Topped mother plant at 45 degree angle, removed lowest pair of branches and took off the ends of the remaining 2 pair of leaves, and removed a centimeter of the top layer of the stem and dipped in rooting hormone. Placed in clear solo cup filled with ProMix, watered, misted with distilled water and put in humidity dome without light.
It's been a week since cloning the top of my Royal Medic and everything looks good. Leaves aren't wilting or losing color, giving it moderate water every other day and spraying the leaves. I keep it on one side of the dome and have the light paced sideways in the back slot and tilted so the light faces the plant. I waited to do that after 2 days without light and a day or two with the light pointing down so indirect light.
Not much to report as clone seems to be doing well. A couple leaves show some minor curling which may be due to the light being a couple inches too close. I just removed it from the dome to see if the reduced humidity encourages it to root. I've left it out of the dome for a few hours without wilting so if she handles it I'll leave her out.
Pretty good response a week after transplant. Color is still light green as I have only gone from CloneX Clone Solution to half strength MasterBlend. Going to go full strength feeding the coming week and do some minor LST in the opposite direction of the light.
Since I might flip to 12-12 next week and not going to top I just lightly pulled the top of the plant down to the side opposite the light and used a ruler to push the tip up to get light. This has made more light available to the inside of the plant. Receiving full strength fertilizer.
Defoliated on 2/14, top dressed with Gaia general purpose and bloom as well as worm castings on 2/16 and watered with potassium silicate. Tomorrow 2/17 will flip lights to 12-12 to begin flower. Was hoping this plant would be taller by now so hopefully it gets a good stretch.
First full week of flipping to flower. Been only giving ph'ed water since top dressing the soil, with the exception of today being the 2nd application of potassium silicate. Removed s few leaves as well.
Reamended the top dress with 1.25 cup worm castings and 70/30 Power Bloom and All Purpose. Medium hasn't been drying out as fast, probably due to lower temps and humidity levels. They're still taking up water from the AC Infinity auto water bases but want a few more good top waterings to get the new top dress activated.
Just been refilling the AC Infinity self watering base and top watering when the soil begins to dry up. Took off some leaves for air flow. For some reason the humidity has gone from 49-51 to 52-54 and the medium isn't drying out as fast. My first thought was leaves were holding humidity in the bottom of the tent but I think the root cause is the bottom feeding is keeping the medium damp which is leading to the higher humidity. I don't want to let them go thirsty while flowering but I may need to let the medium dry out a bit and only gently top feed to utilize the amendments and then return to regularly filling the bases.
Most watering is to the self-watering base with light watering the top. A lot of purple has appeared. I've brought the temp and humidity down with a 5 degree temp swing from day to night. Buds are pretty sticky as well.
Not much purple in this clone compared to the mother, nor do these pics show it. Not much to say about these plants besides watching the trichomes for signs to harvest. Hopefully withing 1-2 weeks. Just giving them water and keeping humidity in the mid to upper 40s at day and 50-51 at night.
