This is KJ the King Juice auto flower from Green House Seed Co. I started this diary in like the middle of this grow so there will be some catching up that happens!! I started with a seed in a paper towel that sits on the side of a bowl as shown in the first picture. This in my theory is the best way to do so because with the seed being placed on the side the tap root has a place to go downwards once it starts to tap. Not needed but my preferred method. What you are seeing in these pictures is the early germ stages all the way to the first week of seedling! I did not add any nutrients to the water at this point! I like to wait until the roots hit the water first which is from my experience about a week or 2 out from sprout.
Alright so this is the first week of KJ being in Veg! I like to give seedling stage about 1-2 weeks after sprout and usually around nodes 2-3 the roots start hitting the water and I consider it day 1 veg! With this transition I start to put the nutes in the 7 gallon res. but 5 gallons of water! The main thing I start looking for when I start putting the nutrients in is trying to get the PH and the PPM to stay pretty close in numbers through out the day! I use the PH up and down to get the PH to sit at around 5.8 or as close as I can get to it! Once you get the nutrients and environment locked in it seems like this is A LOT easier to maintain it took me a little while to first this out and get this all dialed in so hydroponics has been a headache up to this point! I am starting to really enjoy it now that all the work is starting to show in the plant itself! So far not to much adjusting or messing with the plant at this point! This is going to be a grow that I do not TOP at all and I will be doing minimum LST/Defoliation to the plant as well. I want to see the natural growth and structure of the plant and try to have the least about of stress on the plant as I can!
The process on how I put the nutrients in goes as such. I start with putting the Cali-Magic in first as the bottle recommends, with FloraMicro being the first to go in, FloraGro, FloraBloom following behind that! You should measure these out separate in different measuring devices as per the manufacture label. Do not mix these up together pour 1 by 1 into the reservoir. Once you have all your nutrients in there go ahead and make the PH adjustments as needed to reach desired level! The final thing to do is to put your hydroguard in! This will not change the ppm or PH and this is MAINLY to help with the water part and making sure your roots are healthy and not getting root rot! This is not a huge root helper like Recharge and products as such!
This is towards the end of Week 2 of veg stage! I have not down any topping, LST, or Defoliation yet on this guy he still has really good openings in the middle of the plant! His leaves are quite large and are covering up some nodes but I am not to worried about that at the moment I will defoliate him soon I am just not sure when I will I am going off when I feel like it is time and I will update about it as well! Since I have switched his nutes up it took a little bit of time to get him to the right ppm I was looking for. This did take some adjustments here and there to make sure that the PPM stayed in the range I want it too. It does seem like the recommendations on the back of the bottles for amount of nutrients you should be using is a bit high! I still put the nutes in a 2:3:1 ratio in about 3-4 gallons of water and I add the rest of the water to make it 5 gallons later and this dilutes the nutrients and gets the ppm to where I want it exactly!
How I know if the ppm is good I base it off of the plant I have noticed that if the ppm keeps rising after 2-8 hours it means that your plant ppm is too high! If it is dropping in the same time range that means your plant can use more and is hungry! I have been getting the best results with the PPM and PH staying consistent in that time frame my plant seems to thrive! This is different for each plant and stage! Paying attention and listening to your plant is much more important that just trying to force things on it!
WEEK 3 VEG
DAY 31 from sprout
------------------
Starting this week with an experiment because I think KJ is a hungry boy.
5.8ph & 431ppm is 6.0ph and 612ppm is how it is currently.
First day went to 535ppm and it dropped to 480ppm
Second day went to 566ppm dropped to 513ppm
3rd day we are now sitting at 6.0ph and 612ppm pending the results
Looking at about 1/4 a gallon of water every 2 days.
THOUGHTS FROM THIS WEEK
------------------
PPM keeps dropping I need to get this a bit more steady.
Started the GH trio aggressive veg nutrients because growing so fast. 12 inches tall
Barely any red stress anywhere on plant. Love the way its growing.
This being my second grow you can see how much learning was done on the first.
