I had some skunk clones that died so I've started some Double Affie seeds from Southern Star Seeds. This is an indica with Black Domina and Dark Star the parents. Weather is still hot so hopefully I'll get some good Veg growth with this grow.
A better first week of growth than with my previous grow, two of the plants are a bit slow but I'm sure with some warm weather still to come they should shoot right up.
Great growth from most plants except the runt of this litter which has not grown much in size or roots but hoping that will change this week. Added a few more additives this week although still nursing the seedlings with mild strength nutrient solutions.
How much water in the tank? Once the roots start growing how much should I drop the water level and what are the best levels once the roots are fully grown?
Hey there MrMunchies! In the beginning start with the water an inch, inch and half below the net pot. then once you get a decent amount of roots in the water you can drop it an inch or 2. that will encourage some more downward root growth. once you have a ton of roots in there you can keep dropping the water down if you want little by little until your desired level. You can also drop it a little in the beginning then once you have an established root ball keep the water at that level and make sure the roots are getting plenty of Dissolved oxygen and they should flourish. for example in my RDWC setup i will start out with an inch below the net pot, then once they have a good amount of roots about 2-3 inches in the water that's when I lower it another inch or 2 and after that i don't lower it any more the max I lower it from the net pot is 5 inches and have been getting great results. just make sure you have plenty of oxygen in there! Some good growth again for most of the plants except one which is not looking great. This week there was a bit of brown on the roots so I used some hydrogen peroxide to clear that up.
This week had a problem with one of the bigger plants losing some big fan leaves and almost taking out the whole plant. Looked like nutrient burn but couldn't be because it the other plants in the tank were fine. I trimmed the bad leaves and placed the sick plant in the bucket with lower EC of 1.5. Using the Hydrogen peroxide for one more week before returning to use a root enhancer.
Had to trim some dead leaves and solved my problem from last week and possibly for my below par last grow. My air pump died and after getting a replacement I saw big improvements in the plants. Topped the plants this week anticipating another 3-4 weeks of veg.
Had some great weather this week and the new pump is working very well. The one damaged plant is still struggling a bit unfortunately. Dropped the levels in the reservoir as the roots are getting nice and big now. Still no pre-flowers.
Getting some good growth showing and the little plant showing good signs of recovery. One plant is showing pre-flowers and luckily she is a girl. Going to try a new root addative from this week onwards.
The plants are stretching nicely and still only one plant showing pre-flowers but shouldn't be too long before they all show and I flip. Gave the plants a sight trim.
The Cannabis gods have not been kind to me this week. This will be the last time I buy regular seeds as I got one small female out of 5 seeds from this strain, I have put all the boys in the compost heap and flipped the lights to flower. Unfortunately my girl also happens to be the runt of this litter and is tiny. I will give it lots of love in the grow bucket and hope to get a better yield than my last grow.
Steady week of growth this week with the stems starting to show a nice purple colour. Had a power blackout for about an hour this week, hopefully this stress won't make it go hermie on me.
How much light stress can a plant take? I had a blackout for about an hour this week and now I'm worried that my girl will hermie on me. Should I be worried or does it take a lot more stress to turn a girl into a hermie?

What you dont want however is light leaking in when the lights are supposed to be off
Your plants need to be in complete darkness for no less than 12 hours a day for photoperiod plants 👍
Girl is fattening up nicely, I had to string up some supports so she doesn't topple over. A lot of purple is now coming through the stems and leaves and good trichome coverage.
Not much gained in height but the buds are starting to fatten up nicely. Lots of purple coming through in the stems and leaves and plenty of funk coming from my lady now.
Girl is fattening up well. She is becoming very smelly and the root system is nice and big. Some pistils are starting to go brown and more leaves and stems
are becoming purple , the trichomes are clear.
Girl is smelling very funky now although the trichomes are still clear. Doesn't look like this will be a huge yield but the quality of the smoke should be good. Switched to the ripening nutrients for the last couple of weeks.
Another disappointing grow as I got 1 female out of 5 seeds and the female happened to be the smallest plant. Not a great yield but once again very potent smoke.
