Another good week for Detroit Red. The LST is going well. It is going so well in fact, that I cant even keep up. The leaves are growing like crazy so i consistently have to tie them down to ensure all of the plant is getting good light. The main stem is persistent and keeps raising despite my best efforts to keep it even with the rest of the arms, but overall it isn't too bad and more bud sights are raising and sprouting by the day. Every couple days or so I spray the leaves with an optic foliar solution. An earthy smell has enveloped the tent and I think it may be the beginning of the flowering phase. To help ensure maximum light, I have cut some of the leaves that died or were blocking lower sites. I also have been tucking leaves underneath one another and tying them down. Things remain steady as I prepare to add nutes for the flowering phase. Of concern, some of the leaves and stems are growing in twisted ways but I think this is because of the LST. They mostly self correct.

Hello and welcome to GD, At first, your plant dont need a feeding for minimum 4-5 week, She sits in a 26.5 l pot- so she has enough soil around to feed her for weeks. . You can give her aloe, or a aloe based root stimulatior. In my previous photoperiod grow i use 20 l pots and the plants dont needed any fertiliser in the hole vegetation stage(10 weeks). watch your girl, and if she gets pale or limy around week4 or later you can add Growing fertiliser ( N)until she stops stretching. when she stopped stretching you can start with blooming fertiliser (P+K). But always use half of the recommend amount, and look how she responds............................................................................. Watering regime; I start with 100ml , pouring around the plant, so the roots have to search for the water and spread. 100 ml should last for 3-4 days or longer. if water is used earlier then double the amount, and wait for 3-4 days. and so on. You can control it by lifting the pot when soil is dry, or putting on a scale, and noticing the dry-weigh of pot and plant. So you avoid overwatering. If you are unsure, just wait another day. In water and feriliser its like LESS IS MORE. A plant can handle to have less water and no fertiliser for weeks, but overwatering and overfeeding makes her sick. Happy growing, feel free to ask per pm

I'm curious about LST techniques that will increase my yield. How and when should I begin?

so LST on autos is pretty straightforward actually : the autos grow so hard and so fast they "stiffen" up really quickly. People will say it's never too late to train a plant, but this is not true for autos, leave it too late and you'll hurt your yield ! You want to start asap, i saw someone start on week 2 lol, i did mine week 3, people that wait until week 4 and 5 hurt their yield (as have i in the past). So when you want to train your auto, always think of two things : "why ?" and "how? ". Why are you training the plant ? to increase yield. How do you increase yield ? 1 . by breaking apex dominance for example training the main cola lower. 2. promoting side branching by "creating and even canopy" and 3. promoting larger bigger colas through light penetration. so what you want to do is bend the plant so the side branches take off, bend it towards the light so more light hits it. It sounds silly but basically when the plant feels light on it's stems and stalks and where the leaves connect, it "feels" it's grown tall enough and grows out the side branches, which down the line if you can get it all even with the main, means bigger yields. basically that's the point, during veg, try keeping the fan leaves downwards, avoid shadows/shady areas, and bed the top to break apex dominance best you can. Hope this helps ! 🚀

My plants have started to flower. What steps can I take at this point to ensure the buds grow big and fat and that the harvest is as large as possible?

bigger pots for sure try 12 inch then temps need to stay betwen 18 & 28 whit 50 to 75 humidity watering every 3 day for most strain(some need more water) then try organic nutriment if possible follow instruction on bottle

well, there ate a few factors that enable you to have bieg yields. POTSIZE- Bigger pot, biggerRoots, more Flowers. LIGHT- even in floweringstage its worth to have enough light for the Flowering Plant, TIME- a good Flower takes its time(6-8 weeks), TEMPERATURES- between 22-28 degree, everything above or under it slows them. And as a last point NUTRIENTS...... but only in a good amount...............So here are the Listed Factores( most of them).... and you see your Route to go... happy flowering

may i suggest watering with a lower temperature, it will help the root be at the right temp and should boost the growth speed some. also maybe a bit of micro, i see some purple stems coming, might be a worrisome sign

I dunno what you are using your fan for over the bowl of water , if its for humidity you can go to wal mart , lowes , homedepot any of them sorts of places and get a small humidifier this will do the job far better then what you have going on there . Secondly to answer you question about the feeding . At that stage of growth I would feed only 1 and half cups of water at a time and slowly expand the range of the water meaning water around the base of the plant for a while to ensure that the roots are getting water and over time expand the circumference of the are watered . To test if your plants need water you could do a variety of things but the most simple and effective way to do it would be to stick your index finger in the soil . if the soil is moist up to your first knuckle on your finger you likely don't need to water . Remember when they are young less is more . I say this because younger plants are fragile and cant fight off root rot very well at young ages. If you stick your finger in and it's dry then you need to water your plants . It's ideal that you have abit of run off every time you water that way you can test the water to ensure the PH of your soil and you can ensure the medium is well watered . I hope this information helps understand the "when" to water your plants . Sending lots of positive vibes so your plant recovers well !! -Happy Growing

@Sirius_Appleleaf,I see that you have a full range. But it has been irrefutably proven that for growth in the initial stages it is better to use lamps with a spectrum of 3000k-3500k-4000k-5000k-6500k. And your lamps are about 460-730nm!

@S_V_F_O, currently I'm using a couple of full spectrum lights. Is this what you mean?
