Blue Fire (blue dream x fire OG)

hello! welcome to my journal! This is start of my blue fire (blue dream x fire OG) grow. First time growing with Humbolt and looking forward to the experience. I have chosen to follow the canna nutrient line, mainly used organic products in my past grows. I am curious to see what the difference is. In the pictures are all of what i plan to use, minus Canna start, Canna Rhizotonic and Cannazym which should arrive tomorrow.The two plants you see in the pictures are Dinafem Critical +2.0 and Amnesia, both autoflower day 36. ( One on the left is the Critical+) A small trial run as I haven't used coco coir or Canna before. Thought it wise, so I can go in to this grow with at least partial confidence. So the seeds (4 out 5 so far) have cracked open with the tip of the root poking out (36hrs). I have prepared my starter pots with a half strength solution and placed on a heat mat to get ready for planting. I will be starting the nutrient plan (pictured) from what would be week 2 on this, when the seedlings have sprouted from the coco. 4/5 have sprouted on 13/03/19 but 3 of these still have their shells on, i tried to remove them but still really secure and i risk damaging them. I'll look again tomorrow. So the fifth has sprouted. I'm surprised that in 24 hours the seed has cracked and almost caught up to the other four! The shells have naturally come off also.

Start of a week 2! Start of the feeding schedule, really nice start so far. We have had very cold weather over the last week, so I have noticed slower growth in the two automatic's. I'll keep the heat mat on 24/7 till the weather warms up. So I've removed the heat mat, then replaced it with a 50w space heater. It has been placed on the floor surrounded with the pots, keeping it at an average of 22.5 C. Unfortunately due to my own clumsiness, the tallest one snapped whilst moving then around. The main issue i have had this week, is maintaining a constant temperature. It really has been a struggle, seems to have stabilised now. Always buy a temp/humidity gauge with an average over 24 hrs completely takes out the guess work (saves having to check through out the different stages of a daily cycle).

So! Beginning of week 3. Plants (10 days old) seem to have the start of a decent root structure, the water intake rate is steadily climbing. By the end of this week, I plan to transfer the seedlings in to the larger pots. It all depends on their stem strength, a fan has been placed close to hopefully speed up the development. The stems are really getting stronger, i was worried about how delicate they seemed. I have changed the cfl light to a 300w led to increase the light intensity. I have litterally no idea why the growth is so slow! I have tried to optimise all the variables, i can think of. The root structure looks excellent but the pots could be too small thinking about it now, for what i am applying to the seedlings. Or maybe im just over thinking it!

I have repotted the seedlings as their roots had filled the majority of the pot. The finish pots are a bit too big for the stage i think as it potentially opens up a bigger chance for mistakes (mainly overwatering). I sprinkled mycorrhizal fungi in the coco before the transplate, after i watered them with plain ph7 water with a 20% run off. Possibly loosen salt build up, if there is any. I've been thinking why the growth is slow but they seem so healthy. Now that the Canna start (NPK 1-1-2) period has ended. I will now see a better speed of growth with Canna A+B (NPK 5-4-3 combined). The stems are turning purple so I've included some Cal-mag in to the mix. My tap water is 7.3PH and 0.457EC, so I thought it would be ok not using a suppliment, must be higher in other minerals. I'll just include it every other feed. The plants have grown through nearly all the drainage holes in the pots. I will place them in the finish pots on Friday (start week 5). I may have watered a little too heavy, as the substrait isn't drying out fast enough.

I don't think I should of put the plants in to the second set of pots. Maybe lost a day or two in growth from the stress. I'm happy with how their overall appearance is, no signs of deficiencies. I've also placed them under the stronger led. The power draw out is 562w not 1000w so ill Change that in the headline. The tips of the leaves are showing signs of nutrient burn, which is understandable as I have neglected giving them plain water often. I'll do alternative watering, once with nutrients and once with water (PH 6.3). I will be changing the way the pictures are taken from the start of next week, as they look awful under the LED's.

I think I will stay on the same nutrients measurements for this week. The plants don't look like they need the increase just yet. I've also been looking at the grow plan i pictured in week 1. It shows the flowering will start i 2 weeks but I will probably extend it another 2 weeks. Than or untilI believe the right size has developed. I have fresh air coming from outside but we are unexpectedly cold at the moment. The outside temp is 3 degrees Celsius with a real feel of -1. So I am struggling to keep the temperature up. So I have been looking back over the last 5ish weeks, thinking about what i could of done differently. Quiet a bit😆! The repotting was unnecessary, i should of probably just put them straight in to the main pots. I believe the feeding amounts are too heavy for the plant, so I'll keep to the lower end of dosage. Few over waterings so the medium in turn was colder then what is ideal. I also didnt feed them plain water very often. Struggling with temperatures and humidity. I have a controlled humidifier due in 4 days and warmer weather. This grow and the two auto's are my first time with canna and coco. Mainly i think the two repottings slowed them right down for a couple of weeks along side everything else.

I have just received my humidifier, so I can accurately control the percentage. I will also have three more trelises which will arrive in a weeks time. Plants seem to in very good health with an excellent route structure. It's time to really encourage the side branches so ill begin LST tonight. I hope it would happen naturally more than what it has. I know I should of started weeks ago, but with all the issues and fluctuation i didn't feel confident.
