Week 1 starter with the germination of the seeds, soaked the beans in water overnight, into a damp paper towel covered to keep humidity high'ish. Seeds were germinated for 2 days and then planted in 1L material pots with seedling medium, pots and seedling mix from Freedom Farms. Day 3 seedlings started showing and quickly grew quite tall, well stalky...

Day 8 the seedlings started showing some body, still stalky but moved them a bit closer to the light, it helped allot. Kept the medium damp, lucky for me overwatering in this medium is very difficult, nice and newbie proof :)

Day 14, beginning of the week and the ladies got some body, they really starting to take off. Leaves are wide and almost round showing some great indica vibes. So far so good, hoping to start with the low stress training soon, was thinking of trying manifolding, never done it but seems the way to go... time will tell.

When is the right time to transplant into a bigger pot, keeping in mind I want to start mannefolding when she hits 6 nodes.

well basically you want to optimise the root growth rate right? so that's why bigger pots straight away actually hinder the growth rate just a bit : the plant grows and grows outwards instead of making that root zone densely. You're already in 1L pots though, 3 weeks later i do think you're ready to transplant quite soon. The truth is there is no right answer except to say that you should transplant before the plant gets root-bound and shocked . that means you shouldnt really wait longer than 4 weeks, that's one more week, you can transplant now or anytime from now. Manifolding or whatever wont really change that actually. When you do transplant consider using mykos and beneficials to kickstart the rooting process, and always double and triple check your pH , substrate and feeding temperatures because these could shock the plant worse than needed. if you see roots poking out of the bag, then it's time to move the plant. Hope this helps ! 🚀

This week is going to be a big update as the previous week I did the newbie thing and posted week 3's dairy entry on day 14, the beginning of week 3, it's now day 27, almost end of week 4. In the past 13 days both the Glueberry ladies were transplanted into bigger pots, because I have two I decided to start the manifolding process for the one on day 21 and the other I waited until day 26 as a experiment to see what works best. The one I gave a bit more veg time (5 days) has a considerably bigger trunk than the other, in other words a bigger base to build the manifold from, lesson learned. That being said the one I started creating the manifold base early on is over the shock of the big trim and growing vigorously, showing more development of the side branches... So only time will tell if vegging more before starting the manifold base works better. Next I'll focus on strengthening the base of each plant by stretching the side branches horizontal until they form at least 4 nodes a side. Currently experiencing stage 4 loadshedding, means electricity supply is cut of twice a day for 2 and a half hours, this is limiting the amount of hours the lights are on... The joy of living in South Africa where the government is more detrimental than spider mites 😅

This week had its ups and downs... The complete opposite of what I thought would happen happened, remember I have 2 plants, the one I started creating the manifold base early and the other I had in veg for another 5 days until it was growing quite vigorously with a thick main trunk, I thought the latter after the trim would quickly recover and continue it's grow but this was not the case, I removed quite a bit of the top to start to form the base, 2 days after the trim the plant went into shock, looks like overwatering or heat stress or just the fact that I removed such a big part of it... In the past week the plant I trimmed early on week two has now surpassed the growth progress of the plant I trimmed later, so much so that on day 35 I did the last step of creating the manifold base on plant 2, the last step include waiting till the two side branches create 4 nodes, trim until node 3 and remove node 2, in other words you end up with a base with two horizontal branches having colas on node 1 and 3 for both, thus 8 colas in total. Week 6 I will leave the plants also and let it grow... let it grow, can't hold it back anymore, let it grow, let it grow...

Not much has changed in the last week, lady I started the mainline base early is doing very well and the one I trimmed last that was stunned is looking much better, signs on the leaves has now disappeared and new growth showing health leaves. I decided to bend the 1st and 3de node of easy side branch a bit horizontal to train the lady to grow a bit wider, I presume you need to do this otherwise the colas will be to close to each other, see this in the last picture. Will keep on vegging on 😊 Until next weeks update.

Week 7, 49 days past since germination. Creating the mainline bases was fun and rewarding especially seeing it fill in now. The little one I started the mainline base first is doing exceptionally well, I somehow managed to break off one of the grow points right at the end of the branch, causing havoc on my OCD as the base is not symmetrical now 😛 The lady I started the mainline last that was stunned is looking much better now after a bit of veg time. Just using BioBizz Biogrow with each watering, 4ml per liter. Not sure when I should switch to flower, but I think I'm not going to wait to long, bit worried about the stretch when in flower...

56 days since germination. Week went by without me fiddling to much with them, seems that is the trick 😋 First lady doing very well and starting to get some legs on her, side branches lengthening perfectly... I think 🤔 Second lady not far behind, not as stretchy as our first lady but in time she will get there... I'm now starting to think I should probably switch over to flower some time in the near future? Yes?

63 days since germination and things are looking good, I would say towards the end of the veg stage now, have not yet decided when to flip to flower but I presume I should probably do it soon, yes? This week I did nothing to the two ladies besides give them water and nutrients. I have another 240 QB on order so should provide ample space for the two when I eventually flip them to flower. Coming week I will just be focusing on leaving them be to do their thing 😋

Week 10, decided to switch the First Lady over to flower, the Second Lady will be kept in veg to make some clones for friends, will flower her at a later stage, so going forward all focus will be on the one the only, the First Lady. First week of 12/12 light cycle, can see some pre flower stretching but not much. No real sign of any flowering yet, presume things will change this week, will have to see... Will continue to feed BioBuzz Bloom to ease her into the transition.

