the transplant a few days back. There are two leaves kind of deformed. This may be genetics and it may be the new nutrient rich soil. (She is actually still too young to get exposed to such luxury 😂) --------------------------------------------- Lighting: As she shares the tent with AH, she's forced to abide by AH's needs. Which is 12/!2 It's 45cm above her (at 50% intensity) and just a little in range of the AH. You can see in the update to last week's diary, she has a separate light. Both plants have their own SF1000EVO but there is nothing separating the plants in the tent. This is intentional. In about 4 weeks, both lights should be at the same height and about the same intensity. Grandaddy should be ready to chop when AH is in the fattening stage and AH will have the luxury of both lights shining on her at 100% intensity. ..or at least, that's how it should play out. ---------------------------------------------- January 7 2025 She grew one centimeter in two days. The soil directly around the plant was still moist so she didn't get watered today. She'll probably be thirsty tomorrow. ---------------------------------------------- January 9 2025 She grew another centimeter. ---------------------------------------------- See you with the next update!

She's 21 days old and started Veg week 3 today. She has been growing slowly but surely. Tracks of having to process nutrients at such a young age are showing. She seems to be enjoying the living soil though! ------------------------------------------------- Nutrients: 0.4g/l Microbes + 0.2ml/l CalMag + 0.5ml/l BioGrow + PH Down to 6.5 + whatever the worms and table scraps are giving off 😬 She received her first (half) dose of CalMag and BioGrow today. I didn't see any indications she was needing either but as far as CalMag goes, she only had access to whatever the soil had leftover from the Amnesia Zkittlez before her. Concerning BioGrow, I only started her on that for all the other nutrients and minerals it contains. She clearly has access to enough Nitrogen 😂 The Microbes was increased from 0.2 to 0.4g/l. She is now receiving the full recommended dose. Mainly, because the vegetation stage is now in full swing, I want to try and actively help her roots, the root structure and nutrient uptake. ------------------------------------------------- Lighting: Still the same as last week. An SF1000EVO at 50% intensity. 50cm ..erm, 45cm away from the plant. She's grown a little 😇 Even being so young, she sure can pray a lot. I take this as a sign, the light is at the correct setting and distance 😎 ------------------------------------------------- Included pictures of (what I think is) the nutrient damage. Looks to me like Nitogen toxicity. None of the newer growth is affected though so the plant can clearly process it by now. ------------------------------------------------- January 16 2025 Nutrients in effect 😎 She is growing quick now. Signs of dealing with nutrients at a young age are still there and have not spread further. I contemplated increasing the light intensity from 50 to 60% and see how she responds, but figured she just got introduced to nutrients. Let her fully process that first. ------------------------------------------------- See you with the next update!

She is 28 days old today and is starting veg week 4 The nutrient damage did continue and moved to other leaves as well. BioGrow will be removed from her feedings. ---------------------------------------------------- Nutrients: Continuing with the Microbes and CalMag but removing BioGrow. The living soil is obviously producing enough nutrients for the plant to live off of. There is currently no need for additives. ---------------------------------------------------- Should be an interesting week. It's usually around this time that autos go into bloom. ---------------------------------------------------- January 25: End of Veg week 4 (35 days old) and still no sign of pre flowers! Used the opportunity and topped her yesterday 😈 The entire week she only received dechlorinated water and 0.2ml/l of CalMag. Other than the tips of her leaves still showing remnants of the excessive nutrients, she's starting to show signs of wanting a little more CalMag. I'll increase that to 0.4ml/l with her next watering. She'll also be receiving her weekly portion of Microbes with the next watering. Ph of this weeks feedings was 7.2 and runoff was a consistent 6.8 We'll see if the runoff decreases any the upcoming days. The red wrigglers can survive ph up to 7 but I'd rather be safe and keep it around 6.5 also to comfort the microorganisms. It's been over seven days since the last time I used ph-down. I don't notice any affects from this in the soil, the plant or the worms. So far so good I think. ---------------------------------------------------- See you next update.

End of Veg week 5 ------------------------------------ Jan 26 Watered her 3L of dechlorinated water + 0.4ml/l CalMag. PH was 7.1. Runoff was 7.0 ------------------------------------ Jan 28 Checked in if the worms were actually eating the avocado. Yup! She grew a few more centimeters and is showing signs of legginess. Perhaps I should increase the light intensity from 50 to 60 ? To combat the runoff ph of 7 she was watered 7L of dechlorinated water + 0.4ml/l CalMag. PH was 7.1. Runoff was 6.8 😇 ------------------------------------ Feb 2 Her first pre flower! She'll be stretching very soon. She's now 33cm tall. Vegetation looks greener and more healthy. The increase of CalMag and recent flush seem to have made her happy again 😊 Finished it of with a shot of the tent setup. Fans up high blowing warm air down and creating a breeze without directly blowing on the bud sites. Fan on the left will have to be risen soon again. As she wan't thirsty she didn't get watered. ------------------------------------ See you in a week again!

