BattleBornGrows Attempting my first grow! After receiving Jorge Cervantes' Horticulture book as a gift and weeks' worth of internet studying, I'm ready for my first attempt. I chose to start with the Tangerine Dream Auto strain based on reviews from previous growers, perceived ease to grow, and naturally high resistance to heat and dry climates...something my lung room will naturally be at in the event I cannot tend to my plant due to life and its busy demands. Dropped my seed in a glass of RO water and stored it in my entertainment center where it was dark and slightly warm due to my A/V receiver. Ambient temp was 74 degrees. After 24 hours I saw my tap root start to grow and transferred it to a moist paper towel inside a Ziplock bag that I inflated by exhaling into the bag. After another 24 hours in the entertainment center, I had a two-inch tap root and knew Tangie was ready to be placed into her 5 Gal pot of FFOF soil. With out compacting the soil, I made a 2 1/2 inch hole and placed my seed tap root down into the hole. I lightly covered the top with some more FFOF soil and watered the seed slightly with 6 Oz of RO water. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that I added Xtreme Gardening's Mykos natural root enhancer to the 5 gal mix. Not sure if this is the right move, but it claims to protect against drought and hear stress- something that worries me about my lung room climate heading towards the summer. Here's to strong roots! This leads to my first question: If the Mykos granules bind to the root structure to allow better absorption of nutrients and water- will I be more susceptible to burning my plant with nutrients? I heard the FFOF can be a "hot" soil so I wouldn't think I would need nutrients any time soon...I guess I will have to rely on measuring PPM on my water run off to make a determination. I also feel the need to mention I had set up my tent a week before and monitored my climate to ensure it will hold consistently at the ideal climate. The AC Infinity controller makes this a breeze as the controller allows for complete automation. My first week is showing the following numbers: Temps: Low: 77.7 High: 82.9 Ave:77.8 Humidity: Low: 66.4% High:71.6% Ave: 65.5% VPD: Low: .67 kPa High: 1.45 kPa Ave:1.12kPa I'm not well versed in VPD, so that will be my next area of study. Quick google search led me to a chart I will need to look into. Looks like I have weekend homework!
