After seed germination using 18 hour water soak and the paper towel method, I planted germinated seeds into General Hydroponic Root Starter Plugs. I placed the plugs into my AC Infinity Humidity Dome using Level 1 lighting (low light) and heating mat at 78F. I let the seeds stretch 2 inches out of the plugs and then increased lighting intensity to 10 (highest light level). I let plants root in humidity dome for 5 days to root and then transplanted into 3” containers and then transferred small plants into my Covert 4x4 Grow Tent.
The 4x4 Grow Tent is equipped with a small humidifier keeping humidity levels at 65%, a fan that is circulating the air and humidifier, and the Growers Choice E200 LED Light. A digital hygrometer and thermometer is also placed level with plants that gives temperature and humidity levels.
Timetable:
18hr Seed Water Soak
- MAR 2 (11AM) to MAR 3 (5PM)
Paper Towel Method
- MAR 3 (11AM) to MAR 4 (10:30AM)
Humidity Dome Plugs
- MAR 4 (10:30AM)
3” Pots Transplant (Tent) - MAR 10 (2PM)
Water/Nutrient Timetable: (10 Drop Pipette Drop into 1L pH’d Water)
MAR 10 - 6.5 pH - 0.001 ml/g Fox Farm Root , 0.001 ml/g Humboldt Sweet & Sticky
MAR 13 - 6.0 pH - 0.005 ml/g Fox Farm Root, 0.005 GH Diamond Black, 0.005 ml/g GH Weed, 0.005 Fox Farm Wholly Mackerel, 0.005
Humboldt Sweet & Sticky
Week 2 saw normal growth except for Gush Mints S1 (2). Gush Mints S1 (2) has shown minimal growth. No height or girth increase is reported. All the other plants seem to be growing normal. The plants are still very immature and have initiated their 1st node. Root growth seems to be normal. There is no sign that transplanting needs to take place as of 3-18.
The only noted change was I dropped my Growers Choice E200 LED Light from 18 inches to 15 inches. After visually inspecting the plants today (MAR 18), I notice that there is slight rigidity and very minimal inward curve with the look & feel of the leaves. Hopefully this is because the light is a little too close and not nutrient burn. I raised the LED light back to 18 inches to see if that helps with the rigidity and curl problem.
Everyday, the plants receive regular water misting 4 to 5 hours before the light turns on. The humidity is around 60 to 70% due to a humidifier running 24/7 as well as a fan that circulates the air and is directed towards the plants.
Here is the updated Water/Nutrient Feeding Schedule
Water/Nutrient Timetable: (Week 2 - 15 Drops via Pipette into 1L pH’d Water)
MAR 10 - 6.5 pH - 0.001 ml/g Root — 0.001 ml/g Humboldt Sweet & Sticky
MAR 13 - 6.0 pH - 0.005 ml/g Root — 0.005 Diamond Black — 0.005 ml/g Weed — 0.005, Mackerel — 0.005, Sweet
MAR 17 - 6.0 pH - 0.015 ml/g Root — 0.015 Diamond Black — 0.015 ml/g Weed — 0.015 Mackerel — 0.015 Sweet 0.015
Plants were transplanted into 1 Gallon Air pruning “Smart Pots”. All plants are observed to have made significant gains in both width and height. Normal “Green” color pigmentation is also observed in all plants compared to last week where there was a very slight decrease in chlorophyl production. Plants are generally healthy with no physical atrophy or visual leaf, insect, or disease complications.
Below are visual characteristic and properties for each individual plants followed by the watering schedule thus far: Plant that received bottom trimming have fan leaves left attached and nodes removed.
Kush Mints x Mimosa - Plant was topped, average node spacing, normal color, trimmed the bottom 1st node, and noticed very limited smell.
Fizzy Fuel - Plant was topped, nodes are tightly spaced, average node growth, normal green color, trimmed bottom 1st node, slight smell was observed.
Gush Mints #2 - (Not Topped), tight node spacing, slight slower node growth, normal color, trimmed bottom 1st node, no smell
Gush Mints #1 - Plant was topped, , normal node spacing, normal nodal growth, removed 1st node, no smell.
Apple Gelato #2 - Topped, normal node spacing, slightly above average node growth, normal color, trimmed 1st and 2nd bottom node,
slight aroma.
Apple Gelato #3 - Topped, above average node spacing, normal node growth, color normal, trimmed 1st and 2nd bottom node, slight smell.
Apple Gelato #1 - Not Topped, normal node spacing, above average growth, normal color, pinched base and 1 inch above on stalk for extended girth, slight “floral” smell.
Apple Gelato #4 - Topped, slight above average node spacing, slight above average node growth, normal color, trimmed 1st and 2nd node, normal color, and slight aroma.
Plants were transplanted on April 1st and watered with 6.0 ph water.
Plants were watered again on April 3rd with the above nutrient profile.
END OF WEEK 3 UPDATE:
Plants are showing moderate gains in both width and height. Removing the 1st node where light is harder to reach forced the plant to focus its energy on the top. Topping has also paid dividends and now energy is being directed to 2 top nodes instead of just 1. This is inducing vigorous growth and both the uptake of water and nutrients to their perspective bio systems.
Week 4 has seen normal growth for height, width, and node. I missed a day of watering so the plants look a little thirst. Overall, they are looking pretty good.
This week I fed the plants straight PH 6.0 water and 5ML of Humboldt County Sweet and Sticky. The plants are receiving their Calcium (Ca) and Magnesium (Mg) through the Fox Farm Ocean Forrest Soil and through “Green Sand” soil additives.
No Grow Techniques were implemented this week. Next week I will do some High Stress Training (HST) because they are at a stage now where they can handle it.
They are almost ready to be switched over to my 4x8 FT Grow Tent with a 600W HD Lamp and 2 LED Lights running with CO2. I will prepare the tent this weekend.