77 days since germination. Today I thought I would do the photo shoot outside in natural light, was a bit overcast so the colours are not super vibrant, but not bad. Week that has passed I did not do much, I trimmed her a bit to show her legs a bit more, see picture. Flowers coming along nicely, still early days so let's see what will happen. Coming week I will do what I did this week, basically sit back and let her do her thing 😊

Day 84, third week into flowering. Nothing much changed, can see some further development of the flowers and a bit more stretching, but definitely coming to an end now. I notice some discoloration on some of the leaves, probably a shortcoming of sorts... Will keep on feeding and see what happens, so far so good...

Day 91, 4 weeks into flowering. Week flew by, nothing of real importance or out of the ordinary happened, I fed her, she grew some bigger flowers, she is happy and I'm happy 😊 After the photo I sat down and trimmed some of the smaller popcorn buds so she can focus more on the main colas, just a light trim. Until next week.

Day 98, 5th week of flowering. Getting a bit colder here in Cape Town South Africa as winter is apon us, luckily no white walkers to worry about... the only worry is the cold slowing down the grow, but that is okay. Glueberry still doing good, everything looks okay, flower developed progressing nicely. Did a small trim this morning, nothing intrusive just cleaning her legs a bit. Photos taken under LED lighting as it was dark outside this morning. Until next week...

Day 105, 6th week of flowering. Nothing much happened this week, weather is getting a bit colder in the evenings, I do not have a heater installed so the drop in temperature might be slowing down her flower development a bit... I think... Hate heaters, to paranoid to run a heater unsupervised. Had a bit of a mold scare the other day on a Jack Herer that is in flower, obviously due to humidity and temperature, the Glueberry unlike the Jack Herer has got almost leathery leaves so I think she will be okay. Until next week.

Day 112, 7th week of flowering. So far so good, had a bit of Powdery Mildew on some of my other plants, quickly treated it with AQ SF liquid, a parasitic fungus that only eats Powdery Mildew, worked wonders. As for the Glueberry things are looking good, buds growing and filling in nicely. Must say this will not be the heaviest yielder but looks nice and dense, that being good and a bad thing as we are heavy into winter... Let's hope the mold and powdery mildew stay far away and we can make it through another week.

119 days since germination, 7th week of flower. The Powdery Mildew issue has not gone away even after using a fungicide... I had to take off a few leaves just to minimize the amount of visual PM. Otherwise everything is going good. Until next week.

Day 126, 9th week of flower. Most resilient strain when it comes to PM and pests... until this week... As it comes closer to the end the plants resistance seems to have taken a dip, struggling with PM and what seems to be a minor spider mite infestation. Cannot really spray anything at this point so will monitor and remove affected leaves and hope for the best. Let's see what the new weeks brings...

Day 133 since germination, 10 weeks of flowering done. After 10 weeks of flower I feel the lady is starting to get close to the end, still struggling a bit with Powdery Mildew so will have to bud wash, but it's mostly in check as per the photos. Getting some coloration on the flowers, showing some purple due to the weather I presume. Started flushing 2 weeks ago so will have to see how long I will keep this going before doing the snip, it's raining cats and dogs this side of the world so will probably only get time the weekend to snip, wash and hang... Will keep you posted...

Might be because I flowered it till it was blue in the face or because it is indica dominant but it's definitely not a smoke in the morning type of bud, well you can if you want to take a nap at 10 AM 😛 Lady grew as expected, knew it was sort of a low yielding plant before I started, buds are dense.

155 days since germination, 9 weeks in veg, 11 weeks in flower, 10 days drying and a few hours trimming. Yes yes, I'm not winning any prizes on the amount of bud I got from this grow, but I mist say I enjoyed it, I played around with mainlining and think I did a okay job. The buds came out nice and dense and was relatively easy to trim due to the density. As this was my official first indoor grow I'm proud of what I accomplished, not everyone might think so but who cares, as long as I have some bud for myself and the wife that is all that matters. I enjoyed posting my progress every week and appreciated all the comments and likes, it motivated me to come back the following week, well that and I love how you can track your own progress and see how far you have come. Thank you to everyone, especially my wife for backing my passion that is growing my own herb.

Transplant when the pots are absolutely full of roots. What people call root bound is not really rootbound. You should make sure your plants are way bigger than the pot before transplanting. Always do less than what your gut tells you. Be patient as let the plant grow and roots develop. If you transplant too soon you will end up overwatering

@Stoukie, It really depends on your set up and the eventual final size that you envision for your plant. Patience and Technique. And early on pay close attention to the plants condition

Apologies I have been quiet for a while, as it was my first Diary I made the newbie mistake of posting week 3 at the beginning of the week 3 and not the end... thus I'm waiting for coming Monday to post week 4, going to be 2 weeks in one... have transplanted the ladies and also started to manifold one of the two plants, as a experiment I will start mannefolding only in week 4 or 5 and see what worked better.
the end.