Granddaddy Purple Auto End of Veg week 6 First things first, we had a false alarm last week. That thing I called a pre-flower, ended up being a leaf. She is getting tall (and wide). She's nearly 50cm already. I might need a taller tent for the stretch.... her fan leaves are absolutely huge 😳😳 -------------------------------------- Feb 3 Today she received her weekly Microbe dose of 0.4g/l as well as CalMag 0.4ml/l. Decided to manually ph the water down to 6.5 again and try to get the runoff regulated again. 4L of dechlorinated topwater, including the before mentioned. Feed was 6.5. Runoff was 6.7. (That's still better than the 7.0 from last week) I'm also contemplating a half dose of TopMax into her diet, once a week, to help feed the microorganisms. As TopMax has no N P or K I see no harm utilizing the other minerals, nutrients and sugars it provides. Will think this over though. As a first initiative, I dried some used coffeegrounds and mixed about 3tbsp into her topsoil. That'll keep all the critters busy for a while 😅 As she is still in the veg stage. I might as well abuse it right? Applied LST 😎 Only because she looks recovered from the topping already. -------------------------------------- Feb 6 Adjusted the LST and checked for pre-flowering. Alas none. To combat the legginess I raised the light intensity from 40 to 50% at a distance of 40cm. She was watered and fed today as well. 4l of dechlorinated tapwater + 0.4ml/l of CalMag + PH Down to 6.5. Runoff was 6.5. -------------------------------------- Feb 9 I presume her upper most leaves didn't like the increase in light intensity 😇 A couple of tips bleached from the burn. Raised the light to 50cm at 60% intensity to get the desired par levels without burning her. She's taking very well to the LST and is getting bushy. Watered her today 4l of dechlorinated tapwater + 0.4g/l Microbes + 0.4ml/l CalMag + 0.5ml/l TopMax + PH Down to 6.5. Runoff was 6.5 So, after long contemplation, I introduced her (the soil) to a weekly half-dose of TopMax. The sugars should help feed the microbes. The other minerals should be helpful for the soil and plant. -------------------------------------- I kept my eyes peeled the entire week and there are still no pre-flowers. This is the longest vegetation stage of an automatic I have ever seen. See you next update!

Granddaddy Purple auto End of Veg week 7 52 days. 52 f'ing days!! 52 days for the first pre-flower. On an automatic!! 😳 It's definitely clear now, she's going in bloom and will be smelly soon 😎 ----------------------------------- February 12 Checked in on the LST today and also to check for pre-flowers/nanners. BINGO! She has two pre-flowers developing. Light intensity reduced from 60 to 55% (at 50cm distance) to help the upcoming stretch. After the stretch, intensity will be increased to 60 again and gradually increase. Fed her 6L of dechlorinated tapwater + 0.4ml/l CalMag + ph down to 6.5 Runoff was 6.5 ----------------------------------- February 14 Released most of the LST bindings as all of the branches were stable. Had to sort through the jungle though. She's in need of a defoliation but I simply tucked the leaves away this time. Fed her 6L of dechlorinated tapwater + 0.4ml/l CalMag + ph down to 6.5 Runoff was 6.5 again 😎 ----------------------------------- February 16 She is starting to develop a scent. Different than the Amnesia Haze next to her. Pleasant but not distinct yet. Preflowers are on nearly every branch now. Defloiated her today. Removed four little leaves in the under canopy 💪 Today is Microbe day! Fed her 6L of dechlorinated tapwater + 0.4g/l Microbes + 0.4ml/l CalMag + 0.5ml/l BioBloom + 0.5ml/l TopMax + ph down to 6.5 Runoff was rock solid 6.5 again 😎 Now she is pre flowering, she'll be processing more P and K the upcoming weeks. I've started her on a weekly half-dose of BioBloom. If she wants more, she can have more but let's see how she responds first. We mustn't forget that the red wrigglers are releasing P and K as well and they may already be in abundance in the soil. ----------------------------------- All in all, she looks really happy. She is showing no signs of deficiencies and the Nitrogen excess problem seems regulated. Her leaves are still darker than dark but the tips aren't weird looking anymore. She's made some good progress this vegetation! See you with the next update!
