Eternity Grow Cup 2025 Runtz Fems late launch by Aileena
If it takes a long time, it will finally come.
After discovering the challenge just before Christmas, I immediately signed up and received the package between Christmas and New Year's.
Full of anticipation I opened it and was a bit disappointed.
I had chosen the feminized Runtz seeds from Zamnesia.
Unfortunately the package contained automatic seeds.
So I wrote to Zamnesia asking them to exchange the seeds for feminized ones.
Zamnesia responded quickly and sent me another package with the correct seeds, which was very straightforward.
I found them in my mailbox today.
Now it's time to pre-soak the seeds in a glass of water.
24 hours later, the seed coats have broken open and the first root tips appear.
Both seeds were therefore allowed to move from a glass of water to a small growing pot with potting compost today.
After a fairly quick start, I'm not satisfied with the growth at the moment.
The cotyledons appeared on 15 January and a short time later the first pair of leaves could be seen.
Since then, however, they have been taking their time.
The first real pair of leaves is still quite small and we don't even want to talk about the second, which is not yet present.
I'm curious to see when this will finally become visible and the growth will pick up speed.
At the moment I feel like I'm riding on a snail.
I think I'll give up with these two seedlings.
Almost nothing happens.
Tomorrow it will be three weeks since I put them in a glass of water.
They poked their heads out of the soil a fortnight ago and so far haven't managed more than the first pair of leaves, which aren't even fully developed yet.
I have no idea at the moment whether it's worth starting any more seeds for the contest.
Ok, the first two Runtz are not doing so well due to the not very stable conditions at the seedling stage.
Maybe I should have just waited until a tent was free and not moved them back and forth between a 7 watt and 4k Kelvin lamp and a grow tent.
Well, you make mistakes to learn from them.
So I'll start another seed today and provide it with stable conditions from the start, as I usually do.
As the other two seeds are growing extremely slowly and only the second pair of real leaves is slightly visible, but I have the feeling that they could still recover, I'll leave these two in the tent and see how they develop.
I can always remove them.
So, seeds off to the water jar!
I'm still thinking about whether I should try the germination method with the kitchen paper, but I'll decide tomorrow at my leisure.
A new life was born on 06.02.25!
Let's see how quickly it will overtake the other two Runtz.
Today, on 10.02.25, it's been a week since I started the 3rd seed for germination.
On 06.02.25 the head was visible and in the meantime the first pair of leaves is already well developed and the tips of the second can be seen.
The first two, which are now more than 4 weeks old, seem to be recovering slowly, very slowly.
The second pair of leaves has now developed, the third can be guessed, but they still worry me.
They are still quite small, have a yellowish colour and are still growing very slowly.
As I don't have the Light mix from Biobizz that I normally use for my seedlings, I bought some Compo Sana potting compost.
I'm not sure whether this was a good idea and whether the problems are not also caused by this soil.
I have now put them in a slightly larger pot and also used biobizz Lightmix, but it is quite possible that the roots have not yet grown into this soil.
At the moment I'm thinking about enriching the water very slightly with Biobizz Fishmix to bring some nutrients into the area of the soil that consists of the Compo Sana soil.
This is definitely not the easiest way to start a new grow...
